I asked them to investigate further in case the problem returned, but they declined, saying "there's nothing we can do." They never entered the home, never inspected anything, and only briefly stepped out of their van into my driveway to talk to me before leaving. At no point during the scheduling call was I told there would be a service fee. When the techs arrived, they made no mention of a charge, nor did they provide any kind of invoice or paperwork before leaving. I later received three bills by mail, each demanding $130, with no explanation of what the charge was for -- just a warning that failure to pay would result in the account being sent to collections. I did not believe the charge was warranted and disputed it in writing via certified mail with return receipt, which Universal Electric received and signed for. They never responded. No follow-up, no phone call, no documentation -- just silence. Eventually, they turned the matter over to a collection agency. It's frustrating to be billed for a visit where no service was performed, no agreement was made, and no information was shared upfront about potential charges. Based on this experience, I would not recommend Universal Electric.

This lack of communication is all I am able to review. As a client, communication is one of the most important aspects I look for in a contractor because my time is valuable.

The guys they sent out did an amazing, amazing job…read more It's so crazy to me because there were all these things around our house that we were like "Man, I wish we could put a light here", or "I wish there was a light here", or "I wish this light didn't flicker when it's turned on". These guys did it all, and totally blew us away. They installed a bathroom ceiling vent fan/light and it looks and works amazing, they installed a bunch of new lights on the outside of the house, and they even swapped out an old light on a wall we didn't like with an LED, then when I said the LED was too bright they - without even remotely complaining - installed a dimmer switch there for me instead. I had a bunch of super old phone wires running across the basement that I'd been trying to remove but I didn't know if they were live or anything. Just because I asked, the team cut out all those old phone wires and made it look so much nicer in the basement because of that, so incredibly happy that got done. Pricing was super fair for the amount of work that was done, so that was super great when I got the final total at the end Could not say enough good thing about this company! Literally the only thing that is a bummer is they're so good that whenever I call they're always 3+ weeks out because so many people want to work with them, but even then they're worth the wait! Said it was due to a lot of looky-loos, fine. They gave us some estimates quickly, and I contacted them back via email to ask to go ahead with one of the two items. Never got a reply. So I called the office, was told someone would call me back, no one ever did. We ended up going with another electrician who did BOTH our items (installing an electric car charger and installing a new light fixture in a room that previously didn't have one) for just a bit more than AES had bid for JUST the light install. Not impressed and ticked off that we wasted $29 and we couldn't even get a return call or email.

They did fine work came very quickly, getting the work done within a couple of weeks. However, they charged $80 to just come and look at our house. Then, they bid low, when they first came they said $1,000 to $1,200. Then, they came and did the work, taking less than then they originally said, but they charged us $1,640. They never stopped to tell us why they charged us more, they just did. So, don't trust the bid & know that they will take as much as they can. This job shouldn't have cost more that $800 so, we were already over paying. We are feeling kind of cheated
