Where to begin, people (me included)when talking about PATRON always frown upon it saying it's an…read moreamerican company but in all reality most big tequila companies are foreign own now a days and even if it they are what I saw made me a PATRON ambassador and after working 30 years in the restaurant business this is my #1 suggested tequila , they are doing things the right way from the growing , harvesting, cooking, fermenting, distilling to the protection of the environment in their compost the size of 10 football fields to their plant of reverse water osmosis this is a company I would love to work for . Their hospitality is fantastic from the minute you arrive to the last minute you are there , food is fantastic they have a private chef which makes the food more upscale , I myself prefer spicy street food but that is just me , their mixiologists ( primadonna bartenders ) are real good and don't mind telling you exactly what or how to make any of their mix margarita or creations fantastic !! Their accomodstions are some of the best I have stayed in huge, eve Netflix on tv , beautiful restroom , room service !! They pamper you while they teach you about their craft what a great way to learn ,the best. They took us to their aging room you can not begin to imagine about 300 barrels of amazing tequila in one room and it was 1 of three!!! We got to hear the founder of PATRON nothing but an ordinary man but we all waited in awe to hear words of the creator of such magical amazing place even myself and I am not usually out of words but this HOMBRE deserves all my respect and admiration for such a amazing vision . I have read my review and and I used the word amazing a lot but the PATRON HACIENDA deserves every single one of my praises and still fall short of such of magnificent trip. My only complaint is that they only let you stay for such small period of time.

I edited my review for the Tulum Express Tour by Amigo Tour…read more I reserved the tour through Expedia, but then we experienced trouble confirming it and obtaining our pick-up time (no answer to emails, wrong US phone number on their website)... I finally canceled my tour without fee. Then I was contacted by somebody who nicely offered to rebook me at the Expedia price (44USD vs 75USD) on their advertised "Early Access to Tulum" Tour. It was kind of confusing as the description didn't not completely match the Expedia tour, particularly the pick-up time (7am on Expedia, between 5 and 6am on their website). The pick up was relatively on time (only 15 minutes late), and the drive and visit were very pleasant. The driver Saul and the guide Ursula were very competent and professional. We were back at our hotel before 2pm as advertised.

Our Amigo tour pickup was changed at the last minute with an email notification that we would be…read morepicked up at 4:05 am instead of 4:30 am. We scrambled to get ready and then waited in our hotel lobby until after 5 am. After returning to our room, we received a phone call that Amigo had arrived, it was then almost 5:30 am. The driver laughed when we told him of our 4:05 pickup time, and indicated he was told to pick us up at 5:20 am. When we arrived at Tulum, we were expecting a tour by a trained Archiologist as they had advertised. Instead, we got a 30 minute general overview of the site. I got way more from the Wiki, and I seriously doubt he had any archeology credentials. The site itself was amazing despite the poor servive from Amigo. We had much better luck with a tour of Chichen Itza from Grayline tours a few days previous. To top off the poor service the bus that was taking us back to our hotel was too big for the narrow streets and had to drop us off well before our hotel, leaving us to walk the rest of the way.

This is for a magical evening we had in Mickey's place in CDMX not GDJ. In a beautiful space that…read morewas Mickey's father's butcher shop, we enjoyed an intimate evening of education, tasting very special and unique tequilas and mezcals and amazing food (props to his pal Chef David) as though we were with an old friend. Whether you are a tequila/mezcal scholar or brand new, Mickey weaves history, technique, voluminous knowledge of the world of agave farming, markets spirits production process and stories deftly and authentically, and you will be transported. Our non-drinking teenage daughter also attended and really enjoyed the night. One of the most authentic travel experiences we have ever had in many trips around the world. Do not miss this in CDMX!!!

Until then, everything we asked for was possible (traveling by air conditioned van for the day to multiple tastings for Tequilla aficionados and discovering lots of small, unknown brands). That day, a tour guide who has not heard of any of this shows up in her own compact, no air conditioning car. She knew nothing about what we had been told. It was frustrating- we traveled from the US for this special birthday celebration and what was promised should have been delivered. No amount was deducted from the bill for any of this, Mickey couldn't care less once he had received the fee about anything else. Disappointing.
