Ordered A Flight of 4 Beer Samples: Superstitious Apricot - a light beer, citrus flavour with bitter taste Tiny Talk - a bit heavier than Superstitious Apricot and a bit cloudy and less or no citrus flavour Prinz of Darkness - a bittered coffee flavour Buggywhip - the heaviest IPA Also ordered an item of wings in crispy Abe flavour. Basically they are dry deep fried wings. The wings have no strong flavour but it's good enough for me, even just seasoned with salt. The wings are crispy and are bigger than those in Toronto at any restaurants. Pork Medalions - the bottom layer is mashed potato mixed with mustard. The pork is really well marinated and juicy. I really like this entree, especially the apple compote on the side, just a bit too heavy for lunch. Should have eaten that for dinner.

Short visit (no food), the kitchener/Waterloo/Guelph/Cambridge area appears to continue to improve/advance; lot of good breweries, food options. A beautiful old warehouse turned bar/rest/brewery.

During my last trip to Waterloo/Kitchener, I had the time to check out both the Abe Erb Brewing locations (check out my other review for the Waterloo location). I have to say the quality of both, food and hospitality was practically the same: prompt, friendly and attentive.....well, spot on. The beer list is great and there is a good variety that can satisfy everyone's taste. The food is absolutely excellent: from the appetizer to the main course. Great portion and very well priced. I had a chowder with veggies as an appetizer while as a main course, I had a burger with fries. All cooked to perfection and with high quality ingredients. There is only one thing that this location doesn't have as good as the one in Waterloo: the interior design isn't as good. I found this location a bit cold, quite dispersive with too much "empty" space especially at the entrance. There is also another seating area which is located on a mezzanine and unless you know it's there, you might miss it completely. If we consider that this brewery is located in the same building where Google is, I would have expected a better design than its other location especially because this is an historic building. Overall, I think that the overall experience is a 3.5 stars. The brewery is brand new, just opened less than two months ago. Food and service are good and I believe you won't be disappointed if you choose to be here. But if I have to pick one of the two locations, I would rather go to the one in Waterloo: it feels cozier. But this is just my opinion :)

August 12/2025: Grad dinner for Garrett…read more At first, I thought this LOOKED like a great sports bar. Lots of seating, tons of TV's & what appeared to be a decent menu. Then it shifted to screaming "CHEAP"! We sat at the bar as the hostess said the seating was full but it looked FAR from full. It also didn't fill up during the time we were there either. Then I looked closer & many things fell apart. The service was slow, the food was both mediocre and had super small portion size. The draft beer size LOOKED big but in reality it was more like a 12oz pint with a really big mug. It was Taco Tuesday. The Tacos were $3.49/taco, beef or chicken. They were a decent size but virtually tasteless & the meat on both was completely dried out completely. I ordered the house signature wings, xtra saucy ($18.99) for a Pound. They should have been embarrassed by what they turned out! They were exactly opposite to what the menu said. They were TINY & almost devoid of sauce! I'm unclear as to what the obstacle is for saucy wings!? All in all...this is definitely NOT a do over or a recommend.

Review of The Canadian Brewhouse - Kitchener Location…read more Overall Rating: 1 out of 5 stars (Poor/Inedible) Our recent experience at the Kitchener location was extremely disappointing, marked by logistical issues, slow service, and significant quality problems with the food. First Impressions & Seating Upon arrival, the entrance area was poorly managed. With a party of five, there was literally no space to stand while waiting, which created an immediate bottleneck and awkward experience for both our group and others entering/exiting. Service & Drinks Once seated, we ordered drinks promptly. While the Diet Pepsi, Lemonade, and water were fine, the Club Soda was noticeably flat. Our food order took an excessive 45 minutes to arrive, and only after our server proactively checked on the kitchen's status. Food Quality - Major Issues The most critical issue was the quality of the food across multiple dishes. It was unacceptable. Items ordered: Spicy Hickory Burger: WAY overcooked/burnt. The taste of char dominated the flavour. The accompanying fries were the only saving grace. Canadian Burgers with cheese and bacon: The burger itself was burnt, and the bacon was burnt crispy. The sweet potato fries were soggy. Creamy Chicken Alfredo with mushrooms: Minimal chicken (only 1 sliver initially). When a replacement chicken breast was provided, it was burnt. Creamy Chicken Alfredo (no mushrooms): The pasta itself was mediocre ("meh"), but the portion of chicken was generous, receiving the fewest complaints from our party. Chorizo Mac and Cheese (new menu item): Inedible. The flavour was utterly appalling--metallic and burnt, tasting like "dirt sautéed in a dirty pan." I had to spit it out. The pasta also featured pieces of unmelted cheese, indicating poor preparation. We also signed up for the app (before we got our food) to get the free appetizer which was a cheesy garlic bread. We got it with marinara for take home. After you peel off the burned bacon and cheese layer, you're left with a decent pizza dough to dip in decent marinara. Conclusion The pervasive issue of burnt food (affecting three out of five entrées) and the truly inedible quality of the new Chorizo Mac and Cheese indicates a severe breakdown in the kitchen. Combined with the cramped waiting area and slow service, we cannot recommend this location and hope management addresses these fundamental quality control issues immediately. On the bright side, our waitress was nice. We will never eat here again.

I went out with crutches and a knee splint and he went out of his way to find something to support my leg so I could sit comfortably. He was also so kind to retrieve us information from the bar manager multiple times when we were trying to figure out what wine and beer we wanted to take home. In addition to the service, the food was great and the wine and beer pairings they selected fit with the food fit so well. Our mains were our favourite - the trout and osso bucco. Both came with amazing sauce, and sides were cooked perfectly. I would definitely go back to see what they have on their everyday menu to test it out. And I 100% recommend you try them out as well!

Was it the decadent comfort food? The lamb shank was juicy and punched and the burger was over the top and worth every calorie. Was it the five course Irish dinner that I was lucky enough to score a seat for? With a friggin coursed beer pairing? If I had to settle on one thing, it was probably the stellar service. The staff was so personable and the bar tenders world class. Can't wait to visit again.
