I asked them for my grandmothers file, a file that every firm is legally obligated to provide to all of their clients. They came up with a bs excuse that they had the file in storage so there was an associated $50 charge to give her file to her. This is completely unethical to charge clients for their files, so I threatened to file a bar complaint and the attorney called me crying. Based off of us requesting my grandmothers file they dropped my grandmother's case. In the height of immigration issues being the worst my grandmother was given a court hearing. They notified her the week of by sending a letter. Attorneys are notified of hearings months in advance, yet they let her know the week of by sending a letter. When I called they said because I was rude (for asking for a file and getting upset at their attorney for charging $50) that they dropped my grandmothers case. On the court date they appeared to simply request to get off of the case and washed their hands of any responsibility. When I called the firm I was told that they wouldn't even have a simple conversation with me about anything because I threatened to file a state bar complaint and I needed to hire a new attorney. We lost my mother who took care of my grandma and all of this fell on us, all while the firm didn't have the decency to make more attempts in getting a hold of us for such a sensitive matter, especially knowing months in advance. If at all you take from my review please be aware of their practices. They are immigration attorneys handling such sensitive situations, but it seems that if you call them out they become emotional and that skews their moral compass.
