This would make it very difficult to reach someone immediately in case of an emergency. Our concerns about this were brushed off, and we mostly communicated with one of the students, who, to her credit, was always kind and willing to answer questions. I believe her name was Anais, or something similar. Nevertheless, we ultimately decided to pull our child out of the studio due to safety concerns and the repeated difficulty of reaching someone quickly by phone. Having a landline and a staff member stationed at the front near the doors at all times would have made a big difference. On several occasions, we walked in and no one even noticed, which caused my wife significant anxiety. It was unfortunate to leave the studio, as our child absolutely loved her ballet teacher.

I signed my 2.5 and 4 yr olds up for dance camp (M-F, 8am-12pm) and they/we felt safe and comfortable from day one. The camp included breakfast, snacks, and a schedule of fun activities, with a mini performance for the parents on the last day. The staff members and owner, Nancy, were consistently warm, kind and enthusiastic-- which is one of the first things I pay attention to when it comes to anyone watching my littles. Nancy was easy to talk to and open, answering all of my questions and concerns. She's flexible and does her best to ensure that a partnership is established between herself and the parents, ultimately for kids. I greatly appreciated that. This is now the only studio my girls want to attend; they had so much fun! After class they are always happy, encouraged and excited about coming back. We continue to choose Arts Avenue because we know the teachers genuinely care about our girls and provide a loving and encouraging environment for them to learn and grow in dance. This year we have classes with Ms. Kate and Ms. Alex. Ms. Kate is highly qualified with a B.F.A. degree in dance and choreography with many years of professional experience in those areas. She is always kind and patient, but encourages setting goals and challenging her students to grow in their skills. Besides directing the company team (which has been winning lots of competition awards), Kate has choreographed beautiful ballets for the Arts Avenue team performances the past two years. Ms. Alex is currently pursing a degree at Southwestern University with a minor in dance where she is also the Pom Squad Captain. Ms. Alex loves many genres of dance from ballet to hip hop and makes her classes really fun. She is always kind and fun but is also very organized with lesson plans and goals to encourage her students to grow in skills. This year she even organized a fun Pom Camp for the kids with Southwestern University and they were able to perform for the university basketball game. Those details--rehearsal schedules, dates, and location--were never communicated. When we asked for clarification, we were told the studio was still working through the details, which is unacceptable given that families had already paid. To make matters worse, the studio attempted to attribute the confusion to my child rather than taking accountability for their lack of communication. It also became clear that the studio prioritizes its competition team, while other students receive significantly less organization and preparation--despite paying for recital participation and costumes. We expected a much higher level of professionalism and transparency.

We were even ready to enroll her in classes there in the new year, however, the owner has lost our respect and business. December 3, the day of my daughters bday party she woke up throwing up and sick. Her party was scheduled for December 3 at 4 pm. I called journey gymnastics on December 3 at 9:35 am to notify them of my daughters illness. I called to obtain a policy regarding rescheduling her birthday party. I was unable to find any policy online or in any email that was sent at the time I booked the party as confirmation. I called a total of 5 times the day of her birthday party, including 1 of those times being right at the start time of her party (4pm) and again around 4:30 pm. I left a voicemail with a call back number and I also emailed the business twice (once at 9:38 am and 12:07pm) regarding rescheduling her party/obtaining a policy. I never got a response the day of her party, and I started to think they were unaware of the scheduled party as no one contacted me when we didn't show up for the party. I called Monday Dec 4, to see how to reschedule the event. I was told I would receive a call back. I spoke with Felicia who told me my options were either to have the birthday party Dec 9 or 10 or pay $140 extra to have the party in January. I requested to speak with the gym owner. Terek, the gym owner, was extremely unaccommodating and unprofessional in his conversation with me. He was very argumentative and had no desire to make things right. His options were for me to reschedule the party for the following weekend Dec 9-10, or to reschedule the party for January 2024 at an additional cost of $140. He said his reasoning for up-charging me in January is because he will lose money by allowing me to transfer the credit to January at no additional cost. I also want to mention, I have checked the birthday calendar online for January and he currently has 23 party spots available out of 24 slots in January. This was very surprising to me as I had a difficult time contacting anyone regarding day of party policy cancellations/rescheduling. There was additionally, no policy available on the website. He became very frustrated with me as I tried to explain our situation and ask for a rescheduled date being in January at no extra cost. I was asking for a January birthday party as my husband is working this upcoming weekend Dec 9-10 and I am 38 (soon to be 39) weeks pregnant, due any day now. Terek continued to argue with me about the money, stating I have caused him to lose money by not showing up for her party and he will lose even more by giving away a January party. I persisted for either a refund or January party free of additional charge, to which he stated there was a no refund policy. I again asked him to send me the policy to which he said "bye" and hung up on me. I received a policy in my email about 18 hours after initially requested. The policy states no refund or cancellations, but still does not state how to handle last minute inconveniences such as your 3 year old daughter vomiting the morning of the party. I asked multiple times for a policy and was met with multiple excuses. (If you look at the website there is now a no cancellation or refund policy that was added on December 6, after our discussion about policies) which I believe was completed on the 6th. He emailed me a policy about 11 hours after our conversation on the phone. The policy emailed to me and the policy online do not match. I asked for him to send me a copy of any policy that I signed, to which he responded he will no longer be speaking to me. This business owner, Terek Brown, is not interested in owning up to his mistakes or helping a family out due to unforeseen circumstances. He is also extremely difficult to communicate with and was very unaccommodating to our family. He is more interested in the "money he's losing out on". This business owners character and integrity are non existent.

I was disappointed to find out they did not offer transportation from my youngest daughter's school any longer, but a discount was given on some of her classes to make up for the fact that I had to drive her from school to KidSport. Less than two months into the programs, the martial arts teacher quit, and there was no replacement lined up. My older daughter was upset when she arrived and didn't know what to do or where to go, so was in tears. One of the staff, instead of offering her some support or comfort, told her to "Stop whining and being a baby." Unacceptable. The breaking point came last week when I got to the facility to drop my youngest daughter off after school, the day before Thanksgiving break. My older daughter tells me that she got left at school. The person responsible for picking up all of the students from the elementary school didn't see her right away, and just assumed we were on vacation despite not receiving a note/call/email from us as is outlined in their protocol, so LEFT WITHOUT HER. The school, knowing my 9 year old little girl was left behind, called them and she came back to get my daughter. No one from KidSport called me to let me know my child had been left, or that this mistake had been made. I only found out by accident. And when I brought it up, the woman who left her behind laughed, as if it was somehow funny. I hate having to post a negative review, but when it comes to the basic safety of a child, I cannot in good conscience let it go. I can't even think what might have happened to my little girl had a responsible teacher not been there to watch over her when the people we had paid to do so failed miserably.

She had zero teaching skills and had no idea how to keep the kids engaged or excited about learning to swim. At one lesson, an older more experienced teacher stepped in and took over as she saw the younger teacher was doing so poorly. The older teacher got my child to do more in 5 min than the younger teacher was able to do in the first 40 min of class. I asked to switch to the older teacher's class but unfortunately she was just there to help out in the next class (and didn't teach there regularly). We WASTED the $90 for the lessons that is for sure. My older kids had gone to a swim school in Leander but she isn't teaching anymore :( Do not waste your money or time here, find a place that has EXPERIENCED teachers.
