Zemira at this salon is extremely creative and talented. Many hair stylists can cut long hair,and do blow outs all day long....but can they cut short hair? I was on vacation and needed a haircut. My hair is not easy to cut, so I've been told. I had Zemira cut my hair and she is so talented, easy going, and attentive. It was one of the best haircuts I've ever had! I highly recommend Zemira for all of your hair needs, long or short! I wish she lived near me, I'd be one of her regulars! Another great thing about Zemira is she asks a lot of questions to make sure she understands what you want and she listens! Many hair stylists don't listen, they just do what they want. I was at Hilton Waikoloa Village for a conference, and I wanted to get a haircut before I gave my presentation. I found Michelle on Yelp and gave her a call. She said she closed at 5 and I told her I was headed over. We got lost on the way so by the time we got there it was already close to 5. I called her and she had already closed for the day, but she came back to give me my haircut anyways. She gave me a good haircut for $20, and most importantly, my girlfriend approved. It was a little shorter than I intended but it came out quite nice and I looked sharp for my presentation :-). If you want a quick, efficient and competent cut and style this is the place to come. My husband loves getting in and out without conversation. I, on the other hand, enjoy the conversation and enjoyed the owners ability in that area. It is small, warm, with limited seating. The nail artist fors not do acrylics and only comes a couple of days a week so check ahead. read more

Michelle did a wonderful job putting up my hair for a formal award banquet. I met with her a couple of days before the event to go over ideas. I received so many compliments that evening. Staying in a VRBO rental in Waikoloa Village for the winter and needed a mani/pedi. I didn't want to drive into the Kona or Waimea areas (too far & way too much traffic), nor did I want to pay the grossly overpriced fees at the resorts; luckily, in my research I found Absolute Salon which is within walking distance (for me) of where we are staying. I was pleased that as a visitor to the island during the high season I had no problem getting an appointment. Malia gave me a great pedi. The one comment I have is it would be good if in addition to cleaning/sanitizing the pedi tub by hand the nail techs would use disposable plastic inserts in the pedi tub. Great color selection of regular polish. The manicure was also good but I felt the color selection for the gel/shellac polish was limited. With that said I did find a fun gel/shellac color to put on my fingers. The price I paid was equivalent to what I pay at home which I appreciate. I will use this salon again for my mani/pedi and I will request Malia. read more

Got a pedicure here yesterday. The service was great. She even took time to put a Hawaiian flower on my nails! I didn't even ask for that - so sweet of her. My reason for 4 stars? They could do better about cleaning the pedicure chairs. read more

Wonderful salon ! We were staying at Paniolo Greens and I stumbled upon this salon while walking through the shopping complex. This is within walking distance. They accommodated me as a walk in appointment for a pedicure and while I was there accommodated a walk in manicure also. I thought everyone there was very pleasant I would recommend this shop to anyone in the area! read more

I scheduled a 3:00 pedicure but got in around 2:30 and they were able to take me early. Their selection of colors was average. I usually have a pedicure every two weeks but had been so busy pre-vacation I hadn't had one in at least a month. The nail tech did a great job on my feet. Trimming my nails, removing calluses & cuticles and finishing with a nice foot massage. The price was on par with what I pay at home. I would recommend this salon for a pedicure. read more

Owner contacted me via email sometime after this appeared, and at first seemed genuinely horrified. She said she had no idea she had missed an appointment, wasn't sure when it was, it wasn't in the system for the date I claimed, and she apologized profusely and offered me a free return visit. All of that was well and good, until she HAD to add that she needed to "take my word for it and trust that I was being honest" because she didn't know who I was and had no record of the appointment -- either the one she missed, or the pedicure the prior day. First, that confirms that I would have waited forever, because she wasn't merely late, she wasn't coming at all. Second, her deliberate choice of words basically translates as "I think you're lying." So, what I did was scan a copy of my receipt from my pedicure and my appointment card for the hair, and emailed them to her, and gave her all the details of my appointments, dates, times, etc., with my full name. Never heard from her again. Classy. read more

The jury is still out. I requested some pricing to have my daughter's hair braided in corn rows. That was a week ago with out an response of any sort. Used the form on the web site as there wasn't an email address to be found. Not a great start, disappointed. Was finally emailed back and told they don't offer the service we were looking for. Highly disappointed in this establishment, I had an appointment scheduled for my 'wedding do' and the morning of, the stylist called and cancelled all of our appointments, two other family members had scheduled appointments as well. I understand having emergencies but the stylist didn't even offer suggestions of other salons, here I am stranded on my wedding morning frantically scrambling to find someone available at the last minute to help me....I had read the reviews previously to booking my appointment and had felt uncomfortable with the negative feed-back but went against my better judgement anyway, lesson learned....what a horrible experience, I am thankful for the stylist at Graciela's who took the time during her lunch to ensure I was taken care of on my special day. read more

I came to Absolute Salon the day of my wedding to have my hair curled and styled very simply. Upon mentioning the word "wedding" the price automatically jumped up to over $50, though what I was asking for was not a traditional wedding updo. I sent the owner a picture of what style I was looking for so she would have time in advance to prepare. I came to the salon and she was sipping in a soda while doing my hair. She told me she would be doing my curls slightly tighter than I wanted because my wedding wasn't for another 3 hours. I was familiar with that technique so it was okay with me. She proceeded to talk and gawk over another bride in the salon that day being quite inattentive to me. It took forever for her to loosly curl my hair. She put very little hairspray in my hair. It was no wonder that my curls had essentially disappeared by the end of my ceremony. I literally have pictures where the back of my hair is completely straight. I do NOT recommend this salon. It's not worth the time or money. read more
