We visited this emergency room on March 18, 2026. My wife came in with abdominal pain. The doctor ordered a CT scan, an ultrasound, and blood work -- then we sat and waited nearly four hours because everything was sent out to an outside provider. When the doctor finally came back, he told my wife she had cancer on the liver with metastasis. We were absolutely terrified. He scared us beyond words. We decided to get a second opinion at another hospital. Come to find out, they were hemangiomas -- completely benign. No cancer at all. That older doctor had no business delivering a devastating diagnosis like that without being sure of what he was reading. He should be retired. On top of the emotional nightmare they put us through, the bill came in at $41,000 -- and we're stuck paying $3,000 out of pocket. It feels like they were just running the clock and ordering unnecessary outside services to charge the insurance company as much as possible. It's outrageous, and it's no wonder insurance costs keep going up for everyone. Do not go to this emergency room. It is hands down the worst. Between the misdiagnosis that had us believing my wife was dying and the astronomical bill for incompetent care, I wouldn't wish this experience on anyone. read more

Beware / Patient Review Title: Extremely Unsafe Care - Dr. Michael Hickman at Abrazo Peoria Emergency Center - Do Not Recommend I visited Abrazo Peoria Emergency Center on March 9, 2026, with chemical burns on both legs from cleaning glass straws with alcohol. This was my second time being treated by Dr. Michael Hickman, DO, and both experiences have been deeply concerning. Dr. Hickman did not physically examine or touch my burns, standing 5-10 feet away the entire time. He diagnosed one leg as a second-degree burn, prescribed Silvadene 1% cream to be applied for seven days, and sent in pain medication (with Zofran added after I requested it due to nausea). However, the Silvadene prescription was for only enough cream for a single day, and Zofran was omitted entirely. I had to call the facility the next day to have another doctor correct the order, resulting in a day without proper treatment. After carefully following instructions for six days, the burn turned black, became extremely painful, and I developed fever, chills, and burning that spread to my foot. Medical professionals I consulted urged me to go immediately to the Arizona Burn Center at Valleywise Health. There, doctors determined it was a full third-degree burn. The Silvadene treatment was inappropriate, and I required urgent surgery--including debridement and skin grafting. I spent six days and nights in the hospital. Healing has been difficult, and I now have lasting nerve damage in my foot that may continue for years. This level of misdiagnosis, lack of proper examination, and medication errors caused severe, avoidable harm. This is the second time Dr. Hickman has mishandled my prescriptions and care (the first was during treatment for pneumonia/bronchitis). I also discovered that patient surveys do not appear to be private, as staff approached me about my experience shortly after submission. Bottom line: Dr. Michael Hickman provides dangerously inadequate care. I would strongly advise patients to avoid him and consider seeking emergency care elsewhere if possible. This experience has resulted in long-term consequences that could have been prevented with basic standards of examination and follow-through. I have filed formal complaints with Abrazo Health and the Arizona Medical Board. Protect yourself and your loved ones--stay away. read more

The nurses were very expedient in the services they provided, and the x-ray tech was very kind, and fast. The PA was very prompt and asked all the pertinent questions to get the information she needed to do any and everything she could to provide satisfactory care. They were very comforting and calming. My experience with this Abrazo ER was amazing. They were quick to get us in and deal with our problem, they did X-rays and scans quickly, all of the staff was nice and friendly, and we were in and out faster than I've ever experienced with an emergency room. The Emergency physician talked to me like an annoyed teenager being told to clean his room. Hahaha. Do Not Utilize this Facility for Healthcare. They over charge you, will not sent you an itemized bill or your medical records. They are efficient at getting you checked in but no one acted like they cared or wanted to help you. In/out your are fine it is just a virus. Covid test, Flu Test and a chest Xray 2.5 hours no fluids. Doctor would not get near me even after test came back negative. They left me unattended with guard rails down had me hooked up with i.v on high prescribed drugs ended up drugging me so much I fell out of the bed and no one knew until my mother walked into the room. I also wanted to add to my experience from a year ago, that they even tried to bill me for treatment. First, they didn't treat anything, they sent me home with low blood pressure and horrible abdominal pain. Second, why should I pay over $750 for the male doctor to say "it's probably just hormones." I disputed with my insurance and told them the situation, but still will never ever return here. Had a horrific experience after trying to get follow up on a sternum fracture. Original doctor left before telling results of final scan instead of coming back as promised. Random young woman appeared just saying here are your discharge papers. **Then they gave rx that was called into completely wrong pharmacy. I showed a medicine bottle with correct address and pharmacy. And read literal streeet address to the nurse who promised she would send it there. They sent it to completely other pharmacy and location in bad part of town. 30 minutes in the opposite direction. So an hour round trip.** Supposedly pain medication can't be changed from one pharmacy to another. So glad they took zero care in the matter. My partner is in extreme pain. Just having first dose of new med. She needs me with her. She's not supposed to be in a car more than necessary bc she could reinjure her sternum. **They also neglected to provide the breathing apparatus they advised that we needed. ** I asked to talk to the doctor 5 times. The woman just kept talking and a big aggressive orderly burst in the room and glared at my partner in the hospital bed, saying the woman had been insulted. Then doctor Hickman appeared, whom I had never met, yelled, told me I could just drive across town after I took my partner home, and when I said I wanted a manager he said no one was over him. I said you own this facility? He got mad and demanded I leave without my partner. He then skulked back to his computer terminal. The orderly came back in and mumbled and apology. What kind and overworked people here! An emergency room visit is never fun and I'm just thankful for the staff here that was apologetic that there was delays. I understand things are busy. I wish I could give ZERO stars. The only thing the nurse and dr that were assigned to me know how to treat is COVID. I went in to this ER after being 1 week postpartum. With postpartum issues; mind you I have my newborn there with me. The nurse offered me a covid test and I declined. She then proceeded to question and belittle me stating "I'm not going to stab your brain" "what's the problem" "are you afraid" things like that. After she gave up on the covid test the Dr. walks in doesn't ask me any questions about my symptoms. He says "my nurse tells me you are declining a covid test, what do you want me to do for you." So I'm sitting there absolutely dumbfounded that these two people got to be as far as they are in their careers when they only know how to treat is covid. I LITERALLY reexplained my symptoms and reminded them I'm postpartum and gave them my diagnosis to what is wrong with me. The dr said "well it's not red yet but you do seem to have ALL the other symptoms, I'll prescribe you penicillin". UNLESS YOU ALREADY KNOW YOUR DIAGNOSIS, DO NOT GO HERE!!!!! As soon as they left the room I walked out as well. As I was headed for the main door I hear a heavy attitude yelling "why are you leaving?" Isn't it obvious? FIND ANOTHER EMERGENCY ROOM!!!! This was the worst experience ever. Sandy, the registration staff told me that I had to pay over $1400 towards my deductible when my co payment was only $150. They billed it incorrectly to the insurance which showed benefits of the $1400 deductible owed. In reality, for the 2 hr visit, it should have only been $150. Now they will not refund me the difference and they are telling me that I have to wait 45-60 days or longer for everything to process correctly. It's a scam...don't fall for it. Excellent service ! My 17 year old son Grayson accidentally cut his foot. Mike from registration was excellent and very professional! The two nurses Leonora and Rika were pleasant and caring - you definitely could tell they loved being nurses and loved where they worked ! Very professional and I noticed both had there CEN! The provider Buck was friendly , professional and made my son feel comfortable and safe ! It's so nice to know there are health care professionals who still care about people and make their patients feel welcomed and loved ! I would never go anywhere else ! Dr. Dean and RN Angela performed exquisitely for my poor husband who was suffering from a bladder blockage. RN Angela, drawing from her professional skills and expertise, completed the catheter insertion procedure in short order. Indeed, I agree with other reviews that Angela is kind, caring and personable!! After many sleepless nights prior to our venture to Abrazo Lake Pleasant, my husband was finally able to slip blissfully into a much-needed, deep sleep. He's on his way back toward a healthy body!!! The worst experience I've ever had at a hospital. They didn't explain what bloodwork they were doing. I don't feel like they listened to what was actually wrong. The doctor asked what medication I was taking, wrote it down on a napkin, I was still explaining and he walked out mid sentence. It was the most unprofessional staff. I do not recommend going here. 1/2) If I could give ZERO stars I would. This facility does not deserve even half of a star. To say this visit was nothing short of a nightmare would be an understatement. As a mom to several young children, I had to bring myself into the ER and stayed alone during the entire visit. Upon arrival, I was experiencing extreme back pain, spiked fever, vomiting and nausea, as well as blood in my urine. All signs of what I assumed to be kidney stones or a severe UTI. I was asked to leave a urine sample which I did, and it did have blood in it, so it was quite shocking when that urinalysis came back clear. I can only assume it was mixed up with someone else's upon arrival at the lab or from the point of which it was given to the man at the front desk. Quite possible as there was no identification sticker located in the cup or baggie as those were located inside of the restroom to use as a self serve sort of station. Upon being called back to the room ,I was almost immediately given an iv, to which the tech failed 3 times before asking someone else to come and poke me for the 4th time, but what's even more annoying is as I'm getting the iv placed, the front desk man is in the room telling me I owe x amount for this Stay and is asking me to pay before leaving. (Odd considering we hadn't figured out a course of action or anything at this point) then I was asked height/weight/known allergies etc. I pulled my medical history from my doctors office to read off the pharmaceutical names of each medication I am allergic to. Having had these allergies since I was 12, I have them mostly memorized but pulled it to ensure that it was correctly documented. One of which being Reglan. Confirmed by both the nurse and the doctor who saw me. So to my surprise was it, when I was given reglan for my nausea. When asking what the medication was as the nurse was injecting it in my IV and had only said "this should help with nausea" , she said reglan , to which I said ... uhm I literally just told you I am allergic to this. Within seconds I could feel my body going into anaphylaxis. My throat was swelling I could hardly breathe and had the tingles everywhere. The nurses response was "oh wow you really are allergic". You don't say? She then proceeded to walk out and bring back Benadryl to be injected in my IV. At this point I'm beat red and can feel my eyes swelling and I'm seriously struggling to breathe. She gives me the Benadryl and says maybe I want to add that to my listed allergies.... Once again I had now confirmed I was allergic 5 times at this point. This nurse was extremely cold and calloused and did not seem to care that she nearly killed me. What becomes even more shocking is I was not checked on ONCE by any of the ER staff from that point until two hours later when I was taken for a CT scan (I don't remember much of it considering I was extremely tired from the medications I had just received never mind the fact that I nearly died. Ct scan went great, came back to the room and asked if I could use the restroom. At this point I was still extremely dizzy from the medications and groggy I was told to walk down to the restroom. No one was there to help me walk, lucky I didn't fall in there alone. I stumbled my way back to my room to wait another hour or so only to be told by the doctor that it was "too early to diagnose" me, that my CT, bloodwork, and urinalysis all came back clear And that they would be discharging me .(see screenshot for ending) Don't allow ANYONE you know or love to be seen here. The cherry to the cherry on top is the ED Director stated I was lying about my allergies and had received proper care during this visit. We will NEVER be back. They cannot bill properly and you cannot get anyone to fix it. It is now been four months since my visit there and I am still fighting with them to bill the insurance properly until they do that, the insurance won't pay. They told me to call the insurance company I do and the insurance tells me to call them. Even did a three-way call with them. They would not give any information to the insurance company they claim because of HIPAA even though I was on the phone with them. They even reached out to me through this site with an email address to contact them directly. Sent several emails with no response. Last night, went to the ER with really bad chest pain. They rushed me back, got the EKG, IV and labs drawn. The intake person got me registered, I had no clue what my insurance was, he got all the info he needed from the internet. The nurses and medical assistants were great, top notch. The PA, Jon Paul Clouthier, gave the best care I have ever gotten in an ER. He was genuinely concerned about my pain and got it under control. Luckily, it was not a heart attack and he felt I would be safe going home. read more

This facility is so horrible I am almost at a loss for words. My husband had an even on Fri. that appeared to be a possible tia. Our physicians office said we should go to an emergency room. I thought that is what this was. Big red neon letters on the outside that say emergency. We walked in and much to my surprise the place was empty. Now I know why. They performed some tests on my husband, and told us he should have two additional tests, one of which could only be performed at their hospital. So we waited and waited and waited. They told us if we left to go somewhere else it would be AMA (against medical advise) My poor husband was stuck in a windowless room whith no internet service until Sunday afternoon. I went in yesterday with terrible stomach pain suspecting it was appendix. I was seen immediately and well taken care of. They are affiliated with Arrowhead hospital so was even able to schedule immediate surgery for me! I went into Abrazo emergency room at 10:00. They did bloodwork and a CAT scan and x-rays which were all needed prior to my surgery. Surgery was at 3 PM and I was home by 6:00 p.m! Excellent facility and I highly recommend. read more

Never had a problem with this place until last night. Part of me thought the doctor on call was drinking. He burped and seemed to stumble on his words. Didn't check my child out at all except to listen to his heart. He came in wheezing and he didn't think to maybe check his throat which I hinted?! The nurses, X-ray tech and EJ were great. His response was for my son to take cold medicine but he didn't know a brand and to see his pediatrician. Then discharged me which took over an hour. read more

When you head to the ER, you're under distress and have no idea what to expect. When we got here, we got some simplified paperwork to get started and were into a room in less than five minutes. There was immediate service with 2-5 people always in the room doing testing and taking care of things. In less than an hour we had answers and a treatment plan. Staff was friendly and caring. I can't think of anything I'd change. EDIT: We've unfortunately had to visit here again. And once again, they did everything I could imagine to help us be comfortable and get immediate care. If I could give negative stars I would. I took my barely conscious three year old toddler with 104 fever here and we sat in the ER waiting room, never seen for 2 1/2 hours before we left. There was no one else in the waiting room, and they said that they were just waiting on rooms to open after we saw three different people leave, if it was gonna be such a long wait, I wish they would've communicated that to us so we could get our child prompt emergency care!!!! never ever ever again am I coming back here! they would rather my child die in the waiting room. read more

I was sent here after going to their sister company down the road MedPost. It was convenient because all my information was sent over and MedPost gave me a Fast Pass to expedite things. This was my first time having to admit myself to an emergency room and everyone made me feel so comfortable from the minute I stepped in the doors. This was afternoon on a Tuesday and I believe it was me and one other patient. I can't tell you enough how wonderful and compassionate everyone was here!! All the nurses, Dr Kang and the awesome guy who did my CT scan. I wish I could remember the name of my nurse because she was amazing! Every time she came in the room she had a huge smile on her face and explained in detail what she was doing. I wish I could come back here instead of my regular doctors office but I don't think my insurance would appreciate it.
