Goodbye dog bed and plushie dog toys. Goodbye paycheck for the day as anyone who has ever had to deal with this sort of thing knows. You have to toss the awful smelly heavy wet items, mop up the biohazard, then disinfect everything. I felt sick for days afterwards. Back to my story - The river of sewage was very surprising as I had only washed my face and flushed the toilet once after I went upstairs for the night the night before. The plumber who came told me that the 3 townhouses next to mine are all connected to me and so if they have a problem (flush wipes, etc) it is going to back up in my townhouse. Definitely not the news I wanted to hear. He brings back all 105 feet of snake and finds hair and "strings" (indicative of feminine products). I like the term "drowned rat" myself. I receive an email from my apartment complex that I now owe $335 for the plumbing. Mind you, I use a drain catcher for my long curly hair and I learned early on from my father to always respect the toilet. I call Gravity Drain Services and kindly ask if they could reach out to my apartment complex to inform them what the plumber told me, that the issue could have come from the 3 townhouses connected to me. They decline. Wow. Is it too much to ask for the truth to be told? That's all I was asking. The little guy gets knocked down again. UPDATE - the rental company was told the truth and the charge was removed. Thank you for doing the right thing.

I live in an apartment building where our upstairs neighbor has been pouring grease and washing perhaps work boots in their kitchen sink, and it caused dirty water to back up into our unit. Four times now, grease, grass, and twigs have filled our kitchen sink. Our leasing office apparently has a contract with this company, and when this issue happened a third time, a tech from this company came out while I was away. When I came back, I saw the tech outside with my unit door wide open (in the middle of February with pets inside). I waited 5 minutes for him to not just stand there before I decided to approach him for the sake of my pets and heating bill. He said, "Sweetie, you can't keep pouring grease into your sink like this." I stated, "I am not the one treating my sink like this. I don't put leaves and twigs in my own sink." He replied, "Well I'm going to be out here every week if you keep doing this." I repeated, "I am not damaging my own sink. It is someone else in this building causing the issue." He asked, "Do you even live here? Like are you on the lease?" I said, "I'm Dr. Bruce, and I'm the head of household on this lease." Suddenly, he backed off, and said building maintenance would look more broadly at the pipes for the whole building. He then left. Since then, our neighbor poured grease down the drain yet again, caused another backup, and this time, it ruptured the pipes under our sink and caused someone else's backwater to spew all over our kitchen floor. Last night, the apartment maintenance person *within minutes* diagnosed that it was the upstairs neighbor's grease, *and* that this sexist tech put the pipes back together so loosely they broke apart. Taken together, the blockages were obviously not our fault, and this sexist tech's incompetence and willingness to blame me caused even further damage. I'm at the whim of what contracts my leasing office has for plumbing. I would NEVER hire this company, and I will be strongly encouraging my office to find another contractor. If this company cares about keeping clients, I would suggest this tech receive feedback that women aren't little girls who mindlessly damage our own things. Some of us can actually maintain a sink and actually sign leases now.

Highly doubtful that he is licensed or bonded in any actual way, and clearly doesn't know much actual plumbing- came up with an excuse to not examine our water line, likely because he didn't know and was not equipped to handle anything like that. We didn't realize at the time this company doesn't have actual plumbers, just drain cleaners, again everything about their website is misleading. He comes out to your house in a hoodie armed only with a flashlight and screw driver and does absolutely nothing. He didn't want to leave without being paid for something so he claimed he could fix our water heater with his ' special program'. He told me to go upstairs and turn the faucet on so I did and when I came back down a few seconds he claimed his ' special program' was implemented and all was fixed. All this kid did was turn the knobs of our water heaters up. And then he demanded $350 for turning our water heaters up. Later We hired an actual plumber who told us the knobs didn't fix anything because the issue was backflow. SoemthI guess the scammer absolutely would not know how to fix.

Less than a year later, while selling my home, the St. Louis County occupancy inspection failed because their installation contained clear code violations, including a missing required expansion tank and a non-compliant flex connector. When I contacted SOS Plumbing, the owner told me he intentionally didn't install the required expansion tank because he was "trying to save me some money" and didn't know I was planning to sell my home. Instead of taking responsibility for the code violations, he quoted me another $800-900 to correct his own work. I refused to pay twice for the same job and hired another licensed plumbing company, paid an additional $750 to bring the installation into compliance. A homeowner shouldn't have to tell a licensed plumber they're planning to sell their home to receive a code-compliant installation. Paying premium prices should mean getting professional work done correctly the first time--not paying someone else to fix it later. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend SOS Plumbing and would urge anyone considering to think twice before trusting these 5 star reviews! Update: Since business owner replied(pretty classic "defensive rewrite of history" response): Just to be clear. please don't reframe "code compliance" as optional upgrades. Those are not "nice-to-have upgrades". they're required for compliant installation. And please stop that "budget priority" claim. That is not true. Don't try to justify omissions on your end. did not request a non-compliant installation or decline required code-compliance work. At no point was I informed that the installation would not pass occupancy inspection or that required code items were being excluded from the work performed. The water heater installation later failed occupancy inspection during the sale of my home, requiring additional work to bring it into compliance. While scope and pricing were discussed, I relied on a licensed contractor to complete a code-compliant installation and to clearly communicate any items required for compliance at the time of service. It is not reasonable to expect a homeowner to independently identify or approve hidden code deficiencies during what was represented as a standard installation. I was not seeking a "budget" or stripped-down installation. If cost-cutting was the primary expectation, I would have chosen a different contractor. The equipment installed was a Bradford White unit, which is a professional-grade water heater, not a low-cost or economy product. I specifically chose to go with this business because they have a premium brand unit available and I know this is not a budget big box store option. So please stop bringing up that "budget" claim. The business's response is misleading and not consistent with what was communicated or agreed upon at the time of service. The characterization that I declined required code-compliance work is not accurate.
