Leon was within the target window, called me ahead of time and answered all my questions and showed me what he was doing. Another vendor said we would have to replace our AC condenser but Leon found out the issue was that the AC was not getting electricity. He located the problem and rewired it properly. I have never actually met Leon, but that's the point. After scheduling an appointment for him to investigate a high pitched noise coming from my furnace, he instead was able to watch a video I sent him of the noise, and he walked me through taking off the cover of the unit and taking photos of the model number. He was able to diagnose the problem over the phone, then he researched the price of the part without even coming over. He was honest that the part was expensive and that it may not be needed for several years, so I had a choice to postpone the work. He wouldn't even let me pay him for his time and work remotely. I can't say enough good things about Leon. He helped me out originally 2 years ago with some AC repairs when I felt I was being ripped off by my previous service company, promptly and for good value. So when my AC unit went out again yesterday, Christmas Day, I texted him, and he got back to me today despite the holidays and came over at 30 minutes notice - even bringing his mother in law as he had just picked her up. I had just had another company come by to review the issue who had told me repairs would be $5,000 and replacement would be $9,000. Leon fixed the problem in 30 minutes for $150. I called AC Cool after calling several other AC companies to help fix a damper issue with an HVAC system that has three zones. Most AC companies don't want to deal with zones and the one that did came out and suggested we replace our entire system (no surprise). However, Leon came out and diligently assessed the situation and realized that the system we have is unique and simply works backwards from the typical system. It required reversing the new damper to remain open when the system is off which is unconventional. Our system is back up and running and all of the zones work perfectly. I just got off the phone with Leon after he walked me through troubleshooting my AC problem. He literally tried to help me figure out why my AC wasn't turning on. First checking my thermostat. Then telling me how to take a piece of wire to try and "jump start" my system. And then finally advising me to check that the cover to my furnace was closed properly or else the system wouldn't turn on...and THAT WAS THE FIX!!! He could have easily told me he had to come out to do a diagnostic and charge me, but Leon was so incredibly generous, kind and patient. I randomly found this guy on the web. Made a call around 6pm on a Monday and he was able to come out the very next day at 2pm on Tuesday. I had just had a 2 ton slip AC system installed and it wasn't working properly so I had him come out to take a look. The service call fee was VERY fair and he came and adjusted some valves to make it work properly. Spent about 20-30 minutes of his time here and only charged for the service call. I did not have work done by AC Cool but I'd like to comment on their customer service. I called and was immidiately told to send photos of the ac unit to ensure it was a job they could do (I live in a high rise and apparently ac work at times required plumbing knowledge). I spoke to the engineer of our building and unfortunately it did require plumbing knowledge. AC cool was unable to help but I really appreciated how courteous and straight forward he was. Last thing you need when looking for a repair man is one who is going to come out and charge you without being able to help. Certainly give these guys a shot. Leon was able to help with a nightmare of a repair job on an older model air conditioning system in my apartment. Despite numerous setbacks, and having to come out many more times than anticipated, he was still able to complete the job on budget and everything has been working great since! The motor went out on a 2-part central AC unit. Unfortunately they do not make motors for it anymore. So one had to be modified to work. Quite a significant amount of additional labor and time than anticipated yet still came in on budget. HIGHLY recommended. Of course he could have just said the repair wasn't possible and sold a whole new unit with installation and made a lot more money with less headache. The condenser motor in my refrigerator was fried and I called around for estimates. Leon responded right away and gave me a very fair quote, including an option to save money by getting an aftermarket motor. I went for that option. He showed up a little later than expected but got right to work and installed the new motor in 20 min. or so. In addition, he answered all the questions I had about what had gone wrong and what things to look for in the future to keep my fridge operating well. I found AC Cool and its founder Leon through word of mouth 2 years back. When I saw the service company biz was on yelp, I knew I had to add to his praises. His first amazing feat for us was finding and installing our umpteenth replacement thermostat that actually worked with our aging heating system. -- after over two dozen tries over as many years, he solved the puzzle. About a year later, he diagnosed and fixed an aging washing machine and dryer while also fixing a condensation problem with our AC.that no one else had solved since its installation. This summer when our AC unit died after 30 years he had the most difficult job yet -- replacing an entire roof unit with a crane and finding its hard-to-get coolant, while navigating the WeHo City permit maze. Not only did he do incredible work during incredible heat, he saved us big bucks again, just as he did on the prior two occasions. This review is overdue, several years ago the AC quit working during some very hot weather. Leon arrived and said it was the thermostat & replaced it. He was honest and fast. It happened again that the AC quit during very hot weather last week. This time it was a motor that needed to be replaced and had to be ordered. Leon was recommended to me by a friend of mine. He arrived on time and went right to work. He was able to fix my AC unit in less than 20 minutes. I then told him that I was having trouble with my gas fireplace and dishwasher as well and asked if he could fix them. He said he could. He looked at both and told me that the dishwasher could be repaired but that it would be more cost effective if I purchased a new one. He was able to fix my fireplace, and it works like new. What a great company! The technician , Leon, was right on time and extremely pleasant. He identified the problem immediately and took a look at my FILTHY a/c filter and explained that it was the reason the board shorted out. Our AC unit had been running fantastic thanks to some earlier repairs but unfortunately our Heater Vent Motor decided to stop working making the heat inoperable. All this of course happened during a 40 degree weather week. I called the trusty repair guy Leon (who helped with our earlier AC woes) with the bad news and started fearing the worst ( a huge repair bill $$). So he changed the broken part even that would keep it running so we could have air conditioning while he ordered another part. The unit is only three years old and I told them that. They said parts were only under warranty one year. Told me it would cost 800 to 900. In comes Leon. Came same day I called. Checked things out and said motherboard needed to be replaced as well. Took down my serial number and called the company. He found out still under warranty.
