I brought in my 89 325is for services and they were more then helpful in what my car needed and found issues that's needed fixing. But when I went in the second time to fix my tie rod I picked up my car with visible bumper damaged. I called to speak to Eric the owner, and was told he was not available till the following week. I asked for an email so he may be able to read what has happened since he's been gone. I sent the email October 6th and it's since been about a week with no response. It's unfortunate that I wasn't informed as soon as the damaged happened or any of the workers make me aware. But for no one to reach out with a word or even a resolution is very disappointing. At risk of updating my review of this shop too often, I am compelled once again to comment on my latest, recent experience. I won't elaborate on the details because this visit gets a little complicated to explain. It involved an accident I had (minor but BMW parts are expensive!) and I ended up filing a claim with my insurance company. That's where it gets complicated. But suffice to say, the team at Bavarian really stood up for me, and went over the top again to resolve the problem while saving me a lot of money. I needed to bring my pristine 1998 M Roadster in for a fluid change so I could get updated tags, a smog check. I get a call from Cole saying he hit something and cracked the headlight. No big deal just a headlight, well as it turns out quite a bit more than that. Need a new hood, bumper and headlight. I never would have seen the extent but I stopped by the body shop to see how things were going. Wow caught me by surprise. They took care of the body ok but still charged me for the oil change. Stated they can't do a drive cycle to reset monitors for smog. Even though it's basic work. I had did it myself before as a non mechanic and was having a hard time this time. Service advisor acted like I asked to re build a motor for free. Kinda at a loss for being told they won't do it. Update. Owner responds acting like he knows how the conversations went down. I was attempting to be a paying customer. I have went to a normal shop and there are no pending codes. So don't make blanket statements. But your lack of customer service. Then your knee jerk reactions on Yelp as an owner are downright appalling. I can see why people are saying you guys have slipped. It's not rude when it's true and your customer service skills have trickled down to your employees. A simple google search will also tell you it should take no longer than 15 min for one drive cycle, and may need to be done 5 times for my particular motor. Sounds like a 2 hour job, you are just too busy to take a job that might actually take the whole time you charge someone. Instead of one you can charge for 4 hours and be done in 1. Sounds like you aren't interested because you can't maximize your dollar. If it's something you do why was I turned down? I didn't ask it it be done right there or for free so your response makes no sense. And the implication that I wasn't trying to pay is disrespectful. Actually after reading all the other reviews it's pretty common that anyone that has a an issue with your customer service is "hyperbolic". Your responses are such. read more

I took my BMW to another place in SLO and the charge was almost $400 for the same work that was done for well under $100 with Bavarian. Eric (owner) was really polite and no non-sense. I ask him for a complete "What do I need for my BMW"... He had my car for the day and said.... "Your go to go!"... I didn't need any maintenance or anything for another 3000 miles. Heck, he could of sold me breaks, oil change, radiator, etc.... and made a quick buck.. but instead he was very honest and a mechanic with integrity. About a year ago, my 1999 Mercedes E320 broke down and would not start. I chose to have it towed to Bavarian Auto Haus. This was a good choice. The repairs were done promptly and at a very reasonable price. My car now needed routine servicing and I took it to Bavarian Auto Haus. Since we have only one car, I asked about being dropped off at home in Nipomo. I was told that the servicing would not take very long and that I was welcome to wait while servicing was being done. My wife was skeptical, but I took a book and relaxed in the lobby. Indeed, the servicing was done efficiently in less than an hour! In my humble opinion nobody on the Coast will provide more service, a better deal and treat you with total respect. I'd been to this place once when it was in Shell Beach about 12 years ago when one of the HID bulbs in my 330ci ZHP went out. They found me a set of replacement bulbs for a great price and proceeded to change them out for me for prob 40% of what the dealer wanted to charge just for the bulbs. A few days ago, the water pump on my '13 E92 335is went out so I called them to see what they could do (I refuse to let the dealership do any repairs on my car, long story). First he asked how I knew it was the water pump and when I explained that I have a BMW specific scan tool (I was expecting the typical attitude when you tell a mechanic how to do his job), he was very friendly about it (+1) and told me that he would see what he could do and get back to me with a quote. He came back with a great quote and explained that he could have the parts the next day so I had the car towed there the next morning. He also explained that they change out a couple of hoses and the thermostat that would also be worn and are difficult to get to which was in the already low quote (minimal cost since they're already there). I picked the car up and it was perfect! They were very friendly and very honest. I had a question that I wanted to ask but they were very busy at the time so I didn't get to ask, but I also appreciate that instead of standing around talking, they want to get the work done (especially on a Friday afternoon when people are expecting to have their cars back for the weekend). If you have a European car and need work done or questions, I highly recommend Bavarian Autohaus. They do top notch work and use factory parts (which also means that their parts and work have a two year/24K mile guarantee). They are also friendly and will give you a no BS assessment which is such a relief in today's world where everyone is always trying to cheat you out of your hard earned money. read more

The staff here is knowledgeable and definitely seems to care about their customers. I had an issue where I could smell oil burning, and went in to have it checked out. I called them and Eric said come in right away and I will look at it. He took his time to carefully determine everything that was leaking, and warned me of impending radiator hose failure. He gave me an estimate and advised me what the best course of action would be to take care of the biggest problems first. When I took the car in, they got the work done in a very timely manner for a good price. This is not my first time going to this mechanic and most certainly would not be the last. If you have a German car, I can't imagine why you would take it anywhere else. Eric has been at this for a very long time, originally in Shell Beach. He's always able to get the right part at a fair price, but fair isn't always very affordable! Today was a good example; My car wouldn't start and he told me it was the starter. He replaced it, but the almost $400 was a surprise, as he had not given me an estimate beforehand. So next time I go back, I'll make sure to ask for an estimate, and hopefully won't have to go back anytime soon. If there's one improvement I can suggest, it's to stop bickering about my car, please! I had previously gone to Honda of Santa Maria for an air conditioning fix for my Mini Cooper. They were the only place locally that had the equipment to diagnose my issue. After paying an exorbitant amount of money to replace Freon. Santa Maria Honda did not detect a giant leak. All the Freon I paid for escaped. I'm back at square one. On to my experience here, with Eric and Ben in Arroyo Grande. Though they did not have the specialized equipment to FIX my vehicle, they did not charge me for actually diagnosing my issue. I just moved from Southern California, i went for a few repair shops in San Luis Obispo. I was really disappointed from the price very expensive for nothing ( the dealer was cheaper) :/ . And on top not professional ( they assume problems they don't know) I have a knowledge about cars . and in Mercedes to assume it's hundreds to thousands!! Couple of things about Eric : Professional - after a second he checked and give me answers. Didn't charge me for checking and adding transmission fluid!! Fast - for me it's important ! not the places that ask your car for 2 days while the work 2 hours and charge you for 2 days at the shop. I got an answers in couple of minutes . I saw people get in and out happy . and after my experience I was really happy to know that I found my mechanic in San Luis Obispo county ! I went to assist my dear friend, sometime back, when her car broke down and some one suggested she take her 533i to Eric, who was extremely, un personal , demeaning and rude. Took my mom's Mercedes that she inherited from her mother in for service. One thing after another needed to be fixed; totalling thousands of dollars. While it was a hassle for me going back and forth for more fixes, the guys went above and beyond. They even picked up the car and delivered it to my work. My mom is happy to have this sentimental car running smoothly. Oil changes are about $150. I assume they're cheaper than the dealership in SLO.
