I knew when I got engaged that I wanted to hire somebody b/c working full time and being really…read morebusy I knew I didn't have the time to plan a wedding....let alone my own wedding! :) I am an accountant and really into the details but when it comes to outside of work I like to relax and not have to deal with anything particularly stressful. It was definitely a provision and huge blessing to get to hire Jennifer as my planner. My (now) husband and I knew we wanted a short engagement and we ended up picking a date about 4 months after our engagement! So we planned on a ceremony and afternoon snack reception at the church we attend. We had about 160 people show up (including some little ones) and Jennifer did a FANTASTIC job. (1.) She kept us updated through email and texts and face to face meetings regularly (i.e. weekly to bi-weekly) about what was going on and what needed to be done by whom and when (2.) She started out by asking what our expectations were and what we envisioned / what was important to us. From there, she helped us figure out what we could do and what we could not do based off of our budget. At our first meeting, she had already researched a few places and florists based off of our budget! (3.) She took care of all of the details - the church we were married at required us to work with their wedding coordinator so I let Jennifer handle all the logistics of working with the church coordinator for our wedding. I didn't have to deal with refrigeration, working with the sound guy for the reception, etc etc (4.) She did a few extra things like have a beautiful basket ready for us for our wedding night. She made sure to not put anything that we wouldn't normally use (for example, my husband and I are not big wine drinkers). So it felt like a thoughtful gift/touch and not just something thrown together. (5.) She knew that my husband and I wanted to save as much as possible so she was on top of doing research regarding things like cutlery to buy (and where), using Instacart to deliver for free, etc. (6.) She was incredibly detailed when it came to what needed to be done and when. For example, for the grand exit, she was detailed enough to know to place certain people where for pictures and who should hold what (also for pictures). (7.) During the Rehearsal Dinner and Ceremony and Reception she was always busy taking care of everything (i.e. the food was replenished, drinks were refilled, etc) so that way things went off without a hitch and unnoticed (8.) She created a Kids Corner for the reception! It was such a wonderful idea and one of my friends who has two little ones (the oldest in elementary school) said that she had such a hard time pulling her youngest girl away from the Kids Corner! I didn't even think about anything like this and thought it was such a genius idea. :) (9.) Overall, given how busy I am and how much I dislike planning, I felt incredibly NOT stressed having Jennifer as my planner. I basically just did whatever she asked us to do (and it pretty much was just having to make decisions ) and didn't even worry throughout the whole planning process. The ONLY time I worried was when I thought my dress wasn't going to make it on time but that was through a completely different vendor - Jennifer was amazing though and offered to help should I have needed it (i.e. by finding a wrap to go over the back up dress, etc). Thankfully, there was no need for that! For any bride to be's out there who are looking for a planner who they can trust and who takes her job incredibly seriously and REALLY knows the details, I highly, highly, highly recommend Jennifer. She did such a fantastic job! She has been doing this for 10 years and it really shows. :)

My daughter got engaged this past spring, and, although she and I have done quite a bit of…read moreentertaining and hospitality, I knew that a wedding planner was not optional, if we were going to enjoy the wedding. The engagement was 4-1/2 months long, and we invited over 400 people to the wedding, so it was not a small wedding, and obviously there was lots to do in a fairly short amount of time. Additionally, my daughter lives in Seattle, and would only be home for a couple of very brief visits, so that was also a challenge. Although I knew that we needed help with the wedding, I was not hopeful that we could find a wedding planner to whom I would be comfortable relinquishing responsibility and control, but, boy, was I wrong! We were referred to Chelsea, the owner of Everything But the Ring (EBTR), by the Carol Perrard, event coordinator at our reception venue (The Westin at Memorial City). I had told Carol that I wanted to find someone who was not only a great wedding planner, but that was not a snob and would absolutely not add drama to our event. EBTR was arguably the best and most important recommendation we got from anyone to ensure that our wedding was everything we dreamed it would be - and it was! Chelsea is amazing to work with - very professional, punctual, communicated frequently, very accessible, so pleasant, flexible, helpful, forward-thinking; she understood what our vision was, and was fabulous at implementing it. Her experience and judgment were invaluable and contributed immeasurably to the success of the wedding. Since my daughter and I are very organized, we knew there were parts of the wedding that we would like to handle ourselves. At the same time, there were also parts of the wedding that we knew we didn't want to handle at all, and then lots of items in between. Chelsea customized a wedding package for us in which she was up-to-speed on the big picture and the details, but was okay with letting us handle those things we like doing. She kept everything on track, thought of everything, no matter how tiny a detail, and was great about updating the to-do lists and reminding us of upcoming timeline deadlines. Additionally, she negotiated better rates with vendors than I was able to get myself, and reviewed all our vendor quotes and contracts with those vendors I was working with directly, and identified costs that could be reduced or seemed out of line, which information I used to go back to the vendors and get a better quote (my florist and decor company, for example). There were other vendors she dealt with without my involvement at all, except to approve their bids, and everything she arranged was top-notch and reasonably priced. I knew from my very first meeting with Chelsea that she was the right person for us, and that feeling was reconfirmed over and over, but never more than the week of the wedding itself. We had our last sit-down meeting with Chelsea and Carol at the reception venue one week before the wedding, and I was BLOWN AWAY by the details that the two of them together had figured out, and, wow, what a blessing that the two of them worked so beautifully together. They thought of the tiniest little details and logistics that made my daughter and I know that we could just enjoy the wedding week. We were in such good hands!!! Chelsea came by our house a number of times the week of the wedding, transported to the reception venue, to the church, to the rehearsal dinner, etc etc etc. I can honestly say there was not one moment the week of the wedding when I felt anxious or worried, in large part because of the decision we made to hire Chelsea at EBTR. I recommend her and her company unreservedly. Several of the guests at our wedding have contacted Chelsea regarding their own weddings. I could right away tell how passionate and hard-working she was so I definitely wanted to meet with her to see if I wanted her to be our wedding planner. Originally, we did not feel we did not need a planner but our first meeting with Chelsea sold us to her services. At our first meeting, she presented us with a folder detailing her services as well as a binder of a wedding that showed us how seriously she takes her job and how organized she is. She is the best decision we made in regards to our wedding planning. Without her, we would not have had all the amazing vendors we got. She helped us get in contact with them and handled all communication with them. We were even able to get a better rate because of her connections. It made the entire process so easy for us so that we could focus on the other things. Her advice was also invaluable. Whenever we would vacillate on something, she would explain the pros and cons but would never push us to a decision. She would always patiently let us decide because she truly was our advocate and helped us put together the wedding we wanted. Her advice was not limited on just the planning and was willing to listen to any problems we had. Especially since she has been in the same shoes, it was nice to have someone that could empathize with everything that I was going through. The big day was where she really shined. She took care of everything so that everyone could enjoy the day which was very important to us because we wanted all our friends and family to enjoy every minute of it, especially since the whole event is only so long. DO NOT BOOK HERE IF YOU EXPECT GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!! They will get you in with a promise of all this help and then assign you a planner who doesn't answer for weeks!!!! Then you'll complain and they'll pretend to care again, get you a new planner who also doesn't respond for weeks!!!!! Then when you complain, they tell you to be professional. The staff here SUCKS. Only book if you're fluent in planning weddings or plan to use an outside planner. The venue is beautiful but WORST SERVICE EVER!!! And at about $30K!!!!!! DO NOT USE THIS PLACE. We never felt welcomed, and I will never forget walking in less than a week before my wedding (because my wedding planner changed a week before) and being scanned up and down by my old wedding planner and the management as I said hi and smiled to them, and didn't get a single response or smile in return as a walked by with my new wedding planner who was provided by Ashton Gardens. It is now November, and they still struggle with communication of whether a clothes steamer was left there. It's been over a month since I have reached out, I have reached out three times to a personal number and no response. Just about sums up the communication with said wedding planner for 14 months. The day of was a disaster and yelp would not let me type everything out because it was 'too negative'... when it was the order of events and how many things went wrong. Don't recommend. Wish I could turn back the clock:,)
