I was able to present the issue of the rust and wanting to easily attach/detach the hitch receiver (it was bent or needed some bending) when MN-bike season hibernates for the winter months. They took a closer look and presented a solution (bending it, cleaning it, rhino line (instead of paint to withstand the winter months if deciding to leave it on during winter months). I brought my truck to Tim's due to an annoying drone issue after I installed headers and new exhaust on my truck. I had already tried another shop and they basically said they couldn't do much for me, but tried a couple of things that cost me $700 and made minor improvements at best. Drew at Tim's Custom Exhaust took the time to listen to my concerns, and find a solution that ended up being exactly what I wanted. They took my truck the morning I stopped by to have them look at it and put the new exhaust system in right away and I was able to pick up my truck at lunch time. I'd give 6 stars if I could! We had already purchased a muffler and tip, and were going to have Tim's completely rebuild our exhaust. When we got there, Drew put it on the lift, and showed us how they could just patch in 3" of pipe to fix it, enabling us to return the muffler, and saving us several hundred dollars by not getting a full exhaust job. Good luck finding somewhere else that'll provide customer service like that! I'll definitely be coming back for any exhaust work I need in the future, these guys are top notch! read more

I've been here a couple of times and have, from the start, felt like best friends. They are kind, fair priced and fast. 1st time I was there for a stolen CAT. The first quote was something I couldn't afford. They remembered they had a cheap one someone left and they were able to use that one. I had a quote at Meineke and they were going to charge me $1500. I left their shop paying around $300. A life saver at the time. The second time I was there my muffler was sounding very loud. I didn't have an appointment but they got me in right away and were done in a half hour. Me paying less than $200. I am so thankful for these guys and how they feel like brothers. Way overcharged me for my exhaust and put the resonators about 1 foot after the muffler instead of where I asked him to install them. Avoid this shop like the plague. He got me but he won't get me again or anyone I know. read more

If you need exhaust work, go to Tim and his crew. Don't even mess around with somewhere else. They have done four of our cars now and will get two more next year! We have had two fixes, one overhaul and one complete installation. The next two will likely be overhauls as well. In our last case this June, we had a car getting ready for Back to the Fifties weekend and if you know anything about car shows, you know this one! Anyway, my new car for the show got a new engine and none of the original exhaust lined up so we drove it to Tim's just four days before the show. In less than two days, my car had a complete and fully custom exhaust like no other! I have never, in my 40+ years of car shows, seen anyone do a side pipes like he put on my '57 Nomad!! Showed up at 8am to have a Borla Sportsman muffler installed on my 2009 GMC. The stock muffler was an offset in/out and the muffler I brought them was a straight in/out. They custom bent a 3.5" pipe to straighten it back out, and installed the Borla muffler with a stainless welds! Didn't even think about a smaller diameter, knew to do it right it had to be the same diameter all the way. They even rotated the new muffler so when you look at it from the side you can perfectly read the name stamped into the side. Best part- I literately left at 8:45am! They did high quality work, extremely fast, and charged a fair price. I would recommend them to anyone wanting exhaust work done. read more

I discovered Tim's Custom Exhaust after my catalytic converter was stolen off my vehicle while parked overnight at another shop. They were able to quickly replace it and for a fraction of the price. I find them to be straight and honest while also being price conscious for their customers. Since my initial visit, I have been finding more and more reasons to continue doing business with Tim's. When I have a problem they can't fix, they give solid referrals. But they can do just about anything (excepting tires, as I understand it), so they're my first call for any vehicle problem. Prices are very reasonable and it's clear they cultivate long term relationships with their customers. Whenever I'm waiting, there are other customers who have stories about how Tim's has come through for them. So I know my experience isn't a one-off. Overall, Tim's is a great place to go to get exhaust. They designed a great working, custom Flowmaster system for our truck and it looks and sounds great. They were willing to discuss options and recommend things based on their experience with exhaust. 5-Star exhaust service. The only reason I gave them a 4 is because of the cost of their other services. They now offer mechanic services (everything except tires) and the prices they quoted were astronomical! Expect to pay 2x+ what other reputable local shops would charge for the same service. I authorized them to repair the sway bar links on the truck and they charged $250 (after I negotiated a discount) and after the fact I talked with another shop and they quoted $120. Bottom line, if you need great exhaust work from a shop that really knows what they are doing I would recommend Tim's. But be cautious about authorizing them for other services if you don't know how much they should be. read more

I have had nothing but a terrible experience with this place. Not only did they try to make me pay for parts that they broke, but the work I had done failed. I have now had my truck there for 5 days for a simple replacement on warrantied work and they haven't touched my vehicle. They won't even take accountability for their poor performance. Had I not had mechanical experience myself, they would have charged me $1,200 more than they quoted me for. I'm now picking up my vehicle to drive to another shop to have warrantied work done. I was recommended Tim's by my brother for some work to be done. Figured, it's my brother, of course he wants me to go where he did. Fortunately I did. They were AWESOME. Quite possibly the best customer service I've ever had. Quick, friendly and inexpensive. But don't let the inexpensive fool you ..... the work was top notch. It's nice to be able to ask a bunch of questions and NOT be made to feel like a jackass like most places do. If they did mechanic work, body work, etc... These people really know what they are doing, and they're not arrogant about it. I came in with a 2006 Scion Xb (aka "The Tin Box") that I wanted to sex up a little bit. They could have taken me for a real ride and socked me with a $500 job, for all I knew. Instead, they talked me into just replacing the muffler with a piece of high quality stainless steel pipe for $85. Heckuva deal, and it gave me exactly the sound I wanted. Plus, I got to take a picture of my car on a lift between a brand new Jaguar XKE and $50,000 fully amped muscle car... The Jag owner wanted his exhaust tuned just right, and couldn't imagine going anywhere else. For all my future exhaust work, I can't either. read more

Brought my truck in at 8 a.m. to have headers put on and complete 3" exhaust run all the way back. The headers were challenging to say the least. If it could go wrong, it did! These guys wished I had never showed up I'm sure, but they plugged away at it at made sure everything was put together perfectly. They had 2 guys working on it from 8 am until 7 pm. (they closed at 6) on a FRIDAY because I needed the truck to get to work Monday morning. I can't praise these guys enough. Definitely TOP NOTCH!!! read more

Women, steer clear of Tim's Custom exhaust! It's hard as a women to find a trustworthy mechanic to do the job right at a fair price, or to do the right job in the first place! I brought my car in once and had my harmonizing balencer replaced because it was put on incorrectly in the first place and cauzed my alternator belt to come off. They did a great job so I returned the next time I needed, which was for a wiggly steering wheel that I thought might be a front left axle problem of some sort. I brought my car into them, told them what was gong on, and Todd took a look at it. He said he 'saw nothing wrong' and wanted to have one of his mechanics test drive it around to see if he could figure out what the problem was. He did and it was decided that I needed a new CV axle, new struts, and something else that I cannot recall at the moment. I set up an appointment for the following day but as the following day arrived, I had an incling to have my dad check it out for himself since he has been a mechanic his entire life and I trust him more than a couple of old mechanic dudes that I'm not related to. Needless to say, my dad is never wrong about my car and every other man to ever look at it has been. Probably because I'm a young blonde woman and a target for mechanics to make money. But I've been fucked over enough times to know better than that! Rightfully so! My dad hoisted my car up at his shop, spun the front wheel enough to notice the front left brake was jammed, which was causing it to shake when I accelerated. My dad knew right away what the men at Tim's Custom Exhaust were trying to do. And they weren't trying to help me. I don't blame a business man trying to make a buck, but c'mon man, my dad's a mechanic and you knew that! All I know is, I won't be taking my car back to Tim's. I want to trust the person working on my car to be honest with me and I know from experience that a couple of the men at Tim's Custom Exhaust aren't honest. Thanks for your time. read more
