Jordan about a week after my car accident, and even in that first meeting he was extremely knowledgeable, courteous, and patient with my questions.

Dr. Khemlani met me for my first appointment, accommodating a scheduling conflict to make sure I was seen in a timely fashion. Dr. Kehmlani went to bat for me with my insurance to ensure I got an approved prior authorization. He truly had to go the extra mile. Further, the next day I was seen for the actual procedure. I was honestly terrified. He took the time to stop and speak calmly with me, reassuring me all would be fine. He took time. He showed compassion. He was above-and-beyond professional... but more importantly, he was kind. Providers like Dr. Khemlani are FEW are FAR BETWEEN. Providers that truly express empathy and grace are a rare find any more and I'm quite lucky to have been referred to him. Even better, he has a ridiculously good sense of humor and made the rather unpleasant procedure 100% tolerable... painless one would say. I can't speak highly enough of Columbia Pain Management and Dr. Khemlani. He and his staff were all spectacular and I appreciate everyone for their great care. I can honestly say, I am looking forward to returning for my follow-up appointments. Thanks, Dr. Khemlani. You're the best!

I arrived on time, and they asked me to resubmit paperwork that I had already completed online. This took about 10 minutes. I sat for another 10 minutes, and asked why I wasn't being seen. The receptionist informed me that they ask people to arrive 30 minutes early to fill out paperwork, which I was never made aware of, AND even I were, I don't know why they would ask a person to come in 30 minutes early who had already completed their paperwork online ? It's very disrespectful of their patients time. I considered rescheduling to their Hillsboro office because it was going to impact other appointments I had that day, but they wouldn't have been able to get me in for quite some time which was not an option for me given my level of pain. At one point, I was quite literally, verbally attacked by a medical assistant for questioning why I was asked to come in so early, asking about rescheduling, etc. The only reason I didn't leave is that I waited for this appointment for so long, I'm in excruciating, chronic pain, and rescheduling would have pushed out my ability to be treated. Nurse practitioner was thankfully very professional, which I hope is more indicative of how Dr. Stephenson will administer my initial treatment. However, I will never set foot in the Happy Valley office again, and I will be actively searching for another solution longer term.

I originally went to this clinic to try to get a nerve block in order to see if a longer term ablation would be an option for my spine pain, and was instead pressured into having a steroid injection in my spine. As they offered zero other solutions I reluctantly agreed. On the day of the procedure, after knowing me for barely 7 minutes and refusing to meet with me the week prior to discuss my history of PTSD with medical procedures, Dr. Hatheway decided he did not want to do the procedure because he was afraid to work with a person who has PTSD with medical triggers and called off the procedure after I had already started the anesthesia protocol. He refused to provide a clear explanation or even let me finish a sentence before walking out of the room and slamming the door on me while I scrambled for my shoes and glasses, and essentially had me thrown out, having issued his pronouncement. If I'd been allowed to meet with him BEFORE the procedure as I asked at least 3 times, I would known in advance that he is not willing to work with women with PTSD, that he is arrogant, and that I wanted him nowhere near my body in a vulnerable state. I also would not have gotten my hopes up for a solution to life-destroying pain, my husband I would not have lost several hundred dollars in wages (neither of us gets paid leave) and I would not have had yet another traumatizing experience in the hands of a male physician who can't even be bothered to meet his patients before the procedure and does not make women feel safe in his care, especially previously traumatized ones. From the second that I met him he oozed arrogance and seemed to have zero regard for my needs or wellbeing. Go to this clinic if you enjoy being pressured into treatment you don't want, like doctors with the bedside manner of a sledgehammer, and want to be drugged heavily, then in that vulnerable state gaslit, and told to leave without receiving any real medical care or any explanation for this absolutely off-the-wall behavior. I am frustrated by the fact that I received no real medical care, but also horrified how close I came to letting these hacks stick needles in my spine. Read the other reviews, especially on Yelp, and you'll see that many who did go through with it have regretted it and left far sicker than they went in. Horrible clinic, horrible doctor, horrible experience. Stay away if you value your safety and your health.

Rude, gaslighting, unethical, malpractice and insurance fraud come to mind. If you are hoping to even speak to the doctor performing your procedure, I can assure you that won't happen. If you are assuming you will be treated like a patient in pain and in need of medical care, that won't happen either. Dr Hatheway and support staff need to find a different line of work and should NEVER be allowed to interact or treat ANYBODY. EVER.

Not silly stuff, but things pertaining to why I am there or other services they may offer. If they take the time to explain things in a manner that I can understand, well done. If they fail to do so, act like I'm an idiot and won't understand, or brush them off I won't go back. Making a point of this as Dr. Bespaly always does a really great job. He gave a very thorough explanation about nerve ablation on my last visit. I have been to his clinic 3 times for ketamine infusions. Anyone curious about this treatment I highly encourage to do some research online first. They do work well for me personally, but there is one caveat... The cost is high and currently no insurance will cover them. Most doctors will repeatedly feed you antidepressants until one works, for some folks they just will not work and have terrible side effects. The worst part is SSRIs take weeks if not months to get results, if they even will work that is. Ketamine there is no waiting, it works by the following day. So... if you compare the quick results of ketamine to the months or years of frustration and lack of quality of life trying different pills, I think it's worth it. The experience itself can be a bit weird or intense. It felt like I was continually falling or sinking (was laying in a recliner), and my mind was swirling with thoughts. The thoughts were mostly what had been bothering me, but in a new positive light so to speak. I found it to be relaxing, but I could imagine it might be a bit frightening to some. I suggest bringing some chill music/headphones and preparing a playlist in advance. You will need a ride home. One infusion will have lasting positive effects for a few months, again this is for me personally. Getting a bit long winded here but wanted to share my own subjective opinion and experience. Kudos to Dr. Bespaly and his team.
