We've been going to Karl for my son's haircuts for 2 years now. He's great and we are always happy with the cuts! BUT I will warn you about the woman that braids here, Tierra. She is consistently showing up late for the appts. One time she just No showed and would not answer calls. Even after that my son's dad decided to go to her again. After 30 minutes past our appt. time, we asked how much longer she'd be and she looked confused as if she didn't even know us or know of the appt. She said she was almost done when clearly she was barely going to start braiding someone else. We just left. If we didn't like Karl so much, I would never step foot in there again because of how disrespected I felt. So the 5 stars are for Karl and the other barbers...we'll just stick to haircuts here and find someone else for braids. Just wanted to warn anyone that's looking for a braider. I explained to Carl how I wanted my hair cut and I specifically told him the length in which not to go higher up because I was trying to let my hair grow out.. I explained it to him 3 x's which he said he understood, when he started to cut my hair he did exactly what I told him not to do and cut off what had taken me 6 months to grow back. He even went higher creating his own hair line within the fade. He did what he wanted to do instead of listening to how I wanted him to do it... I felt as if he didn't care at all.. Amazing experience! We were welcomed with open arms. Everyone was so warm and nice. Cornell was great with our 7 year old. His attention to detail was 5 stars! I really appreciate when a kid gets the same attention to detail for hair just like an adult would. My kid loves "looking fancy" as he calls it. He takes pride in what he looks like. I love it when we can find a barber shop that can help bring that out in him. Too bad we do not live in Houston. I highly recommend coming here. I took my 10 year old grandson, Jonathan to a barbershop for a haircut which turned out very bad, so when we got home I tried to fix it which only made matters worse. As he was crying I promised him that nana would make this right, so I went to searching for another barbershop. That's when I found, Above The Rest Barbershop! When I called to make an appointment for, Jonathan the young man that answered the phone was very kind and scheduled my grandson for the following day. Upon our arrival we were directed to a young man named, Tony... y'all, he was AMAZING!! Tony, is very good with kids and turned a bad situation into nothing but praise!! The lines are clean and tight and Tony, even gave him a neat design on the side of his head to which Jonathan absolutely loves!! I will be bringing my grandson back and have vowed that this nana will never cut his hair again! On a side note... beautiful worship music was playing in the background which to me is big, big bonus and just when you think that this place couldn't get any better, I learned that that before they even open their doors they invite God, into their business and their day! The owner was very nice and we were in and out in like 20-30 minutes. I was expecting to wait longer but was surprised with the fast service they provided to say we were just walk-ins. I love the way they handle my son when cutting his hair, it's clean and everyone's friendly. It's truly a convenient location with everything being right here- even beauticians. However, my experience with one of the beauticians (Dee) was not the best. I went here twice, HOPING that the second experience would be better than the first, but to no avail. The first time was for a wash and up do, and that took OVER three hours! She struggled with the up-do part. She did offer to give me a discount for my next visit, in which she did, but it did not suffice. My next experience was even longer than the first. Again, I went in for a wash, split end trim and a sew in. I was there from 11 am- 6:30! Plus, I had to remind her and correct her several times about my requests. She forgot to trim my ends, and the style I told her about. Needless to say, my sew in was a total disaster, and I didn't have the time, energy or patience for her to try and fix it. Stick to the barbers, and perhaps the other beautician (the shorter one) knows more of what she is doing. read more

They were able to squeeze in a last minute appointment on a Friday after work. Place was lively, busy, and had some cool artwork on each side of the waiting area. There was an open field next to the shopping center I was able to run around in with my pup while my boo was getting his cut. My man came out looking super clean and handsome. I was greeted as soon as I walked in the door. I noticed right away that the environment was well maintained. The barbers were professional and made you feel welcomed. The haircut I received from Demetrius was beyond expectation after being to a few barbers in the area. I was really impressed with the quality of the fade and the sharpness of the line up. Best haircut I have had in my 7 years of being in Spring. They are also really good with kids. My son is 7 and hates to get his haircut, but Demetrius made him feel comfortable enough to sit and get his haircut, so much so that on the way home my son asked could we go back next week.
