Ignoring the fact that you tell them you only have an hour for the metered parking ( after they tell you over the phone that there's plenty of free street parking it's on a super crowded section of Charles street). Had a bunch of homeless people on the steps outside you get to step over too. Then they charge you 15 dollars for osha fees I've never paid at any clinic ever - it leads one to think the office isn't doing good as they say they are - they also said that they'd be getting me in by around 3 - it was 320 after I came by fifteen minutes early to do paperwork for my first time with them.

I have to admit I haven't been to the dentist in two years after my previous dentist retired, but Dr. Joshi was very understanding and patient. I also have some sensitivity, which I found out was from brushing TOO well (too hard). Dr. Joshi was extremely knowledgeable and showed me everything she was doing, pointed out what she was talking about or concerned about, and made sure I understood everything.

I also appreciated that Dr. Joshi did not charge me for the x-rays that had to be emailed by another dentist were of poor quality and could not be read. NO CHARGE! :). The dental hygienist, (whose name I cannot remember), did the most thorough cleaning I had ever had. She was also very compassionate, understanding that I had a lot of anxiety. She was also very pleasant and engaged me in conversation. That helped to take my mind off of what she was doing. What I was most happy with was the results of the thorough dental exam. The dentist I had recently seen gave a thorough exam and a $10,000 treatment plan! Yes, a $10,000 treatment plan. Most of the "issues" on the plan were bogus, and I knew it. I have very good oral hygiene and not issues with my mouth, smile, etc. There was one issue that Dr. Joshi said needs to be monitored. I walked out of that dental office with a big smile and an appointment to come back in 6 months. Dr. Joshi was also very pleasant. I highly recommend this dental office!

Today was very tramatic for me. Where do I begin. I had a tooth that needed to be pulled due to…read moreinfection and an exposed nerve. I went in and the assistant was very nice. She was very patient and kind. Fast forward to the extraction..... I requested an ephinephrine free medication because I am allergic. Doctor injected me and left for more than 20 mins, mind you because the anesthesia lacked epinephrine which is the component that makes the numbing last longer it wore off pretty fast. She had to inject me again and again...Okay, lets get to the tooth being pulled, one word, TRAUMA!!! She said you will feel pressure, all I felt was pain and I alerted her to the fact that I was in pain, she said it was pressure and there was nothing she could do. Okay now we get to the meat and potatoes, she isnt able to fully extract my tooth because it was on bad behavior and as a bonus a piece of her tool broke off and was stuck in with the root... So now she has her assistant call an oral surgeon because she was sure that what she couldnt remove he could... This whole time the pain is excruciating. The oral surgeons office was 20 mins from hers so I drove, blinded by the pain of the trauma done to my mouth. Now, lets compare. I get to the oral surgeon, office, beautiful, staff, attentive on another level, process pain free, the surgeon, top tier, he numbed me with no issue, he extracted the remaining root of the tooth along with the piece of a gift Dr Wolfson left in my mouth, he said you may feel pressure I felt nothinggggg, he stitched me up no pain. From the moment he injected me till I walked out pain free stress free experience.... So listen, Im not saying Dr Wolfson isnt good, maybe she is, that was not my experience.... and the bedside manner needs to be worked on as well, maybe she was having a rough day today. BUT... im now traumatized once again of the dentists office.... The oral surgeon was much more pleasant.

I will speak my truth over and over again. After all was said and done I had a horrible dental abscess that caused the most excruciating pain that I have ever experienced in my life, and I blame this dental practice. Dr. Murphy spoke with me over the phone while I was in debilitating pain and had the nerve to suggest that he would "fit me in tomorrow for a trigger point injection". Well, Avalon lives up to their reputation. In fact they are the best dental group I ever used!!! From receptionist, to hygienist, to the dentist - they were perfect in a way that I've never encountered. I was there for teeth cleaning and I was treated as if I was a family member; and they treated my teeth like they would want their own teeth treated. They were very upbeat and transparent about pricing. I left with a great feeling and a feeling that my teeth were the cleanest they've been in a long time! I believe it was last year I did a consultation that I had to pay for. They the ghosted me and wouldn't be straight forward. The doctor reached out to me personally and apologized and told me to give them another chance. So in June of this year I went back and had to pay the consultation fee AGAIN. Its now been two months of chasing them and now they want to send me a quote for double what I was told. Thats it, im done. Do not go to these people. They are an absolute joke.
