I tried to…read morecash a Western Union money order today, while I was waiting 15 mins for the employee to "enter me into their system," I witnessed an older man clearly caught in their predatory loan scheme. He was obviously confused about something, and rather than answer his question they gave him a hotline number to call. After what seemed like forever, the employee gave me a sticky note to write my confidential SSN, they must have run a background check on me or something because they then printed out a list of the addresses where I've resided over the last 10 years. At this point, they're telling me to write down a list of three references and their phone numbers for them to call and verify before we can get started. This is when I got a bad taste in my mouth, and I asked them to cancel the transaction because I have somewhere to be. Even then, they held on to my confidential info for at least another five minutes while they "called their manager" on their cell phone (on speaker) to no avail. No answer there. Super unprofessional. I finally had to get pushy, they tried to take a copy of my driver's license at which point I asked why they were doing so if we aren't doing a transaction. They rolled their eyes and gave me my info back, after asking at least three separate times. I almost said something impolite, and I'm Canadian! That should show how fishy this place is. 10/10 would not recommend. Go to Money Tree in Oceanside. After reading other reviews online it seems like they would have tried to tax the money order heavily to top it all off. I'm super glad I didn't waste an hour of my life in this dingy building just for them to hit me with the 10% fee. Felt like they were trying to steal my identity or something equally as creepy/weird. All the while making me out to be suspect and trying to verify me with references because I needed to cash a money order. Extremely bizarre. Bullet dodged, will be reporting to BBB and CPPA

My best suggestion -if you are a new customer- is to call in first to make sure you bring in all the documents you'll need to start the process of applying for a payday loan. You can borrow between $100-$255. Mind you, this IS a business so the interest rate on the loans are high. That being said, if you can **borrow money from a friend or family member** DO IT bc that will save you from paying the interest rate. Today I borrowed $255 and I will have to pay back $300 on the last day of the month (when I get paid). Since I just borrowed money 2 months ago I just had to show my most recent bank statement - which you can request from your bank in person OR you can access thru your bank's online banking system. If you call the business over the phone they can help walk you through it so you can find your statement, email it in PDF form then email it to them. Do NOT try to get a payday loan if you don't have a job or I can tell you right now you'd be better off holding a sign begging for change on a street corner. This service is for people who can pay back the loan. I want to add is that this store no longer does personal loans, probably bc everyone is broke bc of COVID so that's not a gamble this business can afford to make. The last thing I'd like to mention and ~what separates this spot from other payday loan places~ is that they have always let me loan out the max amount, whereas other places can treat you like a criminal and only let you borrow $100. I highly recommend this business. 5 stars all the way!
