ACE is a great place with great staffing at least that is what we have experienced for the last 3 years doing business with them. We are a shop that gives the customers the option to go with used parts because we know how difficult life can be financially and not be able to afford brand new parts. We give customers the option to bring their own used part or we supply the used part. Not many shops like to deal with used parts due to there being times where the used parts turning out to be faulty, and it has happened before we have called and told the customer service there the tests we ran on the part to conclude that in fact it was faulty and it is understandable, the part is used and not new. However, the reason i am leaving the review is due to the customer service from Ms. Kari who is fairly new there. A person that has " 20 years of experience in the automotive industry" who can't tell the difference between a resonator and a flex pipe??? a person who has given me a core (a returned part that is faulty) starter instead of the used starter that I paid for, made my driver go back and get the part exchanged with the correct one and as we asked to speak to the manager she did not let us and instead discounted the part herself for that mistake. A person that doesn't know the understanding of an A/C compressor system and what it takes to have it function. She has sold me the wrong tire sizes as well as set of tires with no tread left on them and didn't even bother to check the tread on them before trying to sell them to me. I guess the "20 years of experience" didn't teach her how to visually see what a low tire tread looks like. This lady has some of the worst customer service when it comes to automotive and how she is as a person. I feel like whenever we go to the store she is always arguing with her coworkers who I know for a fact know about cars and have been there longer. The list goes on ... Everyone there is great, at least the people who actually know a thing or two about cars. Sad to say i won't be purchasing anymore parts from this awesome place until they get rid of individuals that have no idea where they stand in the automotive industry. read more

Rob is one of the greatest man and very honest person to me. After he came across my review, he made a comment and asked me to call him. We spoke on the phone and everything thing was solved in a positive manner. I was frustrated, but he make me well. My teenaged daughter brought her first car; an older one. Said child Then proceeded to check the oil but didn't have the hood closed all the way. The wind caught it whole she was speeding off to work, blowing the hood open, proceeding to smash the windshield and badly denting the hood. Being an older car AND her first year driving, we starting searching around town for a used hood. Ace auto happened to have one on hand- the exact same color for $100! The process of going there and getting was a bit awkward for a girly girl like me. Thankful I had two guy friends to help! Upon entering, pick a paper number and wait your turn. Easy enough. When we got to the counter, the nice guy kind of chatted us thru the process and handed us gross, dingy fluorescent yellow beat to put on for our safety while walking thru the yard to inspect the hood before deciding to purchase. (Did I mention I was a girly girl? The germaphobic in me really wanted to pull out some sanitizer and spray the vest down before putting it on!). We proceeded to follow a worker thru isles of parts thru their warehouse & down some stairs and out a back door to the junk yard area. It was really quite an impressive set up despite it being out of my (girly girl) element! The worker was friendly and chatty as he weaved us around cars to the isle of car hoods. After giving it a good look see, we went back thru the yard, into the building, up the stairs, weaved thru isles and isles of tall stacked shelves loaded with car parts- thru the door back to the front desk area where we (very) quickly removed those dingy yellow vests and let the guy know we would go with the car hood. He then gets up and walks us over to the cashier area and hands that gal the paper work. It seems a bit odd that they don't just ring you up themselves and have a completely separate desk area just to pay. After paying, we went out to my daughters car to remove the old hood. They had said to come around to the yard to pick up the other hood but one of the workers actually brought in out to us. Nice! read more

I journed from North Minneapolis to St. Paul for a battery Ace auto store salvage has always been a dependable place but today was the worst experience I've ever had in my life I was racially profiled put into the category of a juvenile drug dealer happen to have a shirt on that said super Kush as I was walking to the receptionist to explain my purchase I was stereotyped and the man behind the counter became very aggressive and offended me many times about what I was wearing when he asked me the dimensions or the size of the battery that I required I didn't know the exact number size 1650 or a 6650 some number that I wasn't familiar with because I didn't know the exact number once again he tried to belittle me I tried my best not to allow his bombardment of offenses to get to me but finally I broke my silence when he asked me hey guy what's wrong with you I told him that it feels like you're talking down to me and I just came to buy a battery which made him upset and he began to yell over me I was just a paying customer with my head down glasses on I tried to keep my cool the best I could but this guy was really provoking me after I tried to explain to him that his behavior wasn't needed and I was just trying to buy a battery I decided that the best thing I could do was turn around and take myself out of this equation And even as I left the establishment that wasn't enough because he began to cuss at me it was the most terrible experience I've ever had at Ace auto salvage they are very racist and bigot it up there they are very rude and their customer service is terrible I've never been so offended in my life he totally ruined my day to the point where I am here right now trying to still vent when I left the Establishment I was so angry shaking and very confused on what I even did to this guy I would never in my life go back there I would rather buy brand new parts then be belittled and disrespected by the receptionist this was a very terrible experience it seemed like this gentleman was very comfortable in insulting me and offending me and was very happy when I walked out I even asked for a supervisor I was looking for the owner Don and the receptionist told me he was the supervisor straight out of a movie I was so disappointed in the service and disappointment in Ace auto salvage I do not recommend this place to any African-American person or any person of color minority or anybody for that matter I've never been so disgusted in my life it took me 4 to 5 hours just to calm down and I will carry this terrible experience with me for the rest of my life he made me conscious of being an African-American and conscious of the color of my skin he tried to belittle me and punch down upon me talk down to me no one in the establishment came to my aid and it seem like everybody was laughing at me I know because I'm black and he's white this will never change and this is the problem in America I wish today never happened because I will never be able to forget the verbal abuse and disrespect that I experience for no reason at all read more

Ace Auto Parts Rude, Cold, Greedy, Mean Spirited, They Cheated Me and There Was No Customer Service. The people at Ace Auto Parts were absolutely horrible beyond all belief! I first visited Ace Auto Parts to buy a starter. I asked the clerk, "Is there a guarantee?" His named was Kurt and he said, "Yes, there's a 30 day guarantee." The piece of junk starter only lasted four days! Then I had to remove the starter and get a ride to return it. Kurt lied to me! The clerk refused to refund me money. He would only give me a credit. I argued with him, I argued with his incredibly rude and callous manager. They refused to honor the word of Kurt, who promised me I could get a refund. I had paid with American Express. I filed a complaint with American Express and asked them to cancel the transaction. They took around two months of make a decision. In the end, they decided to not cancel the transaction, even though the case was cut and dried. Two Years Later: I visited Ace again with a friend; we needed the body of an EGR valve for his Dodge Caravan. Over the telephone, the clerk promised us they had one of these. So we drove over there on a Saturday morning. One of the workers took us down to the basement were there were aisles full of engines. He was Hispanic and his English was poor. He took us to this engine and left us there. Surprise, there was no EGR valve! What's the problem? Back upstairs, talk to another clerk. It turned out, they do not actually inventory their parts! They only know if they have an engine for a particular vehicle. They are too lazy to actually inventory which parts are on the engine! So that was a waste. We also needed a rim. The worker found a rim; the price was $40. I intended to pay for it with my $40 credit. But there was more rudeness from the rude people who only know how to be rude. The clerk pitched a fit that the credit was not valid! This was just unbelievable! I did not want to go around and around with him. To quote Ron White, "You can't fix stupid." I asked to speak with his manager. He said I could speak with Dave, the owner, and he sounded like I should be impressed because Dave was the owner. I was anything but impressed. It was the same thing all over again. Dave stubbornly and rudely refused to honor the credit because it was not signed. Signed by whom? This was the form that American Express mailed to me. It had a transaction number, date, part, a description of my dispute. I told Dave that if a signature was so important to him, look it up on his computer. Dave said they did not keep a record of their own credits! I exclaimed, "This is your business! Every business is supposed to keep a record of their transactions!" He said the stupidest thing anyone could say in response, which was, "Don't tell me how to run my business!" I told him, "I am telling you how to run your business! Everyone who knows the least thing about running a business knows this! This is the most basic thing about running a business! Everybody in the whole world knows this, except you!" To quote Ron White again, "You can't fix stupid." This was pointless, so we decided to leave. As we were walking out, Dave said, "I'll give you $5 credit!" How unbelievably selfish, cold hearted and callous! He was just rude beyond belief! And all he cared about was getting a little more money. I shouted at him, "The credit is for $40, not $5!" This was an absolutely horrid experience. My friend and I agree we would never shop there again. I was wondering how they managed to stay in business. The other customers were poor Hispanics and poor black people. These are people who are not internet savvy. Unfortunately, they don't know how to shop around and they're used to being treated poorly. Every customer deserves to be treated with courtesy and respect. You deserve to be treated with courtesy and respect. You definitely will not be treated well at Ace Auto Parts. Shop elsewhere! That same day we talked with two clerks at one of the local auto parts stores. They both recommend Saint Paul Park Auto Parts, run by a guy with the nickname Dirty Dave. They said Dave is friendly and he knows where everything is in the yard. I have yet to visit Saint Paul Park Auto Parts, but that is where I would go. read more

I call this place and ask about a part. He looks it up tells me has it. I tell him I can be there in 25min. He replies that he will have them start taking the part off now. I get there and tell them the my name and the part I need. They ask me to take a seat and wait until the part is ready. 20min later I go back up get a ticket, wait a couple minutes. I talk to a different person about the part. He walks away, comes back and tells me that the guy taking the part off just had to switch tools, because he grabbed the wrong box; and it should only be a couple more minutes. 20min later I grab another ticket. I end up talking to another person. They leave for a second and come back and tell me they don't have the part, know one could find it!?!? Seriously... So thanks for wasting 2+hours of my day. I have had two incidents in less than 15 days where Jess lied to my husband and I right to our faces! We certainly do not appreciate the way that she treated us, or the way that she spoke to us. JESS, I have worked in Customer Service for 26 years, and I would have been terminated on the spot for doing what you did to us. Either you are related to the owner, or your Daddy got you this job, because I will never believe that the reason you are still employed here has anything to do with your charm, your personality or your skills. I hope that the owner and your boss reads these reviews, because the stunts that you pulled on us, JUST US, completely makes ACE look like crooks. I'm sure you deal with hundreds of people a day, and if you treat just three customers a day the way that you treated us, ACE will be out of business in six months. By the way, NO CUSTOMER should have to put up with you. Your actions are unacceptable, the way you spoke to us is disgusting, and your attitude is piss poor. My suggestion to you is to beg and plead your boss to retrain you from the beginning, or to simply resign. NO ONE deserves to be on the receiving end of your lack of basic common sense. I called to speak to a Manager after I got home, and I'm not even shocked that your Manger did not make every effort to get in touch with me when I had to leave a message to be contacted back. When you lied to our face about us wanting to purchase the cheapest tire you had in stock that would fit our truck, and a rim that we also needed, we felt like you were trying upsale us when all of the sudden the tire was not included in the price you had just given us. We asked three times for the rim AND the tire. I do not believe this was a miscommunication, not when we had told you exactly what we needed not more than 20 minutes prior. People go there to get used parts. Especially a one income family trying to save a few dollars. Please, don't treat anyone else like this, it isn't right. If you take anything away from this review, please let it be this.... When a person receives good customer service, that customer MIGHT tell one other person. I love this place- convenient hours, affordable, fast and accurate service. Makes fixing my V-dubs and Audi's a little less of a chore- can't ask for much more from a salvage yard! In particular Shon went out of his way to locate, retrieve and keep handy some axles I needed off a car in the yard. He even followed up on the phone. Returns have never been a problem just keep your receipt and realize they serve about a thousand customers a day so a little patience may be required. As soon as I got there I saw how busy the place was but they were just pumping through people. The charismatic, spark cashier would shout at everyone as they left "Did you get helped? Are you okay?" - I LOVED THIS! What great service! They really want to help you. My number was called in no time because those speedy fingers and fast workers were busting butt to solve problems. A great family owned business! I was helped immediately despite not having an appointment and simply walking in. My front left rim needed replacement and Ace Auto fortunately had a replacement in stock for my 2011 Toyota Corolla. 20 minutes later, my car was fixed - all for a very reasonable price. If I can give them a 0-star I would I had a 97 Chevy Tahoe for sale so I called them to see if they would buy it they told me 475 on the phone so I pay the tow truck to take it up there and when I get up there they tell me they would only paid 200 for it mine that it had all the tires aluminum rims all the parts were there I didn't take nothing off the vehicle so I was stuck either Payne the tow truck driver another 125 to bring it back to my house or take their $200 so please be careful if you sell them any type of vehicle I'd hate for the same thing to happen to you read more

AMAZING! What excellent customer service from start to finish. I went in for a headlight assembly with the expectation to just get the part for my boyfriend to install...which I know he really didn't want to do. I was amazed when they offered to put it in for me for a very reasonable fee of 30$. As a woman, many places like this treat us poorly.
