So why did the person on the phone on Friday tell us we could pick up the quantity we needed if they were not going to sell it to us? I get it....help your customer....but with a very lengthy check out you might want to at least acknowledge there is another customer waiting while 3 employees stand there helpless to do anything. Guys....it is a simple screen repair. Take the screens....give me an estimate on when they will be done and a promise to call when complete. Buyer beware: Lowe's Grand Junction quoted me $924 for a replacement entry door, $786.55 for…read moreinstallation, and an additional $230 for an "Independent Contractor Permit" on a project involving no structural changes to the house. When I questioned the permit fee, both Lowe's and Premier Services Group initially told me it was a permit fee. At one point, I was even told it was a "City permit fee," which immediately raised concerns because the City of Grand Junction does not issue building permits for this type of work. Mesa County does. After multiple emails, phone calls, and a week of trying to get a straight answer, I checked with the Mesa County Building Department. Their fee schedule for this project's permit would be approximately $50-$60, not $230. During my final call with the Premier Services Group, they blamed their quote generation process and Lowe's for the inflated permit amount and explained that the permit fee shown on the quote is merely an estimate. I was told that any difference between the estimated and actual permit costs would be refunded after the job is completed. The problem? Nobody mentioned that before. Not on the quote. Not in the emails. Not during multiple conversations with Lowe's or Premiere Services Group. The first time anyone mentioned a refund was after I had already spent a week trying to determine why a $60 permit was being quoted at $230. And even if that explanation is accepted, why is the estimate more than four times the actual permit cost? It's possible the charge was deliberately labeled an "Independent Contractor Permit" rather than a building permit to disguise what amounts to a 31% markup on the installation cost. If so, that's about as misleading as it gets. This experience also revealed how Lowe's installation process appears to work. Lowe's sells the product in Grand Junction. Premier Services Group, based in Oregon, handles the installation quoting process. A local installer is called in to take measurements. Premier Services Group prepares the estimate, and Lowe's then presents the quote on Lowe's letterhead. As a customer, you're dealing with Lowe's, but there are multiple layers between you and the actual installer. Now, to the prices. Lowe's installation quote was $1,016.55. For the exact same door replacement, established local installers quoted approximately $600. That's nearly 70% higher than local competitors. My takeaway: Just because Lowe's is convenient and has a nationally recognized brand behind it, don't assume you're getting a competitive price or transparent pricing. I went into this process expecting the Lowe's name to provide confidence and oversight. Instead, I found inflated charges, confusing explanations, and a permit fee that nobody could adequately explain until I started doing my own investigation. Shop around. Get quotes from reputable local installers. And that does not include Lowe's. You'll likely save a lot of money and avoid unnecessary frustration.

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY! Initially they come across as very professional and dedicated to customer…read moreservice and installation. We hired them to replace carpet with LVP in bedroom and office. As a company that touts 40 years experience, they should have clearly known there would be a major difference in floor heights, ie removing carpet to install LVP next to hardwood or tile. Never offered in their bid a 1/2" plywood underlay that would have made the floors much closer to even. Instead they left us with 1/2" to 3/4" difference in 3 floor to door levels and tried to cover it up with inadequate transition pieces that would not even fit. Even their installer told us he had warned them of this improper installation but was told by both the sales person Rachel and the office manager to install them anyway! Needless to say once they realized installer had informed us of this concern, they pulled him off the job and never completed the transitions. They had the nerve to insist the original incorrect transitions were installed completing the job and were coming out to correct the poorly installed transitions was a mere "courtesy". They refuse to honor any warranty if we have transitions properly installed by any other means. Actually, they have held our warranty hostage which is illegal. They have been rude and hung up on our phone calls and refuse any further service since we called them out. Also,they demanded payment IN FULL before proceeding with the job. When we told them we'd go elsewhere if we couldn't pay part down, balance after completion, they reconsidered. We are so sorry we didn't go elsewhere. Then when the transitions were horribly and incorrectly installed, they refused to come replace them until final payment was made! Rachel even suggested we throw an area rug over the transitions to prevent trip hazards. After having other carpet/flooring companies come look at this issue, the bottom line is Inside Story laid the floors "substandard" but legally acceptable, without the necessary 1/2" plywood underlay that would have made the transition areas more even. The transitions they provided were inadequate from the beginning and they knew that insisting their installers lay them anyway even though they DID NOT FIT, they refuse to honor any warranty, a warranty we never received, for $6,600 worth of flooring, major trip hazards now exist and we now have to pay extra for transition installs to another company! There are legal issues here we are investigating. Their website states "love your floor or we'll replace it ". HA! DO NOT USE INSIDE STORY FOR YOUR FLOOR INSTALLS!!
