It was a Sunday and we were in the Centennial area. A real person answered the phone, sent me an email contract with Docusign and they got a person on site by 6 pm. Not one other company even answered the phone. As my Father's condition deteriorated during the week, Gentle Sheperd had a qualified person in the room so my family could make hard decisions. Samantha was with us almost everyday and by Friday we had to choose to move Dad into in-house hospice. Samantha said she would go with us the next day for the move. When Dad slowly woke up in the unfamiliar room he said "There is that little girl who takes care of me" My heart melted. Dad passed away the following Monday feeling safe and cared for.

Two other places I talked to told me it would take 3-5 days before they could start getting anyone scheduled. Besides the time to get someone scheduled, what made me choose Gentle Shepherd was when I interviewed with Olivia. She shared her own personal experience of needing caregivers, and that created an instant connection for me. She had been in my shoes. The girls that came were outgoing, knowledgeable, and compassionate. Whenever I needed something new or changed, they always did everything possible to take care of my requests, which, bottom line, were just making sure my mom was taken care of and comfortable with the girls coming in. Because it was not about me, it was about my mom. We will forever be grateful to Gentle Shepherd for providing such compassionate service.

My Mom is 92 years old. Started services with Right at Home Colorado Springs, CO on January 16,…read more2026. Prior to the first caregiver appointment, Right at Home required a security deposit in the amount equal to the cost of the first appointment. They did not provide any materials so I asked what this amount is for? The explanation was vague at best. The first caregiver was 18 minutes late and Mom was billed for the full amount. It took my oversight to contact Nathan Mast JR Branch Director to get the first bill resolved. Since then, various caregivers were either late or complete No Shows and No Calls. Right at Home informed us they also provide a caregiver through the "Pocket RN" program which is paid by Medicare. We signed up for the self paid caregiver plan along with the Pocket RN. This created a total disconnect when it came to billing. I communicated the numerous issues with the crossed billing between the 2 programs with Nathan Mast Jr., Melanie Rice, Operations Manager and others. It took over 2 months to get billing issues resolved due to the incompetence of their administration with continued excuses such as, "We are new to the Pocket RN Program. At one point they even charged my Mom $1.20 in interest when she clearly had the necessary funds to pay her obligations in her bank account. Upon informing them we no longer desire to continue with their disappointing services on June 10, it took until June 24 to receive the security deposit refund after contacting TJ Henley Co-owner in which I had to drive to their location to pick up a check. Do not be fooled by their website or bios. Steve M

It's a bite but affordable for average home healthcare prices. When my father came home from the hospital, the VA left him stranded for almost 2 weeks. We called everywhere and this place took us as self pay clients and got a cna to our home within a day. Right away they accommodated our needs and all the staff were professional, experienced, well-trained, helpful and compassionate. They never complained or embarassed the patient due to changing diapers. The cnas always arrived on time and never had difficulty finding our home. They helped us with referrals on how to get help from within our community on supplies and things we needed. We never had a "no show". Whenever we called the office for whatever reason, or no matter what time of night, they were always available. You would have to leave a message, but your call was returned ASAP. The employees this company hires are people who want to help and want to be in this line of work. A lot of them are going back to school to move up, but they were so helpful. No home health care is going to be perfect, but this place was wonderful. We hated to discontinue care but the VA referred us to another company and would not let us stay with them. Needless to say, the new company referred to us are not near as good or professional as maxim was. Maybe its the way maxim runs their company, but the employees all seem so happy.

However, 2 days before the insurance change happened I was informed that our nurse would be leaving our case due to the reimbursement difference. So be aware that they pay their nurses based on insurance reimbursement rate - meaning if you don't bring in as much money as a private pay insurance because you're on Medicaid, you will struggle to get nursing. We went from 100% of the shifts our daughter required being filled to 0%. They were able to quickly replace a nurse when she left prior to switching to Medicaid but we went without care for 5 months once on Medicaid. They ultimately discharged us for lack of staffing - again, that was never an issue when the insurance paid higher. They have serious issues with communication and have shady business practices. They called to inform me that they needed my permission for a temporary discharge of 15 days to "have a break from the missed visit notes" since they had not filled shifts for so long. It turns out that they were actually giving me a 15 day notice of discharge. I feel like the person who initially called me was lying to me in order to get me to agree to the discharge. Despite a complaint to their compliance officer, this issue was never addressed. The care of the patient is not their number one priority otherwise they would have handled our situation better. The level of care did not change, only the amount of money my child brought to the table. I suggest you know you rights and document everything if you decide to risk signing up with this agency for your child's care. Shame on Team Select for such incompetence and negligence in the care of medically fragile children!
