When the dogs are released on the field, besides the dog's party, John will work with your dog some skills like recall, basic obedience or more! John also provided feedback on how our dog is doing so we can put more attention on the behavior. Other than that, he is happy to inform us some training class or other information that we need. John is super flexible, sometimes I need Taro get home earlier, and he can always make it, no matter rain or shine! He also posts daily activity picture on Facebook and Instagram, so I can get Taro's daily picture, and know he is doing well when Taro out with John. Also, John takes good picture! He captures those cool and wonderful moments that make me happy and laugh! Taro also had boarded with John, and John provides a clean and big environment for him, including the daily walk. John calls our dog "cannonball" Beignet. She is without a doubt, a very high energy dog, with a few social skills that need honing. She had trouble with another dog walking company due to her energy and so we looked for a better fit and found this in John and ABC dogs. We love the fact that John is the only person walking Beignet, unlike other dog walking companies with several walkers. The consistency of leadership has been really good for Beignet to work on some of her social skills. Even better, John knows her so well that he understands her quirks and how to handle them. John has a great energy with Beignet and she just loves him. She gets so excited when she hears his truck pull up outside, it is clear that her walk with John is the best part of her day. She is exhausted after her long walk and usually needs less exercise in the evenings because she is still so tired from her romp at Fort Funston! I'm Mom to 2 furry babies and finding a dog walker was much like putting my first child in day care - nerve wrecking! We were so lucky to find John and couldn't be happier with the level of services he offers and his professionalism. He loves our girls as much as we do and works hard to care for their needs as well as ours. Before John became part of our family, I walked my girls at Ft. Funston EVERY day so I saw lots of dog walkers (good and bad) and had an idea of who could handle my 2 young and wild weims. When I started asking for referrals, John's name came up several times. We first met John and his pack at Funston and walked with them a bit so he could evaluate how my kidz would fit with his pack and so I could see who my girls would be spending their days with. I was really pleased to see the level of calm, control John had over his kidz - he's SF's Cesar Milan! Later that week, John came to our house and walked the girls around the block first to build trust. He takes his time making sure the dogs are a good fit because he wants to maintain a stable pack and isn't out for a quick buck. John has worked with my girls on leash (they like to pull a lot) and gives us training tips. He's always inventing stuff to make life with dogs better (it's kinda comical) and offering to let us try them out. Unfortunately I don't have the gift he does and my kidz just take advantage of me. John's also boarded our girls several times. Before, the idea of leaving my babies with someone was terrifying, but with John I have no worries whatsoever. So now, we can take little getaways and rest assured that our babies are well cared for. I first met John in the late 1990s when he started walking my dog Ellie. Ellie adored him and loved her walks with the pack. However, after having 3 bad experiences with dog-walkers in the East Bay, I called John to see if we could work out a plan to have him walk Atticus 2-3 times a week. Our dog Freckles (now 15 years old) has been going out with John Chirico of ABC Dogs for the past 13 years. She is the black with white German Shepherd mix that appears in some of the photos on Yelp. Without question, I would recommend ABC Dogs to anyone (and we have!). Everyone that we have sent John C.'s way has also been exceptionally happy with his service. The outings that Freckles gets are a stop above anything else I've seen with other dog walking services. John C. makes his rounds with his big white truck where he can accommodate various special needs. Several of the dogs have cages in the truck that work best for them. At times Freckles has had injuries so John C. has put her in the front cab with him. Now that she is old and has lots of arthritis, she always gets a helpful lift from John C. to get her loaded. He seeks out the best places in the City to take his pack ... places like Ft. Funston, McLaren Park, etc. For the dogs that are young and active, John C. gets them running and playing. The elders get to take things at easier pace ... including spending some of the time just sitting with John in a quiet spot. We also use John C. for boarding when we cannot take Freckles on our trips. This service is wonderful. Freckles just gets to blend in with John C.'s family at his home. I don't think she misses us at all. Besides the outings, which are the core of John C.'s business, he also has great knowledge and skills with training and dog care. He can assist owners with working on whatever may be needed for each individual dog.
