Very abusive security guards. I am 78 years old and went to The exchange location in San Ysidro across the street from Wells Fargo Bank on December 1st at 2:15 p.m.. I am disabled and needed to sit down because I could not stand in line. There was no place to sit other than sitting on a desk. The security guard told me that I was not allowed to sit there. I explained to him that I was dizzy and I could not stand any longer. He placed his hand on his pepper spray and it appeared to me that he was threatening me After I exchange about $400 into pesos I returned to the desk to sit down to arrange my money in my wallet. Both security guards came up to me and told me that I had to leave and that I was finished. I don't know if this was an overt act of racism but it certainly was not professional. And other gentleman in line who is 82 years old told me he has had the same problems with the security officers. I told him that Americans with disability act gave me the right to sit down because I was disabled. He told me there was no such law. read more

Money exchange at the USA - Mexico border... This was the closest Money Exchange business to the parking lot that we patronized. It was alright. They weren't able to give us a lot of small bills in pesos because they had a limited supply. It was convenient and efficient. My friends sold back their unused pesos at the end of our excursion. We'll be back if we use the same parking lot. read more

Kind of in a janky, out of the way area, but it gets the job done. I mean, if you're try to change your money into pesos, this place is decent. No issues here we came to turn a few hundred US dollars to pesos and they did it quickly. They used a machine to process the exchange and we watched her do it, so this place is probably the go-to, when we come back to Mexico. read more

False advertising of exchange rates. The sign said selling for 19.699 yet on the receipt it showed 19.75. Small amount that would add up to be pretty significant gain for them since they are doing this to everyone. I knew I should have gone with my usual exchange spot across the street. read more

This place is pretty run of the mill when it comes to exchanging dollars for Mexican Pesos. The place is kinda dingy and had a lot of flies in there but there was no line so can't really complain. What did suck was i literally looked across to 3 other places and found this had the best exchange rates but by the time I walked out with my pesos the place across the street had a much better rate -___- read more

Wish I had the option of 0 stars. I was just at both ABC locations in which my mother and I were treated like felons. Previously, we have used ABC Money Exchange once before and had an easy and comfortable experience, 2 months ago in May. So my mother and I returned expecting the same hassle-free experience. My mother goes in first with her cash to change. I wait in the car. She comes back out nodding her head. Apparently, she had a "large amount of money to change" (given that it was still in the hundreds, not even close to the thousands) and therefore they asked her to give them her Social Security Number. She asked the lady why, since last time we weren't asked for such identifiable information. The lady replied that she was just randomly selected. For security and privacy reasons, she refused to do so and came out. I decided to go in to exchange my cash, which was much less than my mother had. I stand in line and wait my turn. Finally, my turn comes up. The lady greets me and I hand her my cash I wish to exchange to Mexican Pesos. She asks for ID which I quickly provided her with. Then she asks, "are you registered in our system?" To which I say no, because...why would I be? And she says "Okay, well I'll need you to provide me with your information. Your full name, full address, drivers license, and your full social security." I was bothered to be asked all this information when the people who had gone before me, people going with me, and even after me were just breezing through with no questions asked. I don't think this selection was random. Just as my mother, I'm weary of freely handing out my Social Security Number unless it's to a bank, or a governmental institution. I refuse and walk out with my money that she handed back to me. My mom and I needed to exchange before heading to Mexico so we drove around looking for other no commission places. And we only found the other ABC location which we decided to stop at to try our luck. I gave my mom my portion of the money and she went in. I told her to divide it so it didn't look like "too much money" as they had said. While the cash was being exchanged with no problem at all, she hears the guard's Walkie Talkie go off and someone from the other location was saying "there's two women, an older woman with a white shirt and a younger one with blonde hair are trying to exchange currency, be careful of them". Luckily my mom had already exchanged the money but the lady was giving her looks. All that we needed was our money exchanged fairly just like everyone else. Being treated like criminals and even being talked about and told to "be careful" of is extremely rude and unnecessary. Terrible and humiliating experience. read more

This place has really bad service and makes you feel like if your committing a crime for exchanging money by asking for your social security and your home address and what do you do for a living, I felt really uncomfortable giving them my Social Security number since they are not a bank or government agency read more

Better service than other currency exchange places in San Ysidro. Staff is considerably more helpful compared to what you'll find on the same street. Plus they take your Mexican centavos (coins)! read more

I don't know why the others have less than 5 stars. Unless they are the competition. This business DID NOT try to rip me off like the one across the street with signs for 18.5 peso to the dollar and then try to give me 16.3 because of their fee. I rate them 2 stars when in reality if I could give them zero I most definitely would. I'm writing this review to recommend whoever might come here in the future, to ALWAYS count their money before walking out of their establishment. Me and my husband both changed money, we went in at different times but they did it to both of us. We were having an emergency so we walked in and out in a hurry without counting the money ourselves first. When we finally sat down. to count, we noticed we were both short around 55 bucks (mil pesos) and although we do blame ourselves for not counting it right then and there until we got in the car, this is a very unprofessional and unethical practice for this establishment. So place close attention if you are being helped by MICHELLE and/or MARITZA. Very dissapointing. Never coming here again. read more

This place offers the best rate I saw for both buying and selling Mexican Pesos - and there is usually a long line of people waiting to convert into or out of Dollars. Located very close to the trolley stop and the pedestrian border crossing, this is a good place to come if you want more for your money, are not driving - and are not in a hurry. read more
