Initially purchased my hearing aids here at Oaklawn facility 5 years ago from John Goik. Today I visited unannounced. Was greeted by a very knowledgeable "Jacob", who was very patient regarding my concern of if my aids needed servicing or replacement. Jacob cleaned them, raised the volume a bit and even showed me how to raise or lower the volume. He scheduled me for an updated audio test. My 93-year-old mother brought her malfunctioning hearing aid here to be fixed. The woman at the store told her that it would be $500.00 to repair the "electronics" of the device. My mother took the hearing aid elsewhere for a second opinion. Store #2 took the device into the back room, took it apart, found that it was dirty, cleaned it and charged her $35.00. It is now working perfectly. Stay clear of Accuquest; my mother could have easily been scammed. Maybe someone can explain to the people at Accuquest that "elderly" does not automatically mean "stupid." read more

Well it looks like the luster did not last long. My mother's hearing aid was sent for repairs and the outfit would not provide a written estimate, nor would they provide her with a document that outlined what exactly the warranty covered, in addition to several other administrative issues that should be in writing. It's really sad that these types of organizations have a monopoly on the market and are allowed to do as they see fit. Remedy, no more visits. read more

My 92 year old mom visited John Goik. She liked him, but decided to check around. She came back and John was gone. Replaced by a Jacob, who's card said he was a "hearing instrument dispenser " not an audiologist. My mom thought he was a salesman. She wanted / paid for new aids, but after two different molds and a month or so she requested a refund. Refund was quickly given and we went on our way. Can't say they were good or bad, but the "dispenser" makes a big difference. read more

I was tired of not being able to hear people and asking them to repeat themselves and I still needed to look at them to "see"/hear. I looked up a few places and the high recommendation of John Goik and reputation pretty much confirmed my choice. I stopped in to visit and inquire some more...and he was able to talk to me about it. He (and his receptionist) are very professional, courteous, informative, patient...excellent customer service. Professionally superb. John was thorough, explanatory in terms that I understood and laid out what I could/could not expect; pricing alternatives; choice in equipment; financial assistant; the whole kit and kaboodle. VERY THOROUGH in all regards. I learned a lot and in the meantime I was given the wonderful gift to hear again. I'm a customer service representative, so career wise - hearing is very important. I value what people have to say both at work and personally. So it's a pure joy to hear them without asking them to repeat themselves frequently...I know some would get frustrated with my request as it was becoming more frequent.
