They did not have the automated system on and a limited amount of desks open. They took anyone with appointments first. Than they took inspection. The walk-in group was the third. They sat us down in the rows according to what we were doing and if we had appointments or not. It was about an hour until I was called. Finally was told window 22. After all of that from then on it went lickity split. I was rapidly verified and sent to cashier and photo. It was literally minutes. Just when I was wondering if I should go to the Express office at Cleary. Thank goodness it went quickly after all of that. It was absolutely a slow start but gratefully they pulled through for me. But it was still frustrating in the beginning. I am giving 4 stars only because I give the benefit of the doubt after COVID and the end from the time I was called to the time I paid and left was so rapid and smooth. Don't forget to pack a lot of patience when coming to this office!!!! It's a full office where they do EVERYTHING. If you are on limited time and just need something simple go to the Express Office- though they're CASH only- just for a renewal you should be out quickly because they only do the simple operations. Or--- you can book an appointment online at: wwwexpresslane.org If you just show up--- you may not have as favourable an experience as you might need and want to have. And the earlier you can be the better your results will be. Closing is 4 pm and eventually they will cut the queue because at the end of the day employees just want to get home like everyone else. Everyone will be seen up to the last person where they cut the queue--- but don't risk it and get there late. Most likely you won't get to be seen. Get there before NOON Or make an appointment Those are your only two options Unless you're doing something the Express Office can help you with. Still the earliest the best!!!!!

I will never go to the OMV again…read more ABC Title is an absolute lifesaver if you hate waiting for hours just to renew your DL or registration or even if you feel going to the OMV is a soul-crushing experience (they are always dreary and more often than not the people who work there make you feel subhuman, like a criminal or profoundly stupid for a host of reasons). I walked in past the questionable exterior in a strip mall (not sure why the glass is reflective but you can get past that) and signed in. There were several employees waiting to take care of people and I was the only one there at 9 am so I was seen immediately. I had to renew my license and change from NY to Louisiana so I had the required mail (2 pieces) and I'm glad I brought my passport because if you have that or your birth certificate you can get a real ID (required in 2025 so if you don't get a real ID in 2024 you will have to go through this next year!) The entire process took all of 20 minutes. I didn't have to fill out a single form, just signed where necessary, took the vision test (bring your glasses if you have them) and got my photo taken. I don't know what it costs at the OMV but here it was a little less than 60 bucks. Even if the OMV charges half this it's worth it.

If 8am-10am is the walk-in time, why at 1:50pm (my appointment time) were there still walk ins? They also had a weird system of having people stand outside to wait for entrance. Mind you, we're having daily heat advisories and topping 100 degrees. I ended up being helped, before people who waited for hours. My agent who assisted me was not even aware of the requirements for what I applied for. I did my research, prior, and informed them to her. My information was not good enough, because she ended up google searching. Her google search proved my information was correct. This is a place you visit every few years and not go regularly. It was a draining experience and I believe they should do more to enforce setting appointments. They also need more people to handle their lines.

In fact, I was able to get one in less than 30 mins from me going on the website and seeing which location had a time available this month. So I scrambled to get everything ready to make sure we got there in time. However, Murphy's Law meant that we had 2 trains that we waited for along the way. We got there 20 mins late- for the 11:20 am appointment. Since I'm used to the main New Orleans location, I was expecting tons of attitude about being late and them closing for lunch. But the DMV gods were on our side, and they just told my mom and I to stand by the wall. So we patiently waited our turn. (Guy in front of us was waiting for his ID to be printed out, so got it in 15 sec). We were called and was greeted by Heather's welcoming demeanor. My mom needed her Real ID so we handed over passport, old license, social security card and 2 documents with the right address. All in all, it took about 10 mins to her to make copies and type everything in. Another 2 mins for the picture taking and for the ID to be printed out. During that time, I asked for the form to get a duplicate title since my mom had lost hers to an old car she wanted to donate. Bridge House wouldn't take it without the title. Heather said we didn't need the form; we can just do it now. I said we don't have the registration nor insurance info with us. She said no problem, she could look it all up on the computer. Whaaaaa? Ok! We gladly sar back at her cubicle and waited 10 mins for her to find everything and print us a new registration. Said it would take 3-7 business days for the new one to arrive by mail. If we don't get it by the end of April, come back and they'll issue another one for free. So in less than 30 mins, we were able to do 2 things with the BEST DMV experience. My mom had a huge smile on her face when we left, and she told Heather she has a new Asian mom. Seriously she deserves a raise- her own office to run- and we will drive anywhere to get that level of service again! A+ 100 all around! Going to buy a lottery ticket tonight since that's how lucky we felt leaving!

I had to stop in here to get some car registration stuff taken care of and I always go to Westwego because everything happens fast and I'm usually in and out within 15 minutes. This day was no exception- there were two people ahead of me at around noon and once I got to the counter my situation was handled and I was out there door. This is also where you come to get your driver's license renewed- it's probably the best place in the New Orleans area to go because there's never a line and you are taken care of with the quickness. Bonus points: the building is super easy to find, it has plenty of parking and it isn't just stuck in the middle of a neighborhood like the old one was.
