We had Ace Home Improvement install five windows. There were two technicians that came to do the work: Drew & Carey. I can't say enough of how pleased we were with their performance. They did a great job of covering all of the areas in the room prior to starting the work. They fully explained everything that they would be doing beforehand to be sure that we understood how the work would proceed and to answer any questions that we might have. I was amazed by how much work they had to do. They performed this work competently and professionally. The windows looked beautiful from both inside the house and on the exterior of the house. They cleaned up everything before they left. They also explained all of the features of these windows. We would highly recommend the Company and these technicians, and would plan to use them for future projects. What in particular impressed was the following: We had a new quartz countertop installed, which included a new sink and faucet. One of the windows being replaced was a kitchen window directly above the quartz countertop, sink and faucet. We were very nervous about whether the window could be put in without damaging them. They were able to do this work without even the slightest scratch anywhere. Simply incredible! read more

We hired them to replace wood around the outside our home and wrap it. We had a contract with what was supposed to be done. The crew showed up with no idea what they were there to do, my husband had to give them the contract. Then they forgot to put a window in the contract said he didn't see it right next to the other up the price. After two days the left without letting us check the work. They forgot a few places. Then hounded us for payment. Today they finally came to finish and again something that was agreed upon magically disappeared from the contract but we can pay more and they would do. First off I have to say we've been using Ace for years now on several projects from Window upgrades, siding, and putting in a brand new deck. Everyone there is very knowledgeable and helpful. Not even worth the 1 star I am rating them. Signed up for new roof in 2020. They told me it would take 1 week but they couldn't start until the spring (It was Oct). They called back in Nov and said they could do it now! So excited I agreed. They ripped of the roof and a week later told me they cant finish it until the spring. They covered half my roof with a tarp to be there all winter in the snow! They didn't finish this until May. Called them back because my roof was leaking from a skylight that they closed up. They fixed it and then I get a bill for another $375 - they never told me they would be charging me and I did not agree to this before the services were rendered. Where to begin? In 2011, on the recommendation of our realtor, we commissioned Ace (then called Ace Aluminum) to replace all of the windows in our newly purchased home and to install a custom bath enclosure. Everything went smoothly and we were happy with the results. At that point in time, I would have rated them five stars! Fast forward to 2022, we decided to upgrade our home with new quartz counters & backsplash and to replace our storm doors. Ace was quick to send a salesman who evaluated our needs and gave us a "ballpark" quote. This quote was, according to the salesman, before the application of a large ($1,000.00, I think) promotional discount and before a special return customer discount that we had been promised. When the written quote came in, the prices had been RAISED - - so that when the promotional discount was applied, the cost to us remained the same. Further, the consideration promised to returning customers was nowhere to be seen. We brought this to the attention of the salesman and the main office. We were promised that everything would be reviewed and new quotes issued. Going on this assurance, my wife and I made a trek to Ace's kitchen consultant / quartz fabricator in Union county. This was a round trip of almost 75 miles, 75 wasted miles! We picked our quartz, sink and tile (for the backsplash) and Ace, again, promised the revised quotations. Days passed and NOTHING! Inquiries to the salesman yielded ZERO. Contact with the main office resulted in emails to the salesman, urging action. Still ZILCH! We are talking about weeks here! We finally dropped the expectation of anything from Ace. We sourced our own doors, found a source for the quarts, contracted with a quartz fabricator, electrician, plumber and installer. We are now in the midst of installation of the kitchen project and the storm doors will follow in 10 days. So, as I said, 11 years ago I would have rated a five. Unfortunately, today, I now would like to rate at zero. Since I can't rate a zero and since I have no idea how to average the past with the present...I can only give today's rating and that is limited by the inability to rate under one star. Just a closing thought: When seeking to source my current projects, I did not read Ace's reviews. BIG MISTAKE! This review is not, by any means, the worst of the recent reviews. What I thought was a good idea, turned into something I wish I didn't commit too. I called Ace, was forwarded to Barry (Father & Owner), of which he immediately came to our house in Late January. Barry would call at least 2-3 times a week to ensure the sunroom was on schedule to be built. I needed footers, which the town communicated and that's where CRAP went sideways. They didn't support the walls with forms, so because of the rain and wet ground, they collapsed not once, but twice, until they listened to what I suggested and the town communicated. Everything was delayed and finally installed in July. Barry stopped calling when the schedule was missed (April timeframe), which led me to David his son. David is only concerned about collecting money and telling you, you don't understand construction and what they do. David several times only wanted to discuss how he knows construction and how things aren't what they appear (meaning I want more money, because it wasn't quoted properly). Please listen to their messaging on hold when you call and ask if what they're saying about taking care of their customers is really what they're preaching...... The workers who installed the sunroom were fantastic, but the office workers and management are horrible communicators and only care about collecting what is owed. I contracted ace 5 weeks ago and gave them a 33% down payment (500). They scheduled the job for 2 weeks later aug 29 - They failed to show up with NO PHONE CALL to cancel or reschedule Then after I called to see what happened I was given a few excuses why they failed - then the appointment was reset for sept 5. (Wed ). Or sept 7 ( Friday ) weather permitting - the weather was ok - and again NO ONE showed up and NO ONE called to cancel or reschedule I called again and spoke with a very nice woman who assured me that the men will come and do the job today sept 11. At about 8:30 am - It rained last night but is not raining this morning - Once again NO BODY SHOWED UP AND NO ONE CALLED TO CANCEL OR RESCHEDULE - I called and requested a call from the owners/ Barry or Dave - They had someone named Mark call me with more excuses why they failed to show up They have my deposit - they forced me to stay home from work on 3 occasions - It cost me more in my own personal time then the job is worth The job is now scheduled for Thursday with mark - I hope he shows up as he promised No one in business should treat there customers in this manner , it's rude and unprofessional . Imagine what would happen if I just chose not to show up to work on 3 occasions without calling in to alert my superiors ? If you have a big job, Ace is great. But if you need a small job done, forget it. Ace replaced my roof and they were terrific. However, 3 weeks ago, I had a gutter issue and my first floor was being flooded. Called and spoke to Keith. Even sent him photos. Said he was going to try to see the problem but was leaving for Florida. Not sure why no one else could look at the issue? Anyway, waited a week for Keith to return . Emailed him and he said he would stop by. That was 6 days ago. Sent him an email asking what was going on, no response. Finally went to a different gutter vendor. All done. Turns out gutter was loose and just needed repair. So, my suggestion, caution with Ace! read more

I wish I had read the other reviews before getting my windows replaced with this terrible company. The salesman was fine, gave a reasonable quote, said the windows would take awhile to get here which I already had assumed due to the Supply Chain issues in the US. Each and every time I was contacted by Maria and Linda from their office, I was met with a condescending and aggressive tone, about everything. I find this so puzzling in today's day and age where each dollar is precious and customers should be valued! I just shrugged it off and couldn't wait for the project to be over so I wouldn't have to deal with these people anymore. My husband is a medical professional and I have my own business, and it amazed me that Ace would have such awful people manning their phones. No one like this would have lasted a day in either one of our offices! The window installer was so lovely, kind, neat, and hardworking and completed the job in one day. He was a breath of fresh air compared to the rest. The very next morning I got a phone call from Maria that a balance was still due on a screen that I had purchased from another subcontractor through Ace. I had asked the installer about it, and he told me just to pay for the windows, so I contacted the other company directly and left a message so that I could pay them. Maria scolded me that I should have called her about the balance, and I told her that it was after 5 pm when the gentleman completed the job. What I should have said was how come your installer wasn't given the correct amount to ask me for? every single time, this condescending tone. Previously, they called and left messages three times over a weekend with aggressive messages. We were away! was it really necessary to call and leave three messages over a weekend?? I guess she was anxious to schedule and collect the money! Later on in the same day, the day after the installation, I got another phone call from Linda saying that I still owed $300. I was getting my paperwork out to check, and was trying to go over it line by line with her when she kept interrupting me and I asked her to please let me speak! it turns out that their salesman had made a math error on my contract at the beginning which was never caught. I asked her, why couldn't you just tell me that he made a mistake instead of coming at me with such an aggressive tone, almost like I had done something untoward! how about an apology?!! she continued on with the aggressive and condescending tone, so I told her I would send a check and hung up the phone. A few minutes later, I started getting phone calls from a "private caller". After the third call, which I did not answer because I figured it was them again, someone screamed into the phone and left that on my answering machine. I can't believe I am even writing such a thing! In all my years, I have never dealt with such people. I wish I had gone with Home Depot who gave me a similar quote but were unable to provide the screen door I needed. I am still incredulous that this happened. Rest assured, I will never use them again, and will tell everyone I come in contact with about this terrible experience with such unprofessional and childish people. Shame on you. read more

I got my roof done about 6months ago along with few gutter fixes. The roof work was good but I wasn't quite sure what they did regarding the gutter issue. I had stated that my gutters were leaking at few points which I wanted them to fix. I never got a chance to check until now when I could see that the problem has worsen. From dripping it is now overflowing. So I called them if they can come back and have a look as that would be covered under warranty, but they said they would not do anything. Instead they started telling me how I can fix myself or get new gutters. So if you get anything new done and hope that the warranty will be respected, you can use this example to draw your own conclusions. read more

They agreed to scope of work and all terms, they kept saying "we're 203k approved we can definitely do this" after two months of waiting to get them approved by the bank and finally doing so, they said they pulling out and demanded 35% down and they will not work with a bank. I called Ace when my home sale inspection pointed out a few siding repairs. I had previously called other siding companies who didn't get back to me because of the small nature of the job. Dan came out - was very pleasant and professional and the next few days I had an estimate. When they came out for the job, I noticed one of the issues were unresolved. Dawn in the office helped me and was a pleasure to deal with. Dan came back out - it was a little delayed after initial call - but the one part not being fixed ended up being a miscommunication on my part. He fixed the problem and was really a nice guy about it even though he was stuck in 120 degree crawl space to fix it. I would recommend them. read more

I worked with this company in the past. About 3 years ago, Barry, the owner replaced my windows for a great price. He has done an excellent job. A few days ago I had an issue with my window. During a heavy rain, the water came pouring into my house. I was told by a repair guy in my neighborhood that I had to replace the entire window that would have cost me around $6000. I called Ace to get an estimate. Steve came over to my house. Checked my window and found the problem. The window was fine. The draining holes were clogged causing the water to pour inside the house. He fixed the problem in a matter of 5-10 minutes. Today it rains heavily, but my Windows are sealed, no water coming in. Steve could have lied, just like the guy in my development, and forced me to install a new window, but Steve showed true honesty and did not take advantage of the situation as I was in desperate need to keep my house dry. I called these guys to repair a garage door that slipped off track and wouldn't open. I called for an appointment with no trouble. The guy came on time and told me he could repair the problem. I said OK, a couple of weeks later I accidentally pressed the garage door button the wrong way (down when the door was already closed) and the problem reoccurred. Hired them to do a job based on timeframe provided by rep. Turned out the job took four times longer than we were told (which they knew at the time); we had another company that could have delivered in much less time. (Timing was relevant because we another contractor hung up until the Ace job was completed.) As time passed, I tried to get updates from Ace but regularly did not get return calls after leaving messages. Had to point out I was increasingly getting annoyed with customer service to get appropriate attention. Kicker was the fact they called the very next day after job was complete to ask for payment (after stringing me along for over 8 weeks). Ace knew we were displeased with their customer service but never made any attempts to mitigate the dissatisfaction until we asked for some compensation for the aggravation --they took $100 off the invoice (which was less than 3% of total job cost.) read more

If I could give this business zero stars, I would. We contacted them two months ago to provide us with an estimate on multiple repairs on our home after our previous contractor walked away with our money and didn't finish the work. We needed the estimate for our attorney, but we were also looking to hire them to fix the shoddy/incomplete work as soon as possible due to damage and safety issues. Guy came out to inspect the property the following Monday and didn't take any notes for the first 45 minutes. There was a lot to discuss. Before he left, he said we would have the estimate no later than Friday of that week. On Tuesday of the next week, I called the office to speak to Guy after he didn't respond to my emails. Although the office staff was extremely rude, I remained persistent. He finally took the call and said he would have it by next Friday because he didn't know the mason was on vacation. Well, OK. I was annoyed that he never communicated that, especially after what we went through with our previous contractor (which he knew about). We waited another week. After we still didn't hear from him, we called the office again. The rude receptionist said they'd relay the message. A woman called me back the next day and said Guy had a family issue but would have the estimate within a couple of days. So, we waited ANOTHER WEEK. After over a month, we got an estimate. However, many items were missing from it due to him not taking any notes. There was no apology for the delay, and it was basically a template that could have been done in 30 mins or less. My husband called and asked to speak to a manager several days later since Guy would no longer return our calls or respond to our emails. The manager was also extremely rude and unsympathetic. He claimed that the salesman is on over 100 jobs at one time (slight exaggeration??), and he needs to be thorough with our quote. It takes time, and we need to be patient, he said. To this day, 2 months later, we still don't have a full estimate. We wasted all of that time for absolutely nothing, and ACE ultimately lost a $60K job. I thought they were a very reputable company in the past, but they certainly have gone downhill. Be wary of having to ask the office staff or management any questions. They're very unwilling to help. We have used Ace Aluminum many times over the years for installation of a storm door for our condo to storm doors, sliders, and a new front door unit for our house. We would not hesitate to use them again or recommend them. Installation is done by pros, and the office staff is great. The front door unit glass was found to have a flaw in the design, which we Reported as soon as we noticed it. They took care of it right away. The people that work here make a lot of mistakes and are rude. I came in for a door estimate and spent two hours with one of the salespeople, Dan, who indicated that he would have an estimate to me the next business day. When I called a week later, I was told he would call back. I then had to call again and speak to the owner to get another call back (three weeks later) and when I asked for an estimate, I recevied three estimates, each one with a different price and errors (I had the wrong order info, I gave you an estimate for one door, not two). The woman at the front desk is rude in answering the phone and the owner who was nice enough to call me and apologize had me deal with Dan, who does not know what he is doing. He scheduled an appt with me for 11:30 at my home, then came at 11 when I was not at home, but did not proceed to go around the back even though he saw a car in the driveway (someone was outside). I then called him that he came early and he argued with me that I had the wrong appointment time and he was too busy to come at the 11:30 time. Very rude, lots of mistakes and clearly not interested in the business. Sorry I wasted my time with this business. I am glad I did not go with them because I can foresee them making a lot of mistakes in my order and then blaming those mistakes on me. read more
