My dad hunted with metal detectors ever since the early 1960's. One place he took me was to Mr. Wray's. Watching two of them swap stories and discuss detectors and hunting was such an interesting and fun time for me. My dad, Jim Wilson, also was known as Gilbert Wilson, who sold metal detectors as well, and watching them together was a real treat. Dad was always talking about his friend Wray. I went with my dad to one of Wray's treasure hunts, and I must say I had so much fun that weekend. Anyway, I just wanted to say that Mr.Wray and my Dad were really fun to listen to and had more knowledge about treasure hunting and detectors than anyone I've ever known. So if you are looking for stories, knowledge, equipment, kinship, or just a great day, visit Wrays' Treasure Shop. You can't go wrong. In my opinion, Mr. Wray and my Dad are two valuable treasures in their own right. One thing I was always told is to respect the property you are hunting on and ALWAYS, ALWAYS, COVER THE HOLES YOU DIG. Picnic table outside, works great for our family. We were basically in the cabin to sleep. Bring bikes, kayaks, air mattress, coolers, bedding..... Shower houses and restrooms are decent but can be a walk from your cabin, depending on where you're located. This cabin is the "Persimmon" cabin. We like seclusion, so it worked perfectly for us!

This is a nice park. I do not think it gets many visitors due to its location. It is right off of a…read morebusy street. The park spans 127 acres and was previously owned by Cosco Products company, which hoped to create an employee recreational area, but it was never fully developed. The county received the property from the Cosco in 2007. The park's name, ECO, is an acronym derived from Employees of Cosco (ECO). The work "Lake" was added to the name to highlight the lake. The park runs along ECO Lake and has an ample amount of parking available. You will find a nice public boat launch that feeds right into the lake. There are also picnic tables and benches positioned in locations around the lake's perimeter. They provide very scenic views. The park has a sand volleyball court and a basketball court right next to each other. They are in fair to good shape. This park features a lot of green space, a moderate amount of shade, a picnic shelter with picnic tables under it, and a playground area. The playground area is not the most modern, but it is decent. It has a medium sized metal play structure with a bunch of slides, a net climber, and monkey bars. The playground also has a bank of traditional swings, monkey bars, and pull up bars. This is a very nice, low key park with lots of open pace. There is a gravel road that leads to the back of the park. That road will take you to camp sites and only registered campers are authorized to go past the gate. I like this park, but think it is just in a bad location. It could use a little bit of an upgrade such as a new shelter because the current one is in bad repair and maybe a restroom facility. They current have a port a potty there, that is located by the shelter and playground area. Definitely a nice place to visit and get access to the lake. Worth a visit if you are in the area.

"Look with your eyes, not your fingers" fell on deaf ears, but the joy on their faces made me relent on my instructions for my kids. Like mentioned in my previous review, McWhiggin's has a bit of every toy you would like to find, with some circus-themed signage, oversized stuffed animals and other fun sprinkled throughout. Now, be warned that the prices are a bit on the higher end. The small dragon stuffie my daughter picked out was $10. But this is a locally-owned shop -- well worth the extra expense. There is a baseball field, basketball courts, and tennis courts. There are two playgrounds and more equipment scattered about the park. A winding creek runs through the park and there are bridges to cross safely without getting wet. Even in the winter, the park seemed to be well maintained and clean. A definite asset for Scottsburg!
