This place has a lovely patio and many tables inside. It has a decent selection of beers and a nice guest beers on tap. The menu has a good selection of reasonably priced items. I chose the blueberry blond and hauler line lager. The beers were tasty and refreshing. I also ordered the halloumi fries, which were a large portion and reasonably priced. read more

Came by for a weekday lunch with friends. We shared the sweet potato fries (very delicious, but extremely oily). I had the tofu sandwich with a side salad. It was a generous portion, and I enjoyed it. It is however rather oily, and so I saved the other half of the sandwich for later. The service was friendly, and the restaurant was quite busy for lunch. The atmosphere is nice, and the ceilings are very high, which is always a nice touch. The reason why I'm only giving a 3 and likely not returning though, is because the food is just not worth it for the price. It's quite oily and though a decent portion, is still not worth the price they ask for a sandwich and salad at lunch. I think there are better options in the area. read more

Checked this place out and didn't get a chance to try their food, but they had a great atmosphere, staff and pretty good beer. They have a bunch of games that really bring some fun to the place. It was pretty dead when we went on a Saturday afternoon so it gave us the pick of the games.They have bocce, mini golf and corn hole, if you are wondering what you can play. I definitely want to go back and try more (food and beer that is)! read more

Ordered A Flight of 4 Beer Samples: Superstitious Apricot - a light beer, citrus flavour with bitter taste Tiny Talk - a bit heavier than Superstitious Apricot and a bit cloudy and less or no citrus flavour Prinz of Darkness - a bittered coffee flavour Buggywhip - the heaviest IPA Also ordered an item of wings in crispy Abe flavour. Basically they are dry deep fried wings. The wings have no strong flavour but it's good enough for me, even just seasoned with salt. The wings are crispy and are bigger than those in Toronto at any restaurants. Pork Medalions - the bottom layer is mashed potato mixed with mustard. The pork is really well marinated and juicy. I really like this entree, especially the apple compote on the side, just a bit too heavy for lunch. Should have eaten that for dinner. read more

During my last trip to Waterloo/Kitchener, I had the time to check out both the Abe Erb Brewing locations (check out my other review for the Waterloo location). I have to say the quality of both, food and hospitality was practically the same: prompt, friendly and attentive.....well, spot on. The beer list is great and there is a good variety that can satisfy everyone's taste. The food is absolutely excellent: from the appetizer to the main course. Great portion and very well priced. I had a chowder with veggies as an appetizer while as a main course, I had a burger with fries. All cooked to perfection and with high quality ingredients. There is only one thing that this location doesn't have as good as the one in Waterloo: the interior design isn't as good. I found this location a bit cold, quite dispersive with too much "empty" space especially at the entrance. There is also another seating area which is located on a mezzanine and unless you know it's there, you might miss it completely. If we consider that this brewery is located in the same building where Google is, I would have expected a better design than its other location especially because this is an historic building. Overall, I think that the overall experience is a 3.5 stars. The brewery is brand new, just opened less than two months ago. Food and service are good and I believe you won't be disappointed if you choose to be here. But if I have to pick one of the two locations, I would rather go to the one in Waterloo: it feels cozier. But this is just my opinion :) read more

The food disappoints me every time. However - The beer is good (from what I've been told the countless times I end up here because of friends and I don't even drink beer lol) and the place itself is super cool and beautiful. It's a gorgeous open concept brewery with cool murals on the walls and a nice patio in the summer. They also occasionally do cute trivia nights. But honestly, the food is meh at best. Their menu has changed several times over - with no great improvements. One time I came here and they had no bread left so we couldn't get burgers or sandwiches. I will say their pretzels are delicious. It is their one saving grace on the current menu. I will probably be back again begrudgingly for their summer patio, cider, and due to sheer proximity. read more

Cute place. Open concept that includes the brewing equipment. Very modern, simplistic atmosphere. I've never had food here, only drinks but it seems that a lot of people drop by for a beer or two. I've only been told once, out of the probably 15 beers I've order, that they were out of that beer. Great clean craft beer. Their pumpkin in the fall is amazing! read more

Great little gastropub located in The Tannery, Waterloo's world renown tech startup building formerly occupied by Google. The building itself hosts a bunch of different little restaurants and office spaces. Abe Erb is located on the north end of the building in its own unique little space. They've managed to cram a restaurant and brewery in a space the size of about 1200 square feet. The food and beer are both quite good. The portions were a bit small for my liking for the price, but the quality made up for it. I also sampled the banana infused Wheat ale which was delicious. All of their brews not only can be purchased out of the tap, but also out of the can to go. I snacked on the spicy spaghetti and side salad with lime herb vinegarette which were both great. Co worker had the prime rib sandwich with fresh cut fries which he said were delicious. Overall would have to say I'd come back next time in town to try some of the other dishes and brews that they offer. Great place to take clients and to network/socialize. read more

We love this place. Have been here three times now and the beer choices are stellar. I've tried the Oat'oberfest, Witching Hour, Das Spritzhaus and Transatlantic. They have a nice open concept atmosphere with the brewery backdrop and the servers are always friendly and attentive. We had their house made guacamole and chips, chicken schnitzel and beef dip with poutine. Big portions and super tasty. You'll need a take out box. Thank you Abe Erb! read more

The food was decent, I had the tacos and tried some poutine. The poutine was above average for poutine outside of Quebec. The tacos were pretty good but for the price they were a bit small. Alternatively, it could have come with an extra taco. The real reason for the 2 stars is the noise. This is a real brewery, which is neat and all but they were canning the entire time we were eating and it was insanely loud and it was an unpleasant hiss sound. I would not go back and be subjected to that noise. There is a patio, which would be a good alternative in good weather. read more

I had lunch here recently by myself, then evening beer with a friend another time. This is the kind of brew pub I like - lots of awesome beers to choose from, excellent pub menu, good service, wifi! Oh, and also lots of brewing equipment around to set the mood, plus two wheel barrows of beer (by) product sitting around, malt maybe? My pork sausage (I guess they call sausage with bun a Montecristo in CA?) with green salad was delicious, fresh and just the right size. The decor is cool. From another review, I agree the space is a bit awkward and I didn't even notice there was upstairs seating available. They had a small outdoor area set up, with umbrellas for shade, however it was quite windy plus noisy from traffic. They take reservations! read more

This brew pub ha done everything right. The decor is upscale, the menu is perfect for the theme. They brew beer on site, and equipment is a large part of the decor. The beer is excellent! A flavour for everyone. The food was great! We had a burger, and fish and chips. The burger was flavourfull and jucy. The fish was battered in spent grain, and perfectly seasoned. Portions are large, we brought home enough for another meal. This restaurant, is the perfect place for a great evening, and a great meal. read more

I work in the area and so go to this location often for lunch. First off this place is definitely a brewery first. This makes for an interesting industrial setting but can be noisy if you are in a group. A lot of people going out for lunch are going alone and don't particularly care about ambiance. Sitting at "the bar" is decidedly uncomfortable and there is bar equipment that obstructs your view of literally everything, including whoever is serving you. Your other choice is to sit at the communal seating with whoever else might sit down, a lot like Oktoberfest. The pub brewed beer is your only option but it is good and reasonably priced. But if you're not drinking beer at lunch, ordering soft drinks is a very expensive option. The food, while of good quality, is expensive. A coke and something to eat is always about $22. High for a basic lunch. There are daily lunch specials but these aren't particularly competitive either and the portions are small. The service is friendly and fast - fast being important if you only have an hour to eat. So in short, if you need to get noisy with friends after work here and there, it's a great spot for pints. If you need a place to eat at lunch there are more reasonable choices nearby. read more

The best part about Abe Erb is their beers. The food is meh at best and over priced. They struggle to do simple things well, like poutine or salad. If there was a higher standard in KW for restaurants, they'd have to do better. Worth it to grab a pint or fill up your growler. read more
