I just wanna leave this review for Yvonne. She was my nightmare. She's a supervisor/charge nurse. She gave me the most wonderful upmost respectful care that in healthcare you would expect and deserve the type of care that she gave me was top-tier and I'm sure she's like that with everyone else I didn't have a few issues with another nurse, but that was all taken care of and she made sure of. I do want to add on that Ivy also another charge nurse and supervisor was amazing. Ken and Diana were also amazing. There are the Medtechs and they were just also so sweet. I was on the neuroscience floor due to some neurological issues all my doctors gave me the best care. Literally if it wasn't for Yvonne I don't know how I would've pushed through the nights she constantly came in to check on that she never left my side whenever I needed to get up because of Yvonne I am now for into getting my RN certification!!! read more

The nurses and support personnel are great. The food (if you can call this food) was an absolute disaster. You mention this to any Doctor or nurse, and the answer is always the same --- YES WE KNOW !! Any self respecting food handler would not serve this kind on garbage. I'm sure, Management knows about this, and they don't make an effort to correct it, they are part of the problem. Maybe, Abrazo should check the menu at Banner. It actually is a menu, with choices and pictures, and the food is edible. One good thing about my stay at this place, --- I lost about 20 lbs. read more

This was in April. The surgery and nurses were GREAT. But check in was HORRIBLE after we paid over 4K in advance and told we were good for hip replacement surgery we were told at check in to pay over 1500 MORE co insurance. We said YOU ARE WRONG bill whatever IF THERE IS ANYTHING. After literally fighting with this WITCH I said WHAT THE F EVER HERE! Paid with my debit card. My sister was admitted here three weeks ago, there have been so many signs of her not being cared for, not being fed, bed not changed, empty wrappers from opening their supplies, left on bed and all over floor for couple of days before cleaning. And when family visits her she's sitting up talking and looks good. However, on the same day, doctor/nurses say she's doing horribly and at end of life! Other time, family walks in the room and her face is swollen, tried to ask what is going on, and they get no answers! Now they want to put her in Hospice and cut her off from dialysis because they say that is what is killing her!! I Dont buy it! Don't bring your love ones here, there is a reason for them only having two stars, pay attention people!! read more

Bottom line...terrible wait time, lack of communication, lack of compassionate care, and all around miserable experience. They were quick to run all kinds of tests within the first 12-18 hours, but took three days to "read" the results. In that time I didn't see a doctor and only saw a nurse twice a day at shift change or when an IV needed to be placed (8 times in three days!). Despite having sleep apnea and needing a CPAP I was denied my prescribed treatment for my whole stay. I was made to feel more like a funding source than a patient by keeping me in limbo in a hospital room for three days waiting results. It wasn't until I notified them I was going to leave AMA that nurses and doctors started showing up out of the woodwork. Aside from unfortunately poor operations and care, the facilities were in significant disarray. Overall, it looked run down and lacked much needed repairs and updating. read more

My fiancé came in for an outpatient hysterectomy on 11/22 had to come back on 11/28 Thanksgiving day due to a fever and infection.Today is 12/21 we are still here. Once we are discharged which may not be before Christmas, she is leaving with 3 more surgeries, a rapid response call due to unknown source of bleeding, appendix removed (no previous issues), intestinal damage (no previous issues)., 6 blood transfusions, an extremely bad infection, abdominal issues that we.are possibly going to have future issues and alot of finger pointing by the Surgeons/Doctors. As of today we still don't have answers. I asked to speak with a director of the hospital and they sent A patient advocate on Wednesday 12/18 took an incomplete report and never came back. A Doctor told us "we are chasing something we will never find out". When I told him that was unacceptable he said he had to continue his rounds and left. Mind you that was the first and only time we saw this doctor. We have been here for over 3 weeks and the only consistent care is by the nursing team. The communication from Dr to Dr department to department is absolutely terrible. Considering I am writing this from our hospital room this stay and story is not finished. And before a Abrazo representative responds and says sorry please CONTACT US through the patient experience so a representative can reach out. Ive already done so and I am still sitting here on Saturday 12/21 in our hospital room. So look us up and pay us a visit. visit. ****So I get an automated response through Google, and Yelp, and an automated call asking if I want to discuss further to call an 877#. What??? I an literally still in the hospital. So no one actually cares because all these responses are automated. I attempted to visit the ER Tuesday night and upon arrival, there were at least 35 people in the waiting area. We checked in, vitals were taken... and that's about it. I was there from roughly 9:30 pm Tuesday night until I just couldn't wait any longer and left at 5:30 am the next morning. None of the staff checked on us (save for a head count) or provided any sort of status update on where anyone was in queue, how many providers were there - nothing. The only answer they were allowed to give was that they weren't permitted to give any time frames. There were people that had been there for 10+ hours and hadn't even been seen yet - many of whom were elderly. Very sad to see. The waiting room wasn't heated at all, there were blankets, but the staff really should have had the decency to move the older folks away from that waiting room where it was warmer. Overall, I would rank this as one of the worst experiences I've had anywhere. I get that they may be understaffed, but lack of staff doesn't excuse lack of common sense. Do not come here, it would be quicker to drive to Canada and seek help there. read more

I strongly urge anyone who can choose another medical facility to do that. My experience was one of patient neglect and a complete lack of service. I was admitted Junary 2, 2024 for additional testing for severe abdominal pain. I spent 2 days at Abrazo West with no tests and next to no care. The first day while waiting for an endoscopy, I was left in a room with no one checking on me for hours. I had no water from 9 AM until 4 PM when I demanded at least some ice chips. That day came and went with no testing. On the second day, I sat in my room until 2:30 PM again with no test being performed. Attached is a picture of the care board in my room. Notice I had no doctor or care plan assigned. I left the hospital with no diagnosis and was left to find a GI Doctor on my own. While my experience at Abrazo West Campus was completely horrible, I must say the ER Team was very professional and the Nursing Staff was great, even if they couldn't do much for me. Despite coronavirus and all the crazy people coming to the hospital. I came in for surgery. They are very very prepared at this Abrazo. As soon as you walk in hospital someone is there with gloves mask telling you to clean ur hands and take a mask if needed. Went to admissions got all that taken care of and went over to out patient surgery. Again asked to clean my hands and get prepped for my surgery. It was empty when I was there since it was only 5am. By the time it was go time it was packed!!! All the nurses, the surgery techs,my anesthesiologists and my amazing gyno all took great care of me. We laughed I got a great cocktail in my IV lol. After surgery the nurses in recovery were just as amazing took wonderful care of me until it was time to go home. Went home and had to come back bc I started to bleed. How "scary " I had to wait in the ER for 5 hours even those nurses not to nice they are very rude and snippy!! Like a completely different style of nurses form outpatient surgery to ER( those ladies need a nice lesson lol) So my doctors all knew I was in the ER. But it was slammed. Anyway got seen got a pressure bandage put on my stomach and went on my merry way. This Abrazo is great! read more

First, The hospital rooms are filthy! I was admitted for phenomena and only saw a nurse for IV antibiotics every 24 hours and a nebulizer every six hours. The IV lines were never rinsed/flushed after use, causing one to clog. When one was removed, I had a LOT of bleeding as I am on blood thinners. Once that stopped, I waited over two hours for clean bedding. I was NOT receiving my daily medication, and, when I asked a nurse, I was advised to BRING MY OWN! That's right, bring my own meds to a hospital. This does not cover all the negative aspects of my stay. I am a retired Firefighter from Colorado and have never seen such a pathetic healthcare operation. With all the negative reviews this place has received, and the supposed concern responses from the hospital representative, how is this place still open? So Abrazo, unless you plan actually to do something to improve this place, do not bother responding. read more

I have heard so much negative about abrazo and always knew I'd choose a different hospital to birth at and use for my care. I ended up making a last minute choice and scheduling an induction at abrazo. It was the best decision ever! I think a lot of negative reviews come from very old old reviewers. Every single member of my team was so friendly and helpful. Every nurse, every provider, and admission staff too. Our process was always informed and detailed. Our rooms were clean and the PP rooms are updated and newer. We had such a great experience I really recommend people looking to give birth to consider this hospital! The only downside with staffing issues is it takes about two hours for food to get to you. We just were informed by nurses to call very early on and we did and got our meals delivered at the appropriate time. So make sure you order your meal very early if this is still the case. Otherwise everything is pretty great! They do offer moms and babies all the necessary items for recovery and your stay! read more

I visited here twice. The first time I was seen quickly, they made room for me to admit me so I wouldn't continue to wait, and gave me a fast prescription. The PA was very kind as well. They had told me to come back if my symptoms worsened, and three days later, I did, in excruciating pain. This is the second visit. I sat crying in the waiting room, with maybe four other people yet to be admitted, for two hours. I was not seen. When I asked for any kind of update, the staff was very rude and said they could not provide any kind of timeframe. I ended up leaving and seeking care at another emergency department up the road. It wasn't until four hours elapsed, when I was already at home from the other hospital, that I received a call from the front desk that they could admit me. read more

While driving through Arizona my brother had a stroke. He was taken to Abrazo Hospital. The ER nurses were terrible. We were left for hours without seeing even a nurse and when we did see a nurse it was like we were a burden to them. Luckily we were transferred to the stroke unit where the culture changed and we were treated like human beings. Right away the unit of 3 nurses came into the room to settle him in. Each person introduced themself to us which is a simple gesture but the first people to do it. They all worked together bringing in supplies and helping each other. These nurses on first floor south department were down to earth and very helpful explaining the treatment plan and letting us know what would happen next. They turned a stressful situation into a more positive and comfortable experience. They are very knowledgeable and actually cared about the work they did. The first night nurse Evon (I'm sure I butchered her name) was an ice breaker for us. We laughed most of the night but really helped us get through the scary part. We met Eleanor and we could tell they have worked side by side for a while because they kept us laughing. The day shift had the same excitement, knowledge and enthusiasm as our first encounter with the night nurses. Claudia and Irene provided a lot of support and ensured testing was done timely and discharge went smooth. I read all the reviews and was worried about coming here. The good experience on the stroke unit outweighed the bad experience in the ER. Thank you to the nurses that enjoy their jobs and are able to create an atmosphere of caring and healing. We couldn't have asked for better care than the care that we received in this small unit that runs around with big hearts. The whole unit worked together and we could see that with every interaction. I have had a wonderful experience here at Abrazo West Campus Hospital, The Nursing staff have been Amazing. I have been here for 6 days on the 3rd floor waiting for myself to have a procedure tomorrow and the Director of Nursing for this floor has been very helpful to my needs here and the Nurses like Sherry T and Kaci and Gabby and Damaris and Frankie have been so kind and patient. I only have great things to say so that is why I give them 5 stars. I feel the the staff have went above & beyond to make my stay as comfortable as possible. read more

An update: I've since come to learn that Abrazo West lied when they said we met our deductible. They haven't even fully billed our insurance so our insurance company has no idea that we paid the full deductible. Now, as my husband goes to follow up appointments, it shows that he has not met any part of the deductible and we are being billed above and beyond what we should be paying because Abrazo told us that we met our deductible when they never even submitted the claims. The correct statement is that we WILL meet our deductible but had not yet because they had not sent any claims through our insurance plan. As such, I have disputed the charge with my credit card company and have filed a complaint with Arizona Dept of Health Services. ADVICE: Do not give these people any money when they approach you while you're exhausted and your love one is on pain meds. They lie. Make them run it through your insurance and/or give you a detailed accounting of charges. Extremely predatory and unethical. read more

My wife broke her arm. We went to the ER. Checkin was speedy. Then a nurse, didn't get his name but he was bald and had a red haired beard, forced my wife's arm into a sling. The nurse told her that she caused her own pain and had a horrible attitude towards her. Rest of the night was no issue. Fast forward 2 days later. We are at an orthopedic office. Doctor needs images to be able to formulate a healing plan. Abrazo is completely unresponsive and won't help with giving us images. They initially told us it would take 6-8 weeks to get these images. BTW, bones heal in 4-6 weeks. Now we are forced to get another CT. Wonder why insurance is higher than it needs to be? If you want friendly staff and timely service for your healing go elsewhere. I was taken to Abrazo by ambulance because I had severe abdominal pain and vomiting. For hours I was writhing in 10/10 pain, retching and at times wailing and crying. The nurse told me to be quiet. They refused to treat my pain bc I have a "contract with my pain dr." I was puzzled by this. Yes, I have a pain dr because I have a legitimate painful condition. I imagine my out of state pain dr would want me to be treated and stabilized. That's their way of saying "we don't want the liability" of treating a patient that's in genuine, dire pain. While I was there, I received multiple rounds of anti-nausea meds intravenously. I asked the doctor 3 times to prescribe me anti-nausea meds. The last time I was practically begging. No rationale, no explanation, just a hard NO. This is not a narcotic, or controlled substance, this is specifically to treat nausea. The doctor's outright refusal resulted in me returning to the ED the next day vomiting blood. The nurse insisted on discharging me when I was still feeling incredibly ill. I said I'm not well enough to be discharged. He flippantly told me there's nothing else they could do for me, they needed the bed for people sicker than me. As he wheeled me out I felt so sick and nauseous I could barely move. I freed up a bed for someone else to suffer at the hands of these incompetent, uncaring nincompoops. read more

I was transferred to this hospital from the ER with Colitis. The Abrazo Hospital was filthy. The doctors would not listen to my medical history. I have Parkinson, I take a medication that hospitals do not carry. I kept a bottle in my car for emergencies and took it to the hospital. I explained that I must take the medication three times a day and can not miss a dose. Due to the lack of the Rytary medication in my system, I was shaking so badly it was terrible. On top of the doctors refusing to give me my medication, they were giving me IVs of Flagyl antibiotic that makes the shaking worse. Needless to say, I didn't sleep all night. Once I got out of the hospital, I researched the medication I was given. it clearly states it's not a good medication for someone with a nervous system condition. The evening doctor that came in when I was admitted to the hospital was Dr. Aldean he was terrible. Had no clue what he was doing. There was a patient with a very contagious condition C-diff. Her door was open all of the time. This was crazy, her condition is extremely contagious. 100% do not recommend this hospital. The only good thing was the nurses. They were nice but clearly overloaded with work. read more

My mom just spent two days at Abrazo for surgery. Other than a LONG wait for a room after her procedure, we were very impressed with this hospital. Folks at admissions were friendly and helpful. Nurses on her floor (by room 354) were AMAZING! They attended to mom and were very kind. Even gave us helpful tips before we left. I ask if this was the child care and that told me, yes up front ( and took an hour to get checked in with my daughter suffering because she couldn't hold down medicine. And when I go in finally to check her vitals they. They told me it wasn't the Children's Hospital, but they weren't gonna tell me that upfront because of some law. But they were willing to tell me they had no room and that I had to wait in the lobby. The lady who told me was very rude. The one that check her vitals and I wish I had her name to report her. But I don't recommend this hospital to anyone. They lack the empathy of customers that are ill and injured. And they treat customers like a paycheck instead of a patient. I wrote this review over a year ago to share my experience with Abrazo West. When I received a message from their representative, I was hopeful that this matter would finally be resolved. However, after months of no word from them (after sharing my contact information as they requested), I am frustrated more than ever. It's been 2 years since my visit to their hospital, and although I've tried numerous times to contact them, I still receive bills saying that I owe hundreds of dollars for a visit that is verifiably covered through the insurance I had at that time. I am at a loss for what I should do, and I strongly urge anyone to find another hospital to go to if they are able. I will never be returning to Abrazo West after experiencing how they've handling this (or not handled this, as is obvious by their ghosting me). I will also warn off anyone I know from even considering going here in the future, as you should too, whoever is reading this As I said in my initial review, I believe it would be in Abrazo West's best interest to higher staff that understand and execute professionalism. Unfortunately, from my experience with this hospital to date, I don't believe this will ever be possible because as a whole, they do not know what professionalism even is. read more

I will never use Abrazo West again for three reasons: 1.) May 24th was at the ER for 5 hours for a significant dog bite. I was prescribed an NSAID for pain. When I told the nurse I couldn't take it because I was on blood thinners, he said, "so." I was also prescribed a penicillin despite being allergic to penicillin so there was a delay getting started on antibiotics after the dog bite. 2.) June 11th I was in the ER because my leg (with the dog bite) had swelled up from knee to toes. I waited in a chair in the hallway for 8 hours, virtually ignored. Only when we asked to be discharged so we could go somewhere else did they decided to move me to a bed and take my situation seriously. They ordered a CTScan, but in the end, I couldn't trust the CTScan because the person who read my CTScan indicated in the report that my appendix was normal when in fact, I do not have an appendix. 3.) I was in the ER on June 24th. I was diagnosed with a viral infection despite the fact the blood work pointed to a bacterial infection. The day after, my blood cultures came back indicating that I have bacteria in my blood. They also once again tried to prescribe an NSAID and when I turned it down, the doctor told me it was okay for me to take NSAIDs, which every other doctor I've ever visited has always said to never take NSAIDs while on blood thinners. I also expressed concerns for my high white blood count because I am immunodeficient and was concerned that an infection could become very dangerous for me very quickly like it has been in the past. Abrazo west is simply not a safe ER. I've been prescribed medications I should not be taking 3 times across two different visits. I have been informed that I have an appendix despite it being removed in 12th grade. I was also misdiagnosed with a viral infection when everything about my blood work pointed to a bacterial infection. If what I have now turns into Sepsis, I will be suing Abrazo West. read more
