I really thought she was very thoughtful and thorough. She reassured me of a benign condition. I will continue to see her!

He was local and received good reviews so decided to try him. He examined me and told me my left nostril was severely deviated and he recommended surgery. Not wanting surgery, I elected to try meds and spray which didn't do much. I had my annual physical with my doctor this Feb and while we were wrapping up, I told him I was considering septoplasty surgery however wanted to do a sleep study first. My Dr. looked into my left nostril and right away told me to get the septoplasty done asap. I met with Dr. Bliz again to schedule surgery. He told me he does surgery out of Metro South in Blue Island. I was really hoping it'd be at Palos Hospital or Silver Cross in New Lenox, but whatever. My surgery was the second week of March. First of all, I was all wrong on Metro South. The place was nice and clean and the nursing staff were super friendly. So that was awesome. Next, recovery. It sucked, period. One piece of advice, DO NOT bend over to pick up anything after septoplasty. If you do, blood will gush out of your nose. Yes, that happened to me just a few hours after surgery and my wife had to rush me to Bliz' office. Well, he stopped the bleeding and I went home that weekend and just laid on the couch, changing bandages every few hours. Dr. Bliz gave me his cell number and told me to text (I could barely talk) or have my wife call if we had any questions over the weekend. I texted him a few times with questions and concerns and he replied right away which I appreciated. After a few days I went back to him as he pulled out the crap in my nose and I was finally able to breath through my nose for the first time all weekend, however, my left nostril was still clogged. He told me that it would take 2-3 weeks before the swelling went down before I'd notice I can finally breath through my left nostril. Right around week 3, it happened. I could FINALLY breath through my left nostril. Dr. Bliz did what he said he'd do, fix my nose. Not only did he do a great job but he's super cool and friendly too, which matters to most civilized people. I will refer anyone I know who is looking for an Ears/Nose/Throat doctor to Dr. Bliz. He now has a patient for life with me, my family and my friends.

Like so many of his patients, I discovered him while looking into tonsillectomy procedures. He has done tonsillectomies just about every way possible and has made reducing pain and recovery time his priority. It's also important to note that he's in no rush to cut like so many other ENT's who crank through as many procedures as possible. If he does not see evidence of chronic tonsillitis, he won't do the procedure. We almost had to talk him into it since the infection was low by the time we saw him. Recovery was fast and only required low doses of ibuprofen for the pain. Given the horror stories out there among adults undergoing tonsillectomies this was an outstanding result! I have already recommended more than one person to his care. Highly recommended.

You see,…read moreabout a year ago, I went to Northwestern Hospital and the Ear, Nose, and Throat Dr. confirmed I had chronic tonsil infections and that I would qualify for tonsil removal surgery. However, the ENT Dr. also said that a tonsillectomy is rated as one of the most painful surgeries and recoveries of all, as painful as open-heart surgery. Whether true or not, it scared me from having the surgery that I needed to have happen done. I just ignored my problem due to being scared of a painful surgery and recovery. Alas, Dr. Amenta to the rescue!!! I Googled "less painful tonsillectomy" and his name came up. Dr. Amenta uses a less invasive new technology called tissue welding. I had a consult with him, and was immediately put at ease by his intelligent and kind presence, and had the surgery a week later. Within 10 days, I was able to go back to work and within 14, was basically fully-recovered and feeling wonderful. Dr. Amenta, located in the south suburbs, is 100% worth the visit and drive from Chicago. Please do yourself a favor and if you are in need of a tonsillectomy, please see Dr. Amenta. With the technology he uses, you will be in less pain. Also, his skill, knowledge and bedside manner is truly respectable and responsible. Tip: Days 5, 6, and 7 (of all tonsillectomies) are tough. If you accidentally tear a scab off (by letting it dry out or eating a rough food), it will hurt. I found that peppermint tea and alcohol-free Biotene mouthwash helped sooth my throat a bit.

He performed nasal surgery several weeks ago and I can actually breathe for the 1st time in years. I followed his instructions and came through with flying colors. Dr Ung is friendly and has a wonderful sense of humor(bedside manor). He answered all my questions and made me feel completely at ease. His evaluations regarding my nasal issues were 100% accurate and I wholeheartedly recommend him! Exams- I have very narrow nasal and sinus passages and always need to be scoped. Dr Ung is the best and it's quite comfortable. Dr. Ung's staff are efficient, friendly and empathetic. My husband sees Dr Ung as well ( he sings in a band) and Dr Ung has helped my husband's voice immensely. Thank you Dr Ung. (this said with tears in my eyes)
