I was hesitant to visit this location due to the low YELP ratings but I needed to confirm that I didn't fracture anything before traveling. So I went on a Thursday at about 1pm and was out of the ER by 2:30pm. I interacted with a lovely, blonde lady at the front desk, 3 nurses, Dr. Oscislawski, and an X-ray tech. Everyone was pleasant, professional and respectful. Very different experience than at another local ER I've been to. The thing about Yelp is have to consider that people are hurt and sick and if the care is not as expected, they will more than likely write a review if they felt they received poor care. And that is not to diminish anyone's lived experience. But how many will write reviews to praise staff and their experience? Interestingly, the X-ray machine was brought to my room (the gentleman explained that it's because my issue was smaller and could be done this way but won't apply for every x-ray). The kind woman at the front desk (I hate that her name escapes me now), came to my room and asked for my payment, which I thought was odd. Perhaps, a portable credit card machine might be a better option here. No disrespect to her but I'm not letting anyone take my credit/debit card out of my sight. So I just paid after I was discharged and leaving. The lobby was empty so that might not always be an efficient way to do it for them. For me, my issue was not life-threatening but I was handled with care and will definitely be bypassing the other ER for a better experience at Abrazo. read more

DO NOT use this ER!!!!!! Back in February, we took our daughter to get her chin, looked at after she cracked it open on skates. The appointment took less than 10 minutes. They put some glue and Steri-Strips on the open wound and sent us on our way. The bill for this was 2,000$!!! And another SEPARATE bill from the PA that "helped" for another 200$. After speaking with the billing department all they could offer is a payment plan. Good grief...... I am seriously in shock. I will never use any Abrazo facility again. read more

My husband who is 103 yrs old and took a very hard fall was seen at this location by Dr. Phillips and Derrick. They went above and beyond all of their duties and I couldn't have felt more pleased that we were in the best care facility. From the minute we checked in we were given assistance by Derrick and the front office. Everyone who we had contact with were amazing. When we were leaving I wasn't certain where I had left my husband's WWII cap and Jay the xray tech called me at home later that day to see if we found it. I went in as emergency and was quickly admitted into the hospital. I had pneumonia and my CO was at 88. I was very sick and everyone was so kind and professional I couldn't have gotten any better in a top notch hospital! My husband and I were so confident that the were taking care of me better than anyone could have, They only have two patients to one nurse so that you get excellent care from the nurses. The Dr. are top of the line! I had issues with my white cell count climbing and so they brought in the infectious Dr. to help figure out what was going on in my body. I was in the hospital for four and a half days and I feel quite sure if I had been in any other hospital I would have been there much longer or released to early and be returning time and time again I can not praise this Abrazo Hospita enough for all that they did for me! My husband was super sick. We went to this location. They were so good from the time we went in to leave it was so fast. They took him in and bam!!,they were working on him Dr came in didn't wait at all super fast so polite. Told us everything they were doing. Great nurses great Doctor they were incredible. caring fast got my husband feeling better. He had pneumonia. both lungs. He couldn't breathe. They were all so so good from check in all the way through thank you for caring. This is a small but fantastic ER! It has everything you need without the hassle of the big ER places. In house xray, ct scan, lab and pharmacy makes this ER better than most. They are knowledgeable, understanding and concerned with each individual patients. They have a hospital right next door that I've been at 2 different times now and have had the utmost care. While they got me right back, I dealt with a short haired nurse that severely lacks bedside manners. I was unable to finish my sentences & felt very dismissed. I wasn't going to leave a review, waste of time. I was lucky enough to have a different nurse discharging me who advised my situation did seem strange & to follow up with PCP asap - the reason they got 2x stars. However, I just read the clinical notes from my visit & it is claimed they did tests & asked me questions they never did or asked me. This seems incredibly dishonest..? And a disservice to me who was suffering & hoping to leave with answers. What a shame. read more

DO NOT RECOMMEND! I have episodic hypertension, which means that my blood pressure is usually well controlled, but occasionally goes very high. As a Registered Nurse with over 40 years experience working in hospitals, I am very familiar with how Emergency Departments operate. To illustrate what GOOD care looks like , the last time I had an episode of severe hypertension was a few years ago in California. When I arrived to the ED, I was IMMEDIATELY triaged, and was brought back for an EKG, Blood work and started on IV medication to reduce my blood pressure. I found myself in the same situation three nights ago. My prescribed blood pressure medication wasn't helping. We drove to this hospital, which was the closest. Upon arrival, I informed Susie at reception that my blood pressure was very high ( Over 220 systolic) . Susue didn't even ask me what my Blood Pressure was! I was told to sit in waiting room ( which was COMPLETELY EMPTY except for me). I waited for a good 10 minutes with absolutely no triage. I finally went and asked Susie if someone could triage me. Moments later, we were called back by Raul, the ED RN, who told me that 220 systolic is " Not that high" and that " They don't worry until the SBP is 250" HUH?? This is simply not accurate. He then proceeded to ask me how often I had taken my blood pressure before coming in. I told him three times and he told me that I shouldn't be taking it that frequently. The ED doctor was friendly and seemed to be competent. He provided me with some education on blood pressure which was semi helpful. They just took my blood pressure periodically for the next 2 or 3 hours just to make sure it was coming down with all the medications I had already taken prior to coming to the hospital. They never gave me any medications themselves to bring it down nor did they do an EKG. Of course I realized this was his decision as the physician treating me. At what point Susie came in and asked me for payment which we provided. The hospital appears to be brand new which is very nice and I really like the registration process where you can register on your phone while you're waiting to see the doctor. My biggest complaint about this hospital emergency department is the lack of triage , as well as The attitude from the nurse especially that I really wasn't presenting with an emergency. That's at least how I felt. And I know that's not the case as a Registered Nurse. I've been dealing with hypertension for several years and I know my body and if it's not coming down that I have taken every medication I have, then I have to seek emergency help. If this should happen to me again I will go elsewhere read more

Excellent care received at a Abrazo Surprise Campus Hospital on 4/23/23. We made an appointment in advance and were helped immediately upon arrival. All procedures were explained before they were performed. Everyone was very professional and kind beginning at the front desk, including all of the staff behind the scenes, nurses and doctors and emergency room technicians, etc. We highly recommend this hospital as a care facility in the Surprise Arizona area. If we ever need care in the future, we will definitely make this our first stop to go for medical care. read more

I'm not sure how I forgot to update my review considering my last couple visits were freaking awful and I won't be going back. One of course has to do with Covid related things. Went with someone a few months back feeling awful, barely able to breathe, throat on fire like never before and was treated ok until asked if vaccinated. When told no demeanor changed like that. The nurse was rude, seamed annoyed at even being asked to give some type of pain medicine...finally given some ibuprofen. It did nothing of course, but couldn't do anything about the breathing. Said they were fine and go isolate. I will say they did check oxygen stats so I know they did their job there, but literally no compassion for the fear etc. I try to be understanding, but all medical staff we saw was just awful and so nasty. I should've stayed away then, but next visit was with one of my kids regarding a possible broken bone. Dr was ok with them, but stated just a sprain and a brace given. After more escalating pain I took him to another office/Dr and it was broken. It had to be cast. Luckily I listened to my kids pain and mom instincts . All in all I know drs see a lot of patients, I get you become a little desensitized......but outright mean and uncaring not cool . read more

I'd give zero stars but can't. Brought my father in with excruciating side pain, expecting it to appendicitis, just praying it wasn't already burst. They said their 3 beds were full and no one there could see him yet. It took 40 min for just a nurse to come out and triage him. All she did was take his vitals and ask about medications and then sent us back into the lobby. After another 15 min I drove him down to the UC by Costco. Took 10 min to see a DR and there. The front desk employee was an absolute joke. And I ended up getting into a shouting match with one front desk employee who ended up telling "GET THE F*CK OUT IF HERE" All while my dad was sprawled out on a chair in the lobby dying of pain. It was like something out of a movie, I couldn't believe it. Dangerous Dangerous place. read more

Went in for a deep laceration that needed attention and stitches, had the unpleasant experience of meeting Dr. Brandon Intrieri, not only did he completely lack empathy, he made me feel like I was beneath myself and was an inconvience, minimizing my injury, when the bone and tendons were visible. He simply glued It, and when I asked for a splint he ignored my request telling me it wasn't necessary. Anyone even myself couldve stayed home and done more than that Dr did. so after leaving there I went to a better urgent care with caring drs that listen to my concerns to get stitches and a splint. The only good people at abrazo was the receptionist who was awesome and the male nurse who tried to makeup for what the Dr was lacking. read more

I cut my leg bad & er Dr didn't irrigate it & stitched it up. I had to go to my pcp next day because it wouldn't stop bleeding because er Dr didn't put enough sutures. It also got infected requiring antibiotics and a wound vac. I totally regret going there. read more

If I could give -5 stars I would. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. I am pregnant and have HG, which anyone who knows about this condition, knows that it is severe and not just ordinary "morning sickness". I have an OBGYN who prescribed me medication for my condition, but also advised because of how sick I've become that I go and get fluids before I start taking my medication because of how dehydrated I've become from throwing up nonstop. I went into this hospital and was checked in, front desk and RN was fine and took my vitals, but when Dr. L KANG came in, is when it went downhill. He was asking me normal routine questions which was fine. but when it came to letting him know about my morning sickness he went on to say "Every pregnant woman who comes in here and says their dehydrated is never dehydrated, but we'll go ahead and still run a test" (First off, no one asked you lmao, and second of all, you know that's a false statement, using exaggerating words such as "EVERY woman" proves your statement is false) how about you try showing some empathy. He then follows his statement off by saying he's so glad he's a man and walks out. What kind of doctor does that? Anyways I brushed the disrespect off because I'm already so nauseous and just want help so I can get my nausea medication for my condition. As I'm waiting I can hear him talking about me to the other nurses. I should have read the other reviews before going here because WOW!!! THE AMOUNT OF PEOPLE WHO SAY THE SAME ABOUT THE "PROFESSIONAL" Staff talking badly about them is insane. It's bad enough we're in pain and seeking help, but then to hear the staff talk and make fun of us? Why are you in this line of work if that's how you are? How would you like to hear yourself being made fun of by the doctor who is supposed to be treating you? That is absolutely disgusting and you need to rethink your career path DR. KANG if you can't be respectful and empathetic towards the patients who come in ENTRUSTING that you'll be able to help. The front staff, the x-ray tech and the nurses were beyond reproach. They were caring, knowledgeable, professional, humorous, friendly and very personable. They all deserve 10 stars. The Abrazo Surprise Hospital doctors were without question the absolute complete opposite. FYI, I am retired with 26 years of hospital life under my belt. Two visits to the ER just a couple days apart presented two cold, uninterested, lazy, egoistic, personality less individuals who rank a generous minus 10. Sparing you the boring details, neither doctor treated my inability to breath or the debilitating muscle pain that followed a short breath. Doctor #1 sent me home with 2 weak scripts, which I mentioned I had previously taken and did not help. He told me these were prescription grade, like I didn't know, and to try them out anyway. He further instructed me to come back should my symptoms continue. I left the hospital with them still continuing! A couple days more of the same symptoms, I had to go back. This time, doctor #2 sent me home with nothing at all and said she didn't understand why I came back anyway if doctor #1 couldn't figure out what was happening! She finally informed me that I "wouldn't believe all the paperwork" she'd "have to fill out" in order to prescribe what would actually help. Seriously?! At least I did have one thing confirmed after my experiences: me nor anyone else I care about will ever step foot in Abrazo again. read more

The doctor who spoke to me was kind and explained my results thoroughly. The nursing staff and technicians were very kind.. I visited this location, on January 9th, 2022. I started by scheduling a check in online at 11am. When I got there I waited until 11:45 to be seen. Once I was taken back into a room, I waited until noon for a nurse to take my vitals and ask for symptoms. I advised I was having difficulty breathing and my throat was very swollen, I could hardly swallow and felt like I was swallowing glass every time. The nurse said "sounds like you're sick, it could be COVID or severe strep throat". I advised I had taken an at home COVID test and it was negative, the nurse said "we have had a lot of false negatives and will order one" I waited an additional hour and a half for a doctor to come in and advise the same thing. Another hour later, a COVID test was taken and I waited an additional hour for the doctor to come back with the results. In total I waited 4 and a half hours and was never once checked on once I was placed in a room, not to ask if I needed medication or water, nothing. Instead I sat alone in a room, listening to the medical staff laugh and joke around In the hallway. In addition, I could hear them saying "we may not have enough COVID tests and will run out soon, if they don't look like they are on deaths doorstep, don't order one." The entire situation was terrible and the bedside manner was very subpar. Because the doctor ordered a COVID test, registration had to be taken over the phone. I hardly had a voice due to severe swelling, the registration person heavy sighed multiple times saying "I need you to use an outside voice" despite me explaining I couldn't because of the pain. When I was discharged I was told I had a severe case of COVID, but there was nothing they could offer for pain or the swelling in my throat and to go home and contact my primary care physician or go to another hospital/clinic for medication. When I got home and tried to log onto the patient portal I received via text message, I called the phone help desk and was told they should have set this up with me before I left and if I wanted to log in I would have to go back and have them register me. This whole thing has been a disaster. I would not recommend going here if it was the last hospital available. If I could give a 0 I would. read more

I was placed in a room for 4 hours where i was not checked up on. One star is too high...I wish I could give it a zero. I went there on June 7, 2023 because I was having pain in my side. It ended up being appendicitis. The Dr asked if I could be pregnant. I told her "no" that I had an ablation on my uterus, have not had a period in over 5 years AND there is no way I could be pregnant. I literally told her it would be the next baby Jesus and to not do a pregnancy test. The Dr did a pregnancy test anyways. They never told me they did the test OR gave me the test results. I looked at my bill a month afterwards and they charged me $460. I don't appreciate them doing a pregnancy test to "pad" the bill after I specifically told them NOT to do it. On September 13th I went to my regular Doctor for pain in my heal. My Doctors diagnosis was Plantar Fasciitis (heel spur) . He said I needed a cortisone shot but they don't do them there. He referred me to another office that does but they can't get me in until November 9th. It's very painful so I stop in at Abrazo and asked the receptionist it they do cortisone shots. She wasn't sure so she went to the back to ask. She came back in and told me as long as the Doctor agrees with the diagnosis that they will do the injection. So after a long wait I saw the Doctor and was told it was a bone spur( same diagnosis) but they don't do cortisone shots there. Needless to say I wasted my time. Terrible service. read more
