Our experience at Aberdeen was memorable. Megan and her entire team made us feel welcome, and we were assisted every step of the way in planning our wedding day to be exactly what we envisioned. Megan was responsive to emails and phone calls, and answered the plethora of questions we continually threw at her, all with a calmness and grace that was in line with what Aberdeen promotes. We never felt rushed to make decisions or be pressured into making an uncomfortable choice in terms of decorations or food. The hall was decorated beautifully for our reception, and the ceremony - transitioned to the chapel in lieu of the garden area due to the rain - went smoothly. The bistro filet, cranberry chicken, prosciutto wrapped asparagus, and mac & cheese bites were delicious. They were even able to accommodate my request to have a gluten/dairy free cupcake (which I provided) brought to the table for my Matron of Honor! She was so surprised and I was extremely pleased that they were able to bring it out with the cake like no big deal! What a beautiful place for a wedding! Two of our good friends got married here this August. The chapel and reception area share the same parking lot, making it very convenient for guests. The chapel had plenty of space for guests. The food in the reception was fantastic and the staff were very accommodating to dietary restrictions and guests' requests. CDC precautionary measures were in place and enforced. I would definitely recommend this venue! read more

While not for one on a tight budget you do get a lot for your money. Actually for the guests we were looking to have the cost was similar to what Centennial Park charged but Aberdeen offered so much more and had superior facilities. Basically you get full private run of a beautiful main-street USA type downtown area for you and your guests. Wedding shops on site. Chapel is cute, they also have beautiful outdoor ceremony options. The Hall was high end and elegant. They have bridal suites and groom suites that are like furnished condos! Great amenities. What a great way to prepare for your big day! Why not a 5 rating? Not the cost! While the price was a little out of our range, it is more than fair for what you get! Our issue was it was tricky to find the location and cell reception and GPS weren't the best out there, at least as of Summer 2018. If this improves I'd give it a 5, no question. Most of our guests and bridal party are from outside the area so the GPS and cell issues would be a big problem for us. read more

Meh. I've experienced better. And I would recommend that you move right along and find something better yourself. I'm from Valpo and was getting married in California, so my parents wanted to have a second celebration in town after the wedding for family and friends who couldn't make it to California. In March, my mom and I attended a big tasting event that Aberdeen has twice a year so that couples can choose their entrees. I was disappointed that they did not offer any of the vegetarian entrees for tasting. There were four stations set up, each with 3 meats and 1 potato, so all I got to taste were the potatoes. As a vegetarian, I was probably the minority at our event, but having a few meatless options for us to try would have been really great. They gave us sheets to keep track of what we thought of each option, but then collected them at the end of the night, like we were little kids who couldn't keep track of it. I didn't appreciate that. I found Aberdeen's style of decor for the reception kind of cheesy and outdated. They like to put Christmas lights under the tablecloth on the head table. They're so proud to show you all kinds of garish neon lighting they can do in lots of colors. I would have been really disappointed had we had our actual wedding here, as it feels like a generic hall, not anything special. Lisa was the one assigned to our event and we had a chance to meet with her in October to make final decisions on the menu and decor. The week of the event, I found her to be a hot mess. There was one day that she and I emailed & talked on the phone a total of 13 times due to mistakes/confusion on her part. She sent us a final invoice with the Saturday night rate- our event was on a Friday. We also were supposed to have half off because it was off-season. Neither of these things were noted. Once I mentioned it, it still took her another two emails to fix it. We also had a problem with the table count. With the number of guests we had coming, we needed 13 tables. She kept trying to tell me that her math showed that we were only getting 12. It was extremely frustrating to explain it several times. I had enough to do in the week before the event and did not appreciate that I had to double check everything that she was telling me. I would like to mention, though, that Trey, the son-in-law of the owners is excellent. Pretty much any question you have can be answered by him- he is very experienced and very on the ball. Definitely an asset to Aberdeen. When we got to town a few days before the event, we brought in some of our decor items and the place cards for the guests. The checklist we were provided by Aberdeen in October stated that the guests meal choices needed to be indicated on their place cards using different colors (red for beef, green for veggie, etc), so I used the appropriate color markers to make a heart on each person's place card. A confused Lisa called me to ask what the significance of the hearts was. I explained it was for the meal choices and she still didn't seem to get it. On the night of our event, we arrived about an hour early to take some family pictures. We had ordered corsages and boutonnieres for the special family members. It was especially important, since one set of my grandparents couldn't make it to the actual wedding, so we wanted to recognize them at this event with the flowers. We started taking pictures and I realized I hadn't seen the pin-on flowers, so I asked Lisa. She said she hadn't seen them and that our florist must have forgotten them. Okay, if that's what happened, it's not the biggest deal. At the end of the night, I asked Trey if, throughout the evening, they had ever come across the flowers. He said no. A few days later, I mentioned the corsages/boutonnieres to the florist, thinking she'd forgotten them. She was very upset and said that she'd placed them in the fridge at the Aberdeen and that Jim, one of the owners, had known about it. We contacted Denna and she became very combative. After a very tense phone call with my husband, I sent her an email trying to smooth things over. She sent me back a crappy email telling me that they don't make mistakes! Excuse me, you may be on the ball, but EVERYONE makes mistakes once in awhile. That haughty attitude that they run a perfect show is ridiculous, especially given our experience with Inept Lisa. They have this belief that they are the only show in town and that they get to make the rules. There are some pretty silly policies and rules, including the way they do their alcohol pricing- for an open bar, you pay for each guest, no matter their age. So if you have mostly 20-something guests at your reception or mostly families with young kids, you are paying the same. We looked at 9 venues in California and not one of them did alcohol pricing this way. Get over yourselves, Aberdeen. read more

I don't understand why Yelp has "filtered" all the good reviews and left this awful one. I had a wonderful experience at Aberdeen Manor. The owners and staff all genuinely care about making each bride's day special. I have been a bridesmaid in several weddings at Aberdeen, as well as my own, and I have attended numerous functions (baby showers, bridal showers, community events, etc.). The food is always great, the staff professional and accommodating, and the venue is gorgeous. You can't go wrong with Aberdeen as your venue. read more

I can't even begin to describe how grateful we are to Aberdeen Manor. Our wedding day was an absolute dream come true. From the moment we walked into Aberdeen to see if it was our future wedding venue, we knew right away it was the place our forever would start. Megan our coordinator, made us so comfortable from the beginning. I had complete trust in her and the Aberdeen team. They made our planning experience so easy and stress free. Their recommended vendors were all AMAZING. They too made our planning so easy. Everyone complimented me as we were getting ready for the day how calm I was. I knew everything was taken care of, and I had complete trust in Aberdeen. Everything was absolutely PERFECT. The garden was absolutely breathtaking. The flowers from Kristinalynn Floral were gorgeous. The ballroom was astonishing. From the lights, to the hanging cake stand everything was beautiful. They truly take pride in their work and it shows. Our DJ Mike from Trans Audio, kept the dance floor going all night long. Megan our coordinator, checked on myself, my husband, and our families constantly throughout the night. The bartenders and servers were fantastic as well. I heard so many compliments about Carol. Aberdeen Staff all truly care about your day being magical. They do this because they love making your day the best. It was the best day of my life, and I wouldn't change an absolute thing. My husband and I were married in the garden at Aberdeen Manor on Friday, September 2. We also held our reception there. The staff at Aberdeen were beyond helpful and friendly from our very first email exchange and initial visit. We had Megan as our personal wedding consultant. She was fantastic! She was very calm and offered many suggestions, which made a high string bride, like myself, feel at ease. She was there throughout the planning process and, most importantly, on the day of the wedding. The entire staff at Aberdeen, that's including the waiters, cooks, etc.. were absolutely fantastic. The food was wonderful, the decor was beautiful, the service was amazing. Aberdeen will ALWAYS be my number 1 wedding venue recommendation. I had a wedding here in January. It was so beautiful with all the winter decorations. They took care of everything, making sure everything from the escort cards to favors were set up perfectly. If there was a no star option thats what it would be! I have never experienced such poor customer service!! After inquiring on prices for my wedding I was basically told to just come in.... live several hours away so asked again to be sent the electronic copy of the prices no big deal right?? I was then asked why I was looking in valpo then!! If you rrally want the business why does it matter why?? I was appalled that this behavior would come from an owner of a business...its a wonder they are still in business!! From start to finish, our experience with Affairs at Aberdeen was HORRIBLE. The day my husband went to pick up his tux he found his shirt was far too large and my son's jacket was too small, people make mistakes and we weren't mad, we just asked for different items, no problem. The following day when we received the new jacket for my son, it was a completely different color than the rest of the groomsmen had, fine, we switch it again (the day of the wedding). Then before the wedding even started the sole of my husbands shoe fell off! When we did finally get the correct suit for my son, the pants were so ill fitting, the crotch hung to his knees but we were out of time so he wore it. By the time we made it through the ceremony and started photos the ENTIRE inseam of my son's left pant leg had come undone! By this time I was furious and called to complain and was promised a full refund. When we went ot return the tuxes, however, it was a different story and they had no intentions of efunding us saying that the items were still wearable... ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! After a lengthy argument with the owner we were issued a partial refund but rest assured we will never use them again. RENTER BEWARE, do no shop here unless you want your day completely derailed! read more
