In just the one week camp, the littles learned a whole little dance routine that they performed for us at the end of the week and my daughter had SO much fun! We did their summer mini sessions there till Fall and I cannot express enough how happy we are at DE! All of the teachers are so amazing and so welcoming. We've been with a few different teachers since summer and I love how everyone has their own style. If I could give more stars, I would. Absolutely love this place!! :)

I do wish the recital procedure was better. We had quite the ordeal. The information could easily be laid out in one email or one flyer, sent with attachments for allotted tickets, rosters of kids in individual classes and times of shows and simple bullet instructions for the day of the performance, but it's pretty jumbled in our opinions--lots of papers, lots of emails, disorganized rosters that can entirely mislead you. It just seems more chaotic than it needs to be for a simple recital for children. But, as I said, over all, my kids had a nice time. We are sorry that we can't stay for more classes.

I can't believe I forgot to write a review of this guy's class. Guess I was trying to forget the…read moreawful treatment and lack of professionalism I received from the instructor. Tony was incredibly rude toward me when I attended my first dance session with him. The other students were more helpful and polite than the instructor himself. I'm not the most coordinated person. I'll admit that and appreciate any person's patience when teaching me a sport or activity that requires a decent amount of coordination. I believe I was learning Polka or foxtrot at his class, but I was struggling with getting the coordination down since I was a first-timer. Tony was going about making sure that the students were on the right track. He looked frustrated that I wasn't getting it, and finally started to berate me. He asked me: "Why don't you understand how to do it correctly? Can you not understand English?" I was stunned and furious to say the least. He wrote me off as a foreigner unable to understand English based on looks instead of being patient like a teacher should be. I'm a native English speaker and was born in the US, unlike him, but saying something hurtful so casually like that wouldn't be acceptable even if the person wasn't a native English speaker. I've heard that South America had horrendous racial tensions, so I could see that Tony brought its racism with him when he came to the United States. If you're not an Anglo or Hispanic person, and don't have any experience with dancing, then expect Tony to say something rude when you don't understand his dance lessons on your first try. I excused myself and went to cry in the bathroom for a few minutes for the poor treatment. Then discreetly left the building. Lo and behold, the man had the gall to follow me to my car! He even positioned himself so that I couldn't slam my door without hitting him. He started advertising his other classes, and gave half-hearted encouragement since I was a beginner. As far as I'm concerned, the "encouragement" was too little to late when he burned a bridge by criticizing my English listening skills. I won't try learning how to dance again thanks to this man even if it's for my own wedding.

He is very detailed in explaining how to do the moves in the most efficient way, starting from the very basics. The Sunday class where he teaches salsa, swing and country two step and Argentine tango is so much fun! I also like the Wednesday Batchata and Kizomba class. One of the best parts is when we go out dancing after class as a group to practice. I feel much more confident when I go out dancing then when I did before I started. I appreciate that Tony is patient and kind with all the students, no matter their dance level. Sometimes the more difficult or advanced moves take a lot of repetition, but he never makes us feel rushed. I have learned a lot in class -- even more than just dancing! And I recommend Tony's classes to anyone with an interest in learning partner dance.

There's no way that the situation she described has actually occurred. They have a very strict policy about wearing cover ups in and out of the studio, and they take every aspect of the studio seriously, ESPECIALLY the comfort level of the parents. Ms. Rachel and Ms. Mara have been excellent as instructors, and Ms. Kim has been instrumental in running the school. These women take dancing and the etiquette surrounding it VERY seriously. The school coordinates dance recitals for the students bi-annually, and they are always well orchestrated. In the past when I couldn't come up with enough dues to keep the girls in dance, Ms. Kim and Ms. Rachael even worked with me to make sure that the girls could stay in classes! My girls have been in other dance studios for brief stints while moving to different areas, but I've always ended up commuting to keep them coming to JWSD. JWSD has a dance company called Body Talk that they train and choreograph in house as well, so there's really no ceiling in regard to what your child can learn there. As a side note, I have a friend I've known for nearly 20 years who learned to dance at JWSD when she was a young girl and onward. She's now a very talented professional dancer and choreographer. Ms. Kim and Ms. Joyce were her teachers. I highly suggest bringing your little ones to JWSD, even if just for comparative analysis. They also have tap and dance classes for adults! Feel free to message me for more references.

The teachers are supportive, fun, and truly invested in the kids. Not only have they grown as dancers in such a short time, but they've also built so many friendships that make this place feel like family. The energy in the studio is positive and welcoming, and it's been amazing to watch their confidence shine both on and off the stage. We're so grateful to have found this dance school!

What I really loved about the class is that the activities changed quickly, used lots of props, and were mostly active - all great qualities for this age group, especially my little one who seems extra wiggly. I've been to other classes/activities where the kids were expected to be seated for more than half the time which doesn't feel age-appropriate. We did stretches, ballet moves, and dances - all in fun, approachable ways. For example, rather than telling the kids to lift their legs with pointed toes repeatedly, the instructor blew a bunch of bubbles into the room and encouraged the kiddos to try to pop them with their toes. My little one mostly tried to capture them in her hand but there was lots of movement and silliness so I didn't feel like her normal toddler behavior would be viewed as 'bad behavior.' Overall, we had a ton of fun and my kiddo smiled often. I also appreciate that certain shoes or attire aren't required. They just need to wear something comfortable and be barefooted (if not in ballet shoes.) Keep in mind, for this age group (1.5 - 3 years) an adult needs to participate. It wasn't hard. In fact, it was enjoyable to just run and jump and spin with my kiddo. But, if you have some injuries or are differently abled, it might be worth talking with an instructor ahead of time to see how you might best participate. I'm also SO SO appreciative that they offer classes not just on Saturdays but also on Sundays. So many kids activities are limited to the week and it's tough for us parents who work the standard 9-5 with kiddos in daycare. Even the ones that have weekend hours, many are closed on Sundays. Logistically speaking: parking was easy, the space was clean, and there was a changing table and sink stool in the bathroom. So excited to attend again!

The owner is more concerned about making money instead of caring about your child's wellbeing. There was an instance at an event where the kids were performing and one of the kids went missing. Instead of owning up to it and learning from it, the owner just made excuses. When you sign up for competition dance, the owner stressed unity and teamwork. But when it came down to competition time, she splits up the group if she doesn't think the kids aren't ready. How does that promote unity and teamwork? Also she says that the fundraisers are optional but then ends up charging for it. And she offers discounts for good reviews. Guess we aren't getting a discount. On top of that, they charge for everything...EVERYTHING! If they have a "party", you have to pay to participate. They nickel and dime the crap out of you. If I could give negative stars, I would.
