Abstracta is a great gallery for picking up unusual souvenirs that don't necessarily scream Key West. For the most part you get the feeling that their goods could be sold at just about any funky shop, but there are a few pieces that are touristy enough to remind you where you got them from. For example, I picked up a retro style Florida map wall-mounting bottle opener that highlighted Key West for me and a sugar skull dog skeleton bottle opener that resembles their pup as a gift for my hosts. They also had replicas of sugar skulls, tin signs, and these captivating, unique steampunk style light covers with movable parts.

Really cool stuff in here. Stop in. If you buy in quantity you can haggle them. My husband got a bunch of those 3D lamps for a sweet deal when he brought 10!

Very nice array of off beat and eclectic merchandise. Purchased a zeonmorph that stands sbout 3 feet tall made of reclaimed metals.

The owner is a cool dude and the store is worth a stop in. Great items with good KW vibes.

Some really bad customer service. The guy was an incredible jerk & just flat out rude. Too bad for them because I came in prepared to buy.

A really cool store to check out when in Key West. Fans of mythology will find lots to see.

There's a European air and flair in the place, with items I've never come across in other shops, and I love that! There were lots of scented items, and I love how she had glass cloches over the individual scents, since I am scent-sensitive. I was afraid when I walked in I might not be able to take it, but it wasn't overpowering. There were so many home and gift items in here, I could have easily dropped 10x the amount of money I did If I'd brought a bigger suitcase. From the delicate new and vintage jewelry, to the frameable greeting cards, to high end teas (daily sample available), and cotton frocks sprinkled throughout, I felt like I could have spent two hours in this small shop and still not have seen everything. Yet, it doesn't feel overwhelming, because the merchandising skills utilized here just made it a pleasure to wander this way and that, admiring all the little touches. Honestly, it is an exemplary shop. I'd rank this in the top 5 shops I've ever visited anywhere, and I wander into a LOT of shops! This is a must if you are in Key West. You can get a cocktail anywhere, but these elegant displays and thoughtfully curated products are not to be missed!

Now by living with what has become the new normal, it is commendable on how these businesses and public places continue to remain open and cater to the general public by following the safety standards. It is now all the more important that we as customers, support these heroes during these dark hours to mankind. A gem of a shop in the middle of a busy downtown area of Key West. We were tourists here and randomly got into this store because of an enticing entrance. As we entered, an old lady in one of the counters made a prompt welcoming. They had a wonderful collection of decors, gift items and showpieces ranging in all sizes and budgets. The frog collection was definitely an eye-pulling one and we got ourselves couple of glass made roosters that are symbolic to the Keys (you find them literally everywhere in the Keys, as if they are the National bird of the US). The high price is a bit of a sour point but I guess that's got to do with the demographics of this place and the visiting tourist population.

I've attached a photo of one of the items I purchased this year. They offer a wide variety of interesting jewelry, handbags, home decor and much more at prices that are better than most of the upscale shops in the area. This year I purchased the garden birds in the photo, two masks, a bracelet and some metal wall art. Last year I went big on jewelry for myself and friends and purchased handbags for myself and my granddaughters. You get the idea. Great for gifting, great for KW mementos for you as well.

But if you're gung ho on grabbing a conch in the Conch Republic, this is about as good as far as you're going to find. Prices were not as high as I thought they would be, and they have quite a selection and variety of shells, see stars, shark teeth, and other ocean treasures from around the globe. The cashier was an interesting guy, who tried out some of his stand-up comedy routine on me. Nice kid, but it went a little too long, and I sort of just wanted to get away. Finally did. The store is also connected to adjacent retail places that sell T-shirts, art, stickers, and other assorted bric-a-brac and accoutrement. We picked up a few things next-door and tried to buy them at the shell place, and were simply directed to the other cashier next door. No muss no fuss. We had a small world moment with that cashier, as it seems he was from the same suburb and which Mrs. and I work. Spent a few moments comparing landmarks and stories, smiled our goodbyes, and left the store with assorted dead sea life, a couple of stickers for the camper, and a really cool Guy Harvey T-shirt for me. Whether you're shopping for your beach house, or for your apartment balcony that just needs some kind of sea star wind chime decoration thing... This place has it. Definitely worth the stop for cheap gifts to take back from your trip to Key West.
