We purchased a custom made gate from Accion about six years ago. We loved the gate and have been happy with it. The gate was starting to show some wear and a few small rust spots on the mesh screen, so I asked them to repaint for me. After a few scheduling issues, they were able to pick up the gate. I have combined two experiences with this company over a 5 month period. I don't write reviews often, but this has been a dissappointing and costly experience. In May 2015 my husband and I hired Accion to install a two door gate to access our backyard. We were originally happy and therefor referred many people to this company. Only 5 months later, in November 2015 we hired them to move that gate forward to line up with the front of our house, which included installing 33 feet of block wall, (the block wall came out good; it's straight, level and sturdy). On the original installation in May Accion layed a cement strip under the gate, which is common practice. This is used to bolt down two metal posts on each side of the gate doors, and a hole is drilled into the cement to drop down a steel rod that locks the gate doors in place in the middle. Accion dug up and discarded the original cement strip, but didn't install a new one in the new location. Because of this, the locking rod in the middle sat useless attached to the gate. This permitted someone to push the gate open, drive into our yard and steel $700 worth of remodeling supplies. Accion's policy is to pay half up front, and the remainder upon completion. Accion called us prior to the job being done and asked for the remainder, which we gladly paid, not expecting problems. When the job was done, we called Accion asking them to install the cement strip, but they wanted us to pay $400 more, which should have been included in the original amount we paid them. We expected the entire project to be exactly as they installed it prevously in May, just moved forward 33 feet. Because of this, we incurred the cost of having the cement strip installed by someone else. In addition. ... 2) When Accion moved the gate, they welded the hinges, but never painted over their welding. 3) Only 5 months old, there are several spots where the paint is already rusting and chipping which we have been told indicates they didn't prime it before painting it 4) The deadbolt lock on the handle that Accion installed hasn't locked properly from the first installation in May, which will cost us more to replace that as well. My husband and I first met the owner at the Orange County Swap Meet. It is a family owned business so his son came out and we told him we wanted two locking decorative gates put on both sides of our backyard to keep our dogs from getting out. They came back a second time for the exact measurements and then installed two beautiful iron gates (Pic 1). So after we sold and bought another home, their daughter Sandy came out and measured and gave us an estimate for a front double door enclosure and a side gate. Again they came out and did the final measurements and then installed and the finished product is absolutely beautiful and carries the grape theme in both gates (Pics 2-4). Update: they finally came out and fixed my fence. Said it was done incorrectly originally (their work). But I'm happy they corrected it and it looks beautiful! They just can't get it right. Someone came out quickly to give me a quote and I decided within a few days to go with them. The day they were supposed to come at about 2pm to measure a few WEEKS, they didn't show up until 9pm. That should have been my first clue. So they measured in the dark. Surprise surprise, they got it wrong. The day of install (MONTHS later and with no notice that they were actually coming to install and I'd need the balance of the $5k), they couldn't finish because their measurements were incorrect. Um...ok. They fixed it about a week later. A few weeks go by and the paint on the wood begins to bubble. Takes a few phone calls with no response for them to finally send someone out (no appointment, just finally answers my call and told me I was on the schedule for the next day). Um... ok. They "fixed the paint." Now, a few short months later, I'm having more paint issues - the paint is chipping between the wood planks - it's looking pretty ugly. 3 phone calls later - no response or call back. So I need to now hire a different company to fix their work and will be taking them to small claims court to collect if they don't pay the bill. Um... NOT ok. read more

Sadly i can't leave a good review for these guys. They built a couple fences in my neighborhood that i love, so i got recommended them from everyone who lives around me. I called and set up an appointment. No problem They came out, discussed what i wanted and even drew up a little sketch. I was told the girl who does quotes is out of the office till the next week. Accion is one of the best contractors I have ever hired in the 51 years I have lived in my house. I interviewed and got quotes from five different wrought iron contractors to install a custom fence and gate. Each one was recommended by a neighbor. Accion's was among the lowest, but the outstanding thing that caused me to select Accion was the sales lady. She was very knowledgeable about all aspects of wrought iron fences, extremely helpful in selecting important details, no pressure, patient, etc. When I placed our order she was careful to understand and clearly write and draw every specification so there would be no errors or misunderstandings. It was disappointing to hear that it would take a long time, two months, to make and install our fence. That's because their reputation is so good they had a big back-log of orders. But the results were worth the wait. Following are some additional good things I appreciated about Accion: 1. Fence was installed in one day when on the day they promised two months earlier. 2. Fence was exactly what we wanted and ordered 3. Several months later when two small problems developed they fixed them promptly, expertly, and at no charge. 4. I have had this company make a wrought iron fence for our pool to keep our small children out. They were able to make it fast and installed it fast knowing we had just bought our house with no fence and had young children. That was 20 years ago. Very disappointed in their responsiveness. At first very responsive. Ordered ornamental gate on 5-30, gave deposit and told 6 to 8 weeks. Had to call several times to get representative to respond and here it is 14 weeks from order date, 6 weeks beyond outside estimated delivery date, and they haven't even started on it. read more

We hired Accion after seeing them at the OC Fairgrounds Swap Meet. We needed new gates on both sides of our house as we were putting a pool in the backyard and there are specific laws that your gates need to follow. I must say that we were not necessarily the easiest client to deal with. Our pool company kept giving us the wrong dates to have Accion install the gates. So not only did they fastrak our job to have the gates ready on the date we THOUGHT they could go in, and then have to hold up on the install, they arranged to come on a sunday to get the gates in before our Monday morning inspection. I will be the first to admit that my needs were very simple, have a wrought iron gate installed on one side of the house. The opening is about 50" wide and it was ready for a gate - as I had removed the old wooden gate and a small, really useless little wall. A person came out, measured and then we discussed finishes, styles of gates, whether or not there should me a steel mesh, or just open wrought iron, and handles and locks. The whole process from initial visit to installation took about 10 weeks - considering the gate and attachment pieces are hand made (with a holiday thrown in) the time table was fine with me. It is not a quick process, so allow time to have it done. read more

I hired Accion to repair and/or replace decorative metal hand railing that was "abused" by outgoing tenants). It was unfortunate for Accion as their outstanding repair job negated the need to replace the entire hand railing. I truly hope I never have to call any company to make repairs to my rental property; however if I do I will be calling Accion. read more
