I can't even begin to say how much comfort Matt and his staff gave to me and my family during the most difficult time of my life. From the very first telephone conversation and throughout the planning and the actual service Matt was very compassionate and went above and beyond in taking care of every detail. He not only cared about our family, but all the people coming to pay their final respects......it was a hot day and they set up a table with cold drinks and goodies while people stood in line outside. I just attended a viewing on a very cold night and saw the same care given once again....... we waited outside in line with heaters, hot beverages and goodies. The caring and services offered doesn't end when your loved one's funeral is over. Grieco Family Funeral Home offers a Grief Journey Workshop, all are welcome. Another beautiful gesture is the Service of Remembrance; once again, open to all who wish to attend. My first attendance to this service was with a dear friend who also lost her husband. We both left with a new feeling after a wonderfully planned night where we listened to a guest speaker, were entertained by wonderful musicians, enjoyed delicious food, shared memories, laughter and tears with others in the same situation. My next step that I will lean on them for is to assist me with a grave monument. Unlike lots of other companies that offer this service, Grieco Family Funeral Home has never pressured me; only offered to be of service when I'm ready for this next stage. Matt Grieco and his staff are an amazing group of people to have for support during and after a very trying time. From the very first phone call with Bill Doherty, to our appointment making arrangements, the multiple phone calls and e-mails with our questions and requests during the planning, to the actual service and burial, everything went amazingly smooth and with the utmost compassion and respect towards my family. My mom was Scottish and we wanted to honor her Scottish heritage. I dropped off several tartan table runners, scarves and various items for decorating the tables, as well as dozens of framed pictures, and a special table for guests to offer a Scottish toast to bid mom farewell. I thought I'd have to do the decorating myself, but was so relieved to see the place beautifully decked out as we arrived early for the family visitation hour. We didn't have to lift a finger, which was so appreciated. They arranged for a bagpiper at my request (he was amazing), arranged the details with our musician, created beautiful brochures and mass cards for the service, set up all the flowers, etc, and did a great job stopping traffic during the procession to All Saints Cemetery. I had so many compliments from family and friends on how classy and beautiful everything was. My family and I cannot thank Bill Doherty, Martha, Rose, and the rest of the wonderful staff enough for their compassion, patience, and overall professionalism. I got on the phone with Ryan, with all the concerns of my wife's family written down, I was put at ease with his knowledge and reassurances. It was very easy speaking with Ryan on how my mother-in-law would be delivered to the funeral home and then prepared for travel to another state. Ryan was very accommodating with preparing for the viewing and presentations of my mother-in law's life. Having not gone through this before, we had a lot of questions and apprehensions. All of our concerns were answered respectfully and delicately. My mother-in law was displayed with beauty and honor. Every detail was thought of for the viewing which enabled us to focus on family and friends who paid their respects.

The older gentleman was rude and belligerent. Because my husband passed away at home suddenly, we did not have a doctor to sign the death certificate, this man said to my son and myself that he was taking the BODY anywhere until we had a doctor sign off on my husband. He kept saying to us DO YOU HEAR ME. We were on the phone with Perry Point to get them to sign the DC which take a wait to get anyone there. He said I am leaving, I said you are going to just leave my husband in the bedroom dead, his reply was have someone come and take him to Baltimore (I guess he was talking about the morgue) and he left my son and I with my dead husband. I called Foard's in Rising Sun they came out right away and handle getting the death certificate signed, they were amazing. I wanted the community to hear just how Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home P.A. treated my son and I at the worst time in our lives. Treated us with told disrespect and rude beyond anything I have ever experienced. Please save yourself from their torcher and do not allow them to do this to your family. If they did this to us, they have done it before and will do again. She was matter-of-fact, cold, and lacked every ounce of empathy you would expect from someone in this line of work. The entire interaction was substandard from start to finish. They waited until the very last minute to confirm insurance causing services to be pushed back an entire week, stalled on shipping ashes the same day payment was made, and then had the nerve to complain about their staffing shortages like that was my problem. Let me be clear -- when a family is grieving, they don't want excuses, they want compassion and professionalism. I even called and left a message for the owner, and to this day have NEVER received a call back. That alone tells you everything you need to know about how little they value families in their care. The only bright spot was Carl -- the ONLY person at this establishment who acted like he had some sense and helped hold us together during this chaos. Honestly, I wouldn't let them bury my goldfish. You'd be better off buying an acre of land, grabbing a shovel, lighting a bonfire, and burying your loved one yourself. That would be handled with more care than what we experienced here. Do yourself a favor: skip this place. Your loved one deserves way better.

My wife and I recently purchased our burial plot and could not have been happier with the service we received. Everyone we dealt with were kind, compassionate and professional. My experience with other cemeteries in the area were not as good as my experience with Cathedral. I highly recommend them.
