Somebody came last week and checked the list of electrical work we needed done. He told my husband he's going to text the quote the following day. Fast forward to today (over a week later), we still haven't heard from them. My husband has called a few more times the last week and not a blip from them. I texted the owner's number last night and told him my hesitation in posting this negative review due to their extreme lack of communications. Still no response. As much as I like supporting local businesses, I'm also one who leaves reviews based on our experience (negative or positive). I don't recommend them and are now on the lookout for another reputable electrician.

The problem is if you have a dehumidifier like most people in Texas, they don't check that even if it right in their face and they also don't tell you up front that isn't part of the maintenance. So, when your dehumidifier breaks it's obviously not their problem. And when you cancel the maintenance plan they won't give you a partial refund even if you have only had it for one month. Weeks is another example of a company with shady business practices.

I have used Nextdoor Electric once for actual work and also obtained three quotes from them. My…read moreusual electrical company, Blue Electrical Contractors, was super busy so I decided to try Nextdoor based on their Yelp reviews. I had them take down an old outdoor ceiling fan from my back porch and install two new ceiling lights: one in the same spot as the ceiling fan and the other over the seating area to provide more light (see photo). The job cost $572 which I thought was a little bit high, but I wanted the work done. Two big issues with the job: First of all, the technician didn't install the round ceiling light insulation discs in each fixture (see photo) which is to my understanding required to meet Underwriters Laboratory requirements. (The insulation is used to reflect heat from incandescent bulbs.) He also cracked one of the plastic conduit hangers so that it was actually broke. I found the insulation thrown in the garbage and had to dig them back out and have the technician come back to put them in and replace the broken hanger. Also, wasn't really keen on the fact that he used plastic hangers vs. metal to hang the conduit. Another issue was that I wanted a multi-outlet switch in my garage changed out to a standard outlet; see photo. Nextdoor quoted me $187 to change it out. Caido, from Blue Electrical Contractors stopped by and I had him look at it. It was only a cover; Caido unscrewed one screw and the regular outlet was underneath. I could have done it had I known this. It took Caid 5 seconds to take the multi-outlet cover off and he didn't charge me a thing. Okay. This is ridiculous! $187??!! This shows me the technician from Nextdoor Electric didn't even know what he was quoting. I was speaking to Caido from Blue Electric about Nextdoor and how I will never use them again, but can't understand their great reviews. Caido was telling me that Nextdoor's reviews could be fake and/or purchased. I really am questioning these reviews. I will never have them do any work for me again. Go with Blue Electric the next time you need electrical work; I have used them for years.

I read many of the Yelp reviews and found almost all of them to highly recommend Luis as he had done lots of this type of work. First let me say that I was extremely impressed with Luis' professionalism, responsiveness and value for the work being done. No matter how many times I texted him with questions, he quickly responded. Once he came out, we were very happy with his excellent installation and he explained everything to us about how to properly use the generator inlet once the job was completed. Luis installed a generator inlet, an additional electrical sub panel, home surge protector and a soft start system on our air conditioner compressor. He did an excellent job and everything took him about 4-5 hours, which was amazing. So if you're in need of a licensed electrician, I highly recommend Luis and 3 Guys Electric for your electrical needs.
