I had a basement floor drain that was backing up. With the April rains in Missouri, not a big surprise. I called a more nationally known service, which shall remain nameless. I was told MAYBE midnight to 4 AM. If not, then 8-10 the following morning. Then my wife found Able Rooter. I called and spoke directly to Tom. He asked a few questions to remotely diagnose the problem, and quoted me a price. He then drove 40 minutes to my house, arriving at 11:25 PM. The fix was simple, just a quick snaking, but the whole time he was working he was friendly, talkative, and courteous. He explained everything he was doing, and when I left the room, he continued the conversation with my wife. Most repair service techs I've had come to the house won't talk at all, or will only talk with "the man of the house." Like I said, Tom was absolutely great, and friendly the whole time, despite the lateness of the hour, and having pulled him from his home. Our basement drain was backing up for 3 days. I had another reputable company come out to cable it. They found some stubborn roots in our drain that were difficult for them to remove. After 2.5 hours the guy gave up and told me they'd have to come back the next day. I found Able Rooter on Yelp and called Tom to get a second opinion. Tom told me that it shouldn't take that long to clear out roots from a drain. I took a chance and called him out. Tom (along with his brother, Michael) knew right away that he could easily clear my drain, and within 20 minutes his water jet had the bulk of the clog out of there! He proceeded to clear the rest of our drain and ended up spending only one hour for the whole thing! Can't say enough about Tom, his professionalism, and confidence. Called able rooter and Thomas was able to come out the same day. Thomas was very helpful and fixed my drain problem that night. I have used other drain services before that have charged me two times in a single visit - to go from in the house to the outside and vice versa. Thomas was able to assess the cause of my clogged drain and fix it without the need for two services. Greatly appreciated!!! He was also professional and courteous in that he encouraged me to follow up if my problem came back. Thomas came to my home late in the evening, did not rush the job, and was happy to address any follow up issues. That amounts to great customer service so I will definitely rely on Able Rooter in the event I have any other issues. Finally, and most significantly, Thomas kept my rug and floor clean as he was going in and out of my home. Very respectful. EXCELLENT SERVICE! He puts everything into laymans terms so you can fully understand the problem, and he will show you exactly where the problem is taking place for your own person knowledge! Tom has always been able to make it to my complex (as a property manager and now as a resident) in a very timely manner. He is always very thorough in inspecting the cause of the problem to make sure he can fix it the first time and his knowledge goes far beyond just plumbing. He is very reasonably priced and he takes pride in his work. He is also VERY honest about what is needed immediately and what can wait, which is always appreciated!! He's excellent at what he does. My sewer backed up twice in a week! I called a company called Drain Medics and they had claimed that the drain was clear. IT WAS NOT. It backed up two days later. The guy from Drain Medics was nice enough but he wasn't super professional. I called Able and the technician got right back to me and was ON IT. He came out late in the evening and didn't charge a premium. I felt bad having him out but we couldn't even flush the toilet without having our drain spit out poo water. It was not good. The technician from Able, Thom, came out and quickly figured out what was going on. He figured out that there were three blockages and Drain Medics had missed them basically. This company really goes above and beyond. I'm totally satisfied and hopefully my sewer doesn't backup again but if it does I know who to call thankfully. read more

My dishwasher and kitchen sink were backing up/slow draining for a couple days, and drain cleaner and plunging were not helping. Then, a huge rainstorm come through one night, and my basement drain/sewer line started to back up, and fast. I couldn't bail water quick enough so I knew it was time to call a plumber. I called Tom on a Saturday afternoon after my basement sewer backed up. He said he could come by to fix the problem but it wouldn't be till 8 pm or later. He informed me of the cost to open up the line, but it could potentially be more. He arrived earlier than expected and started immediately to fix the problem. We had a clogged sink deeper than the 25' snake could reach. We called Tom on a Saturday afternoon, and he was out with a colleague within 90 minutes. He quickly discovered that he couldn't unclog the sink due to our P-trap rusting out. He advised me to replace it and call him when it was done. I contacted him the next morning, and he immediately responded with an appt. time on Monday. Monday morning, Tom and his colleague came on time, removed the clog with pressurized air, and tested the sink for positive drainage. He was pleasant, prompt, courteous, and did the job right. Tom (and his brother Mike) are the best. Unfortunately this is the second time I have needed them for a sewer back up (2 different houses). Called yesterday, and Tom picks up the phone and was able to come out first thing this morning, had it all unclogged in less than 30 minutes (damn the tree roots in 100 year old pipes!) Anyway...they are the best, Tom walks you through everything they are doing, shows you the video of your pipes as they are working.... It's really hard to find this level of service anywhere anymore. Tom saved us! He was wonderful. We had Drain Medic (DO NOT CALL THEM) out a few days before and the guy spent two hours to not fix anything and told us it was an MSD issue- it wasn't!
