The original building is almost 100 years old & the property is in definite need of improvement. But, that's actually the charm. Also, as a Buddhist interfaith organization, the cost is affordable, as most of the operations rely on Dana (generosity in Pali - the language of the Buddha). The idea is that the teachings are accessible to all. So don't let money be a deterrent from visiting. Each room has its own bathroom, so there's no need to share, which is unusual for a Buddhist meditation retreat center. They also provide all towels & sheets. You will need to bring your own toiletries. Also, I loved the "meditation pool" (the original swimming pool has been filled in) and took in the sun from one of the reclining chairs. They are also putting in an infrared sauna. And, you can walk down to the lake from their property in 2 minutes. Finally, be sure to attend a talk by the Venerable Pannavati. Each Sunday at 12 noon, there is a public talk. She's inspiring, kind and welcoming. I'll definitely be back!

First, he started finding specific in properties that met our needs (which was highly important for the distance of our move), then started actually going to and showing us properties from a video call (we were in TX at the time), and eventually helped us find the perfect home for us by doing so. Next, he helped me with pricing in an offer that lined up well with our budget and the value of the home, and then when inspections were done started guiding us in where to push for concessions, etc. At this point this is already a 5-star experience, but it doesn't stop there. I mention to Alan my plans for financing the house, and he points me at a local lender that will have literally saved me tens of thousands of dollars over the life of the loan, and then, fast forward to closing day (when we finally arrived here), and he gets a couple minor things resolved well beyond our expectations (saving us another few hundred dollars). I'd say that I'd use his services again, and if I'm ever moving again I definitely will, but he did such a great job that I'll probably never need a realtor again. On my last visit, I was staying at the hotel, so I didn't drive there, so I had to limit my purchases to be able to get them back to the hotel. I was hoping to go back on checkout day, but they had me exit the other way. Besides the 9000 ft gallery, there is a sculpture garden outside (those are for sale too). I love looking at the variety of art. Some pieces I really loved were more than I could afford but I can still appreciate them. Glass and metal are the art styles that appeal to me at the moment. The metal grabbed my attention here a few years ago as it was different, and reusing the metal while transforming it into something new. I still have my large metal frog. Now I have a lot of metal art. I will need to get some pictures of the latest pieces. I still wish I had gotten the giraffe, too, but transporting was going to be a problem. I did get a photo of it. So maybe it will be there when I go back or something else will grab my eye. I will get some photos of my treasures from here. The customer service is top-notch here and they carefully wrap everything.
