Luckily Turkey Street Food is open until 11pm Tuesday and Wednesday, til 3am Thursday and Friday, and Midnight Saturday. We ordered a selection of meze dips with pita bread. My favorite was the roasted aubergine with yoghurt and garlic (yummy smokey flavor). The lamb "Urfa Kebap" is ground lamb with spices and was very tasty. I reccommend ordering atleast one meze dip because it will go great with the meat kebab.

After a hard night on the sauce this is the place to go in Newtownards. The hardworking team have to put up with a lot because as far as I can tell the majority of their customers are drunk. I always order the same thing donor kebab with all the salad trimmings on pitta bread and chips - gorgeous! and really reasonably priced. I always seem to have enough coins left for one after a night out. The food is delicious, they have a massive selection and it is all made there in front of your eyes. The place is clean and the poor guys working behind the counter take the drunken antics with a good heart. When we lived abroad we often chatted about Lahores and how we missed it. As for my kebab, well I make better kebabs on my George Foreman grill, doner meat was bland, steak was tough and chewy and as said before the chicken was dry. Below all of this were chips that were soaked in grease that after a about two I honestly couldn't stomach any more. I should have phoned up and complained but I was that tried and hungry I put kebab in bin and made myself toast and went to bed. On the plus side the staff were friendly but the food is a big let down. I think on a night out after a few pints it would be acceptable.

Despite being a little busy when I arrived, it seems these people, like me, were giving this place a try, as the food isn't likely to warrant a return visit anytime soon. Surprisingly it does seem that you can get something like Doner kebab wrong. Such a shame as this spot is in a pretty central location and would have been a handy spot to get to when the kebabish urge hits. Yes, kebabish urge is a thing. I'll give it 6 months and try again.
