This place should be called Absolute SH$T!!! The owner is an Absolute idiot!! I made an appointment for Monday July 4, 2022, to bring my 1960 Ford F100 truck in for an engine diagnostic. On the morning of Monday July 4, 2022, I received a call that they didn't have room and they would call me to let me know when they would be ready to look at the truck. Absolute SH$T never called me back, I had to call them 3 times to get my appointment. The truck was finally delivered to them on July 25, 2022, I was told (quote) they would get right on it. In 34 weeks since I dropped of the Truck off, I received nothing but excuses, I had enough pick up the truck on November 28, 2022, with no diagnostic and the engine torn apart, no labeling and every thrown in the bed of the truck. I will be taking them to small claims court, please let me know if you have had any of the same issues. read more

Absolute Auto has always provided us with honest estimates and detailed information about our repairs required - not just "it's going to be $500, do you want to do it or not?", like other shops, or lowballing an estimate, then trying to nickel and dime you into paying more along the way. Instead they give detail like, "This problem is happening because of this part, and it's this percentage worn. If you'd like to come in and see the worn part, I can show you in person, so you can see what it's doing. If you don't want to do anything about it right now, it'll probably last you X miles more without problem, and you can fix it then, but if it fails, it will cause damage to these other parts, and cost X dollars more to fix." and letting us make the choices for our vehicles and our budget. We really value that from Absolute Auto. They always answer the phone if they're open, and get back to us with updates on a repair if there are stages or new information we might want to know or make a decision about. We've been bringing both our vehicles here since we moved to the area just over a year ago (one domestic, one import) for routine maintenance and oil change/smog service, as well as any repairs required. Highly recommended by our family. This was the rudest experience I have ever had. I am a vendor and went in to ask about some information and the guy yelled at me and was so rude to me. I was also going to ask about car repair but after he said to me "Don't care" I realized I would never want to do business with this company. The poor guy at the counter was so uncomfortable as was the customer in the waiting room. I have been taking my truck here for oil changes since we moved to the west coast. They do good, timely work, for a fair price. I recently had my brake rotors planed to reduce a wobble, and they checked all of the rotors, and only charged me to fix the one causing the issue. That kind of honest mechanic work is why I come here. The wobble under braking is gone, the truck runs great, and they rotated my tires for free since they were off the truck anyway. Great diagnostics. Wants your car to be right. Told me that if they can't make your car last longer and run better then they are the wrong shop for you. Translation-my experience. They pointed out additional small thing a which no one else noticed and when they showed me i went, oh boy that is a problem waiting to happen. Wires dangling beneath the car, universal boots that were torn. From sway bar that didn't damped the steering anymore. Explained the death vibration that occasionally occurred getting into the freeway. I came in for only a check engine light. They didn't force the additional items only wanted me to be aware of them. I decided to repair most of them. Wire was just tuck it up back into the harness no charge. Love these guys read more

If I could give no star to Absolute Auto Tech, I would. Needed a new AC system. Paid close to $1700 for it. It completely broke within 9 months. I was then told that used parts had been installed so there was no warranty. Were they kidding me? I had been led to believe the system being installed was new. And they refused to stand behind their work. I filed a complaint with the Bureau of Automotive Repair and they "found" for me, but sent me to small claims because they have no teeth to make the vendor pay restitution. So frustrating! read more

Don't go here. My girlfriend took our car here for a typical $300-400 repair and they gave her a $1200 estimate. They also said her clutch fluid needed changing. It's an automatic and there is no clutch. They also said they road tested it and that would have been impossible since it wouldn't start and we had to have it towed both there and away. This is a shop that rips off people that don't know about car mechanics. read more

Absolutely the BEST SERVICE. I was up at Cal Poly for a few days of meetings when my back rear brake started making an awful sound. They immediately looked at my tire and put it up in a rack and found a small rock on the brakes. I was in and out in 30 mins. Amazingly fast and friendly service. read more

Absolute Auto is an amazing shop! When I got my new (to me) car it needed to have about 5 things done on it. I was expecting it to be much more expensive than it was and on top of that the service was amazing! The people at the counter explained to me in detail about what needed to be done and why it needed to be done. They also explained to me what should be done in the future but that it didn't need to be done right away. They gave me my estimate, and told me when I would get my car back, and I had it back exactly when they said. I would recommend them to anyone who needs quality car service! We brought in a problem that was not an easy diagnosis, but the Absolute crew started with the potential easy fix, which turned out not to be the source of the issue, so they kept digging in until they found the real root of the problem. Please, please never go to this shop. They wanted to charge for a smog check that they could not even determine if it was a pass or a fail. I just replaced the battery on the car, so the engine data memory was wiped clean. With no data, they could not pass the smog. They said it failed, but how could they make any valid conclusions? They wasted my time and theirs. They were amazingly stuborn at their desire to take my money. They demanded that I never return to their shop again. A simple yes or no question before the test began would have prevented this entire mess. "Did your car recently go without any electrical power? If so, we won't have the necessary information to make any conclusive pass or fail decision." I drive 2003 Hyundai, and am confident the car is clean. read more

These guys seem nice and talk a good talk but I feel completely ripped off by them. After breaking down on the 101 my vehicle was towed to their shop. I was told it was the radiator and it would cost $1400 for them to replace the radiator and hoses! These guys knew that me and my family were stranded 3 hours from home and took complete advantage of our situation. I later found out the radiator should have cost 1/3 of what they charged me. As if that were not bad enough, after 4 hours of waiting we finally pulled away and got less than a mile when the check engine light started flashing. I called them right away and they told me to come back, which I did. Within 5 minutes they were trying to get me to sign another agreement to pay for repairs!! I was so upset but what choice did I have as they were telling me if I drove it there could be permanent damage to my engine. It ended up costing me another $185. They obviously take advantage of people and do not even stand behind their own work. Avoid this place if at all possible! read more

Had a smog check and it was quick and easy - got me in the same day and I was in and out in under 20 minutes. Very friendly.

I sent my daughter, a college student, to Mat's for a brake job. She told him she needed front brakes and to turn one of the rotors. He charged her $89 to verify what she already knew, and offered to do the job for an additional $340 on top of the diagnostic fee, for a total of $430 plus tax! At same time he recommended over $500 of additional repairs, which were unnecessary. He also told her it is not their policy to give her the old parts at the end of the repair. I ended up sending her to another shop where they did the job for half the price. We won't be going back to Mat's in the future. read more

It is true that the shop is expensive, but I would say you get what you pay for. They do very high quality work, are reliable and honest, use excellent parts, and you pay accordingly. If you want the cheapest shop in town, this is definitely not it. This is not only a local family shop, it is a local family shop owned by a certified mechanic with his bachelor's degree in engineering from Cal Poly. I have received good service when I brought my car in, and I have never had a problem or complaint with their work.
