So I ended up in here after some deliberation for what I wanted to eat after work. They have a Friday fish and chips special for 13.00. I came in and did have to wait a bit of time to be seated, but there were only two servers working that day, and a lot of people. I can understand that. The interior is interesting and feels very hipster. The boards for the menu are in chalk, and the bar takes up half the space in the back. Very few seats, but welcoming. I also had a caesar while I was here. The bartender made it perfectly, and it was quite good. I'm a sucker for a well made drink. It was approximately 8$. I didnt interact much with the waiter, but that's usually because I'm not very talkative when I'm by myself. He was prompt and was quite nice when I did interact with him. All in all, a bit expensive but a nice experience. read more

I've been here a couple times and I will say that the service is really going downhill. I have been with big groups, and small groups and even been there on days where it is super dead, but lately the staff seem very unimpressed to serve you. I understand being stressed out by a big group, but if it's only four people on a dead night you shouldn't seem so unhappy to deal with the table. Last time I went we had to request utensils, water glasses and even flag the waitress down because she didn't take my friends order. Granted they were dealing with a large group, but I have definitely had a lot better service with a group of the same size. The food is okay, but nothing to rave about, making the experience not quite worth it. read more

Had some really good $5 appetizers shared with some friends on a Monday night. I especially enjoyed the antijitos and the $5 pint of Sapporo went down smooth. Other Sleeman pints were also available for $5. This downtown Guelph restaurant/ lounge has character, friendly staff and quality food and drink. My boyfriend and I came here for dinner after we drove up from Toronto for a day trip to Guelph. It was a Thursday so we took advantage of the 1/2 price pizza special. The food was to die for. I can't stop thinking about the hot honey chicken pizza and am trying to figure out how I can go back every few weeks to get my fix. Our server was charming, attentive and kept our water glasses filled all evening. The atmosphere of NV was lovely. I'm so used to going out to dinner and being bombarded with giant TV screens (that nobody's watching) beaming down over me while I try to eat or have a conversation. There were no TVs within view of our table and our meal was completely TV free. We found one (of a reasonable size) behind the bar, which was big enough for bar patrons to stay tuned and see the action while still ensuring the restaurant felt like a classy, elegant place to have a night out. NV perfectly balances the best of so many worlds. The manager noticed I hadn't eaten my pizza crusts (I was full to bursting from the very generous sized single person pizza) and brought over a to-go container for my crusts with a generous helping of their homemade creamy herb dressing. SO amazing! Easily the best creamy dip I've ever tasted. We gobbled up the crusts and dressing on the way home and had to have a very serious conversation about driving back to buy a jar, before deciding we had to come back as soon as possible. Great experience, fully recommend, can't wait to return. read more

This is a pretty nice place to be at on a night out when you want to drink and chill with friends but not dance. Drink deals are usually happening so get them to spend less. Their menu has definitely changed in the past two years and they have vegan options (yay!). I am unsure when the kitchen closes. At around midnight I asked if the tacos were available and they were not. If they could clarify what time the kitchen closes, that would be great. read more

Really cool atmosphere, however we waited 15 minutes to even be acknowledged by a server. After that it was unclear who our server even was as we had a couple people helping us every so often. Even after we received our bills our server did not bother to bring a debit machine over instead she sat in another booth talking to a co worker. After another ten minutes of waiting I had to bring my payment and the rest of my tables payments up to her. Food was okay, the best dish was the hot and honey pizza. read more

The best best service and the best best food. I loved the variety in menu items. Flatbread was delicious, as was the curry. The cocktails are extra special, handcrafted. Try the mohito, or whatever's on special. For the summer, they have homemade ice cream sandwiches - a new invention every week. read more

This place is well known for their martinis...but their food is amazing! Went with some friends Friday night for dinner.. the waitress was super friendly... We ordered a burger with fries/salad, seafood pasta and pizza...all were made with great care and were absolutely delicious! Even the charcuterie board was amazing..presentation/amount of it was second to none. Its clear the chef & owner take great pride in what the do. If you want a relaxed but hip atmosphere expertly prepared, delicious food, definately hit up NV. Did I mention the price point? Very reasonable. I went to NV a few years ago for my 19th birthday when it first opened and haven't been there since. I went the other day for drinks with a couple girlfriends. We went around 9 pm on a Friday night and the place was pretty dead. They have gorgeous wood and stone work in the bar. The drinks list at NV appeals to everyone. It includes everything from beer and wines to mixed drinks and martinis. The mixed drinks were 6 dollars, and the 2 oz martinis are 8 dollars. I had the Purple haze martini, with blue curacao and it was tasty, not too boozy. My friends did not like their drinks, one was a Cesar and the other was a cream based drink i don't remember the name though, but it was milky and had whipped cream on the top, very decadent. As for food they have an updated bar menu. We had antijitos and for anyone who has ever made them knows how fast and easy they are to assemble. No joke they took over 30 minutes to arrive. I would definitely go back for a drink. read more

Great night last night. We were hosting a birthday celebration and we chose NV. As usual the musicx is excellent, the crowd fun, the service consistently great and the food amazing. There was a new hostess last night, Megan, but she's a natural with both a great personality and service. She kept the beer buckets full and the drinks/wine a coming. read more

I went out to NV for a girl's night a few weeks ago, and I was not disappointed! The cocktails are a little expensive, but worth every penny. I got the blue sangria because it sounded fun, and boy oh boy was it ever big! I had to get one of my girlfriends to help me finish it so I could try another drink. Totally worth it! read more

After being seated, we waited approximately 25 min before getting fed up and going up to the bar to order drinks ourselves. We then waited around 40 min for food, and the mussels were not only flavourless shit husks, but 1/4 of them were still closed (1/4 means like 5/20.. aka, you're paying ~$14.00 for ~15 EDIBLE mussels). When the bill finally came, I was tipsy pissed and decided to pay my bill in exact change. At this point, my boyfriend reminded me that it was most likely a) the kitchen's fault the food wasn't great and b) the bartender who sat/ignored us until we found another server's fault that we had shitty service. Empathy and understanding, two emotions that had momentarily evaded me, returned in full force. I asked our server for his name, to which he replied, "Adam". I told him I'd tip if he got the tip (he was good, and admittedly it was b*itchy to phrase it the way I did), and he responded with an eye roll and a rude walk-off. So didn't tip him in the end either. I feel bad but holy fuck worst service I've had in my entire life. I wandered in here with friends and was immediately put off by the atmosphere. Staff were not overly attentive. Everything was over-priced. They are trying too hard to be classy and it comes off phony. This bar would be better suited to hipsters in a larger center. You may like it but it was not my cup of anything they serve. read more
