I have done yearly work volunteer events here for the last 6 years. I don't mind setting up the…read moreevents here since it's closer to home. Much of the food is donated by local stores or restaurants. They get a ton of stuff into their warehouse. They always go through the daily protocol in the big conference room. You are to wear gloves and a hair cover and beard cover for those with facial hairs. Now you can add a face mask to the attire too. You start the event work around 9am and work until 11am to noon. The warehouse job is the hardest. I have sorted through some rough looking potatoes, to water logged and decrepit looking cucumbers and tomatoes. It makes you really appreciate the foods we can easily pick through at the grocery store to get the most appealing ones. Any sign of mold gets tossed. This is the hardest of the jobs, but also the most rewarding since it's labor intensive too. I have also had the pleasure of assembling sandwiches in the kitchen too, with wheat squares of bread, some meat like slices of pork meat of some sort and cheese too. Volunteering your time and energy is greatly rewarding and so helpful to those in need. This is a great center that gives back ro the community. At the end of your day, they will brief you on how many bags or boxes of food were boxed that day. It's the only day big the original big 3 OEMs groups can collaborate and work together side by side without any intellectual property issues too.

You could have a heart during Covid like everyone else on the planet. You claim to be sensitive to…read moreothers and their trauma but when asking for 2 extra months of grace for a class due to Covid -you do not care ! I feel sick that you have any of my money because you can not be that great when you are fake. You are only in it for the money! People need to go somewhere else to take a genuine class. I had no idea this year would be so tough due to Covid. All I wanted to do was learn so I could help people-- not something you wanted to do. You should be ashamed. The entire planet did a better job than you, and you claim that you have the classes to help victims of trauma...well you added to mine so why should anyone trust you? -- FYI, I plan on writing many other reviews like this because we need to get the word out that any other training in trauma is better than yours- you seem to only want money. I could have praised you and recommend you - I am just glad I learned this before I embarrassed myself by aligning myself with you

Before beginning this review, I would most like to assure you of a few facts. Firstly, I was in…read moreMichigan only for the duration of the summer and was hired through connections via administrative personnel. Furthermore working with youth is a great passion of mine of which I endeavour in doing so, whole heartedly. Now with that being said, I would further assure you that by this review I have no ill or malicious agenda in which to shed any negative light upon the agenda, mission or people of STARR Commonwealth (Sequel Youth Services). -- having worked on campus with the youth most extensively, and in doing so having built some of the most rewarding relationships of which even seasoned or "veteran" staff had not yet acquired themselves with the youth. I must say that if you are searching for a career, or even a little as a temporary position of employment, you must be aware of a few most profound things. First of which is the work in a most general sense, that is to say the direct interactions with the youth; in today's society and within its many statutes for every little thing. Working with youth comes with a vast array of "yellow tape" sort of barriers and warnings, and you must be aware of the necessity of awareness for this specific fact. Because if one so interacts outside these statues or boundaries it can easily lead to allegations, corrections etc. Though to be yet more specific in regard to the youth themselves. They have come from the most horrific and ghastly circumstances one could possibly imagine, and they will often tell you or you will otherwise be told. This is to say that the reason they are present on campus is a direct insight as to the character, or effect on that of which is their demeanor and character. Furthermore this is to say that things can easily become dodgy. You will experience violent outbursts with little or no regard to the safety of others, youth of which demean others or even staff alike, and of course the constant ever so present need for emotional support. Though even in saying this, I tell you, you will have some of the most rewarding days any job of which entails helping youth could possibly provide. The relationships, opportunity and knowing that you have made an impact in their lives is most profound and again most rewarding. However, with all of this said, staffing is a major issue. Take into consideration that you will feel unsafe, overwhelmed and be challenged MUCH of the time. The issue with staffing is a direct result of both poor communication and high turn over rates. Those with "power" or assume that they possess such a position of power yield such influence as a child would with a sword. In a most ignorant, ineffective and often offensive manner. There is a clear separation between positions and the status of which accompanies any such position. Lastly, the reason for my personal perception and a clearer understanding of me as a means to help you or those potentially seeking a career or "job" at Starr Commonwealth; I am 28 years old, an accomplished self starter of whom loves in California and daughter this position because of my love for helping others. I am extremely intellectual, artistic, emotional, and invested person. This is to say that working with the youth impacted me most profoundly. I learned that a group of 6 or 13 youth is a position of which I will never feel comfortable or safe within, but chose to endeavor in regardless in a hope to progress both professionally and personally. I am a playful individual, I enjoy making others laugh, intently listening and helping them with various and cha gong circumstances within their day to day life. However, for me. My lack of ability to handle conflict and confrontation alike are rather non existent. My anxiety within the chaos of which is the noise levels of the group, or perhaps the unstable emotional atmosphere, was far to much and resulted in my levels of anxiety being most intolerable. However, if you are of a more straight edged, "hard" nature. Than perhaps these things would impact you much less profoundly so, though do be aware that an even compromise between the two is most necessary. I have truly enjoyed working with the youth, and the mission of which STARR and Sequel endeavours in together in which is to change the lives of youth, is marvelous, beautiful, and most admirable. I will always support the direction with carefully placed hopes in which is the methods of which they utilise to accomplish this. That is to say communication on campus, turn over rates, training, and atmosphere I hope will progress positively and most effectively in a way to help secure and provide the proper Influence that these youth deserve and require to be successful
