My son feels so comfortable with him, he is now 16 so I am no longer inside the exam room, and the two of them have their own relationship. Dr. Stein knows more that I can tell you in this review. He listens, and if he doesn't know the answer (which he does 98% of the time), he is so well connected that he has sent us to the best doctors in the city, who have been selected with care and all of whom have seen us immediately. My son got very sick with appendicitis and every phone call during the night (we didn't know what was wrong with him, it came on very quickly and he never gets sick!) was answered immediately and efficiently. My son needed up in the pediatric emergency room and after his surgery, he was visited three times in the hospital by Dr. Barry and his team while he was recovering at Mt. Sinai. I hope you never end up in the hospital with your child, but if you do, everyone at Mt. Sinai knows Dr. Stein and the other doctors at Carnegie Hill Pediatrics. I highly recommend Dr. Stein, he really cares and does amazing follow up, and those qualities are hard to come by these days.

I came in for a consultation and felt very pleased at his explanation of the process as well as transparency about costs and effectiveness. The nurses and other staff were all professional and kind. The reason I did not go with this doctor is comments were made that made me very uncomfortable. When we discussed that a lot of women in America and Europe (where I am relocating for a year shortly) are not having as many children due to reasons like climate change, and, in America, gun violence, he said, "climate change we will figure out," but it's a major problem that women in the western world are not having enough children because they are in - and I quote - "other places." The quote that really got me was "France won't look like France anymore - it's a shame." (France has been having a white nationalist crisis due to Muslim/northern African immigration). There is, frankly, no other way to interpret these comments. He was enthusiastic to take me on as a patient and, as a white woman, I have no doubt I'd receive excellent care. I ended up going elsewhere, though, and feel that women coming to this practice have the right to be aware of the doctor's views.

Our pediatrician Dr Igel has been attentive and took time to examine and discuss baby's overall needs at every milestone. Only once I had a misunderstanding with the front secretary who was rude on the phone but realized this has improved after I spoke with the administrator. Never had problems with nurses, most we had are vaccines only.. Cannot really say how they will handle emergency and with really sick babies.. There are five pediatricians in this office, and i've had the opportunity to interact with three of…read morethem. Before i get into that, though, a review of the office itself: Horrible. Honestly, i can't think of much that goes right in this office. They don't even have an automated system to call patients and remind them of appointments, which is silly when well-baby check-ups are often scheduled months in advance. The reception staff is, on their best days, distracted by socializing with each other. Count yourself lucky if that's what you get, though, because far more often they're surly or downright rude. The average wait time from scheduled appointment to going into an exam room with a nurse for height/weight and the like is 30 minutes. The shortest i've ever waited between the nurse's departure and a doctor's arrival was 15 minutes, but it's been as long as two hours. There's no separation, physical or temporal (i've seen both done successfully in other pediatrics practices), between teenagers coughing up their mono or influenza and otherwise healthy four-week-old infants in for their well-baby check-ups. Even if the doctors at this practice were fantastic, dealing with the office and staff is enough of a nightmare to make anyone think twice. And with that segue, on to the doctors: As i mentioned above, i've had the chance to visit with three of the doctors. (We didn't actually choose my son's pediatrician, as he was born before the interview appointment where we would have had a chance to meet a few of them and see who we thought we'd mesh with best.) Of these three, all clearly know their stuff, and on a technical level i can't fault them. Their styles are so wildly different, though, that i urge anyone not put off by my review of the office as a whole to do interviews before selecting one. Dr. Chambers: I don't remember too much, as we saw her many months ago, but she struck me as friendly, open, and approachable. Dr. Berman: Also friendly and open. Interacted well with my son and with me. Listened to my concerns, discussed options, and generally made me feel like i was relevant to the situation. Dr. Tolchin: In stark contrast to the others, Dr. Tolchin has a rather authoritarian style. She sits behind her desk and asks questions. If you provide extra information that answers a later question, she'll make you repeat it when she gets to that question on the checklist. She doesn't bother with trivialities like saying 'hi' to the baby she's treating. If you like a doctor who doesn't seem to get friendly with patients (or their parents), Dr. T's a good place to start. If you're more a of a treehugger, you might find her style a bit cold and distant. -- So, after all that, maybe you're wondering why this place gets two stars instead of one. First, they have saturday hours. Second, they'll wedge you in for a sick-visit same day, though do expect to wait hours past the supposed appointment time if they do. Third, when my son had to be hospitalized. the doctors at Astor Ave worked very closely with the hospital to make sure everyone was on the same page. (That last one almost bumps them up to three stars, but hopefully most prospective patients will never have to deal with such a situation.)

Dr Holmgren is extremely thorough and pays attention to details to help narrow in on the main focus areas of concern. I also like how she does research and asks for other records and notes to gather all information on order to get a more clearer diagnosis. I feel extremely comfortable as a patient knowing I am being thoroughly looked at. Also I like how the post initial appointments are relatively reasonable for out of network provider. Her rate is lower than what many of her colleagues who have less experience then her charge. I am pleased with this.

Nice pediatrics location and NYU-affiliated…read more Recently, we have been bringing our son to Global Pediatrics because we love the care that one of the doctors provides for him. As for the location itself, it is a decent size and has plenty of space in the waiting area --- very important during the COVID-19 pandemic. The patient rooms can be a little tight, especially when there are 2 parents allowed into the room. The staff is relatively friendly and informative as well. The only issue with the location might be ... well, it's location. It is located in Manhattan, which is notorious for the lack of parking at times. However, every time we have visited, we have been fortunate to find a pay parking spot right in front of the office, across the street or on the next block over. Other than this little blip, the office is fantastic and is a great place for parents to bring their kids for doctor visits.

From the beginning, so many years ago, Dr. Mueller has been the most astute cardiologist I could have wished for. I'm now 85 and have never had any cardiac event despite having been high risk since forever, thanks to his close monitoring and supervision. I am so grateful for his care, my whole adult life. When I first saw him, he informed me that the combination pill that my general practitioner had prescribed was the reason I was coughing nonstop. The coughing and the orthostatic hypotension (dizziness when I stood up) had both grown severe over a six-month period, and no other doctor could tell me the reason. Dr. Mueller changed the medication and three weeks later I stopped coughing and feeling dizzy. I couldn't have been happier. At this point in my care, I should probably be doing more to control my BP -- Dr. Mueller can only do so much without me putting in the effort to bring it down. Although the office is only open Monday through Wednesday, Dr. Muller is always available via text, which has been key as there were a couple of mini-emergencies, especially coming off the earlier medication. So, I recommend this office heartily (pun intended). I could go on, but I must go take my BP now. Five stars.
