Three areas where nail polish is on my foot and not my nails
    Michele C.

I just experienced the worst service I've ever had in my life and would never recommend this business to anyone. I arrived on time to a 9:15 am appointment. I was walked to the polish area and told to pick a color. My technician isn't ready but I'm offered a beverage. The tech asks about what's currently on nails I say hard gel. This is where everything to follow goes downhill. I'm then told it's a timed appointment and she has other appointments and may not be able to accommodate me. Sure, no problem. I walk back to reception and suggest canceling my pedicure to have adequate time for my scheduled manicure. Next thing I know the tech can now accommodate me and I'm told "we don't refuse service." Ok great! Both my toes and hands are wrapped in acetone. During the pedicure I ask do they offer Russian Manicure/Pedicures and I'm told no and it's expensive anyway. Welp, I guess this hard gel Russian manicure/pedicure Ive routinely received monthly and I'm here to remove is expensive. Throughout the appointment I'm made to feel like an inconvenience. I'm told I should have went back to were I received my Russian Manicure/Pedicure and how difficult it is to remove. Eventually, the manicurist comes to assess and pulls the acetone wrapped foil off my nails (I estimate I sat with wrapped acetone for at least 30-40 mins). She didn't introduce herself just started tugging and complained to the pedicure tech about not filing them down first. The pedicurist says she didn't have the time. I'm just sitting there while the manicurist begins to complain about the gel and asked if I want my nails cut. I say no, and she asked if I had tips. I said no, and am surprised a professional has to ask this question. She then tells me she can file them but doesn't recommend Dazzle Dry (preselected service) because my nails will break. Ok. Sounds fishy but ok I'll upgrade to gel. She returns to tell me she had other appointments and I can come back later or another day. I suggest canceling. The pedicure continues to discuss the gel and ask what the manicurists plans were. I said I don't know and out of frustration tears start falling. I wish my body responded better to stress but yes I am now wiping tears away. The pedicure tech begins to hand me tissue (3x) without saying another word. When she's done she says sorry. I'm thinking she's apologizing for my experience but she goes on to say I need to move so her next appointment can have the chair. I walk to front and the same receptionist says $75, she doesn't ask about my service or even suggest trying again at another time for manicure. I then ask to speak to the manager. I recall for the manager how from the moment I walked in I was treated as an inconvenience and shared the same details as described above. Tears still rolling I tell him I could have went anywhere and I choose to come here. I walk away and he grabs my lower arm/wrist and says he noticed I paid and would refund my service. I have no idea if he will, I know i will no longer patronage any About Faces. Whenever I have a problem at a business I attribute it to a training issue. Here's what I recommend for the manager or other staff who train employees. 1) Treat customers warmly as there are many options for similar services. 2) avoid sharing your business's scheduling issues with customers. 3) Offer spa like services like your name implies 4) check in with customers who choose to cancel services mid-appointment. I promise you an ounce of prevention is less costly then what's to follow if not treated 5) ask customers before they pay/tip how was everything today 5) Listen and adjust when you learn of issues.

    Dry heels right afterwards.

I booked one here around 13 weeks pregnant. Unfortunately, the massage was subpar. 1. The massage bed was not prepped for a pre-natal massage so the masseuse had to step out to get the correct pillows. (Since I had booked online, the receptionist should have alerted her to the appointment type ahead of time.) 2. I laid on my side in an awkward position because they did not provide a full body pillow, which would have allowed for body alignment 3. The masseuse only massaged my shoulders and nearly none of my back. I kept thinking she was going to eventually move down and she never did. The shoulder massage lacked pressure so I hardly felt anything. After this experience, I booked prenatal massages elsewhere for the remainder of my pregnancy and they were great (appropriate prep, pillows, pressure and full body work). Having a comparison helped me realize the masseuse at this location didn't have much experience in pre-natal massages. 2 stars for easy online booking, cleanliness and the kindness of the receptionist. Zero stars for the actual massage.

I really didn't want to schedule with a male masseuse, but I figured I'd give it a turn since I was really looking forward to a birthday massage. Prior to my appointment, I received a text asking me to confirm that I didn't have covid amongst other things. When I arrived, the young lady at the front desk checked my temperature and checked me it. I was immediately taken to the back to enjoy my 90-minute massage. The gentlemen who did my massage with awesome, except for the fact that he spent a little too much time on my shoulders. I was a tad bit sore on that area for a few days and after googling the after effects of massages, I came to found that soreness is normal. It was also a bit uncomfortable breathing through a mask with your head peaking through that small hole within a massage table, but of course, safety first! I think I will request less time spent on my shoulders next times. The checkout process was painless, as I was able to just pay with the card I used to book my appointment through the website. I also received a receipt via email. It seems that the have streamlined the process to ensure both their safety and the customers. All in all, I had a great experience.

When she arrives, she tells me she won't have time for my scheduled manicure, only my pedicure. She starts on the manicure for someone who arrived after me causing her to start on my pedicure a half an hour after my appointment time. Polish selection is severely lacking. I asked for "steaming" hot water for my pedicure and SHE TOLD ME NO. Said I couldn't have hot water "because of the bowls". I highly doubt the manufacturer would design a chair for pedicures where you can't use hot water. Absolutely absurd. Soaking my feet in this frigid water wondering why I'm still here. I am excited and surprised about the liner. Sad to say the highlight of my pedicure is a liner. Very dainty/delicate when filing my nails into the incorrect shape. TOOLS ARE NOT AUTOCLAVED. HOW UNSANITARY She unapologetically clipped me with the cuticle trimmers. Another positive: her calm demeanor. Nothing seems to phase her. Callus filing went well. Massage was decent other than her nails scratching/tickling the bottom of my feet. Actually, one of the best massages I've had with a pedicure.

I arrived on time for my scheduled appointment, my nail technician was Arvis. She was still working on another customer when I arrived so I had to wait a bit. When she started to do my nails she had me soak for a bit, while she had some lunch directly behind me. That wasn't the only thing I found to be unprofessional. During my manicure session she talked bad about a coworker that wasn't sitting to far from us. Didn't appreciate hearing about your work drama, considering this was my first visit with you. The pedicure was for reflexology, but there wasn't much of that either. In fact my toe polish chipped in a week in a half. I have gotten plenty of pedicures in my life and they last a minimum of a month. The only reason I didn't give her a lower rating because she did a wonderful job shaping my nails. The best I have seen in a while. Irregardless, that shape work isn't enough to have repeat business from me.

As I scanned the space, I noticed toward the back there appeared to be a coffee/tea bar. I was promptly acknowledged and seated at a nail station within moments. I didn't see a posted price list, so I asked about the cost of my services (dipping powder and a chin wax). The first person didn't understand, but my assigned nail technician provided the information. While I found the technician to be highly competent, quick, and efficient, I was surprised when she initiated a FaceTime call--not once, but twice--and remained on the call for nearly the entirety of my visit. Although it didn't affect the quality of the work, and I had no questions during the visit, being on the phone might have made it harder to ask anything if I had needed to. It struck me as slightly unprofessional. That said, the results were great, the service was timely, and the pricing was standard for the area. I haven't yet decided if I'll return, but overall, it was a solid experience.

Now, I'm assigned a nail tech who makes sure to pick a gel polish despite repeated protestations that I cannot do gels. It's been made clear multiple times I am not allowed. The tech rushes me along because apparently I'm taking too long to pick my colors when in fact I'm just taking my turn after friends. She picks my polish and tells me, "Your mom say you can have gel!" Then, the bday girl's mom points out that my mom also told her anything but gel, but at this point I'm under the lights. The tech shrugs and says there's nothing for it now. In what world? How does a nail salon brush aside a girl's protestations and upcharge a birthday party for a manicure expressly NOT requested! How does the tech explain KNOWING what her mother wants having never spoken with her? It seems entirely shady. Not to mention bullying. I am 10 and here as a guest, so I cannot press my point too far as it is supposed to be a happy occasion and the bday girl's day. But when the one parent who is present is also disregarded, that is something. But the shady and intentional upcharging is the worst. Is this how they view us? As marks? As dollar signs? As cretins who don't know what we want? It would explain much of the other complaints and treatment I've seen for this salon. Truly amazing. I will be sure to warn off friends and anyone female to steer clear. Whether it's management or one bad tech, it's clear this has gone on way too long.
