I reached out to Ace as I had exterior lighting fixtures from the 1920s I needed to have sandblasted, so I could repaint them--they are a heavy metal, probably iron, with a Gothic / Tudor look. Ronnie, the owner of Ace, quickly responded to my request. I sent him pictures with measurements, and he provided a very reasonable quote for his work. I dropped off the lights at his South Austin house (his wife received them), and within a few days, Ronnie called to tell me they were ready, and I went to pick them up. After hiring this company to do extensive work around a pool and screened in patio surrounded by plants and roses. Firstly Ronnie Jr did nothing to prep the work area before starting even after showing up twice before job started to get familia. like I said ; nothing was covered except a ceiling fan which they covered with used sand bags, however they didn't cover an expensive pool lift or my flower garden (many plants destroyed by sand and sand left on all flower gardens. They under bid their job so they thought they would cut my work short. I had them remove all the wheel barrels of sand out of my pool room once they finished,they told me it was my responsibility, who doesn't clean up their mess before leaving. All of the work promised was none done, I wasn't able to show them beca they scurried away without a word, they even left some of their equipment and I still have it sitting on my patio. We were very happy with Ronnie and his crew. The job took longer than anticipated, but worth it. We had an ugly painted driveway and patio which is now clean, white concrete! I would suggest an onsite quote, as the initial quote was given based on photos. Once he actually saw what he was dealing with, the price was increased. Bait and Switch. Verbally Abusive. What started out as "we want to do whatever it takes to make you happy" soon changed into aggressive bullying "we need more money." I hired them to remove the paint from a very large house. The stucco needed to be repaired which required that the paint be removed. Before bidding, they measured the entire house and sandblasted a test area. See first photo. We signed a contract based upon the sample of their work in the test area. On Day One, they removed only about half of the paint. See second photo. I told them that more paint needed to be removed and they said "ask the stucco guy." Their equipment broke down before the end of Day One. Day Two, no work because their equipment was broken. Morning of Day Three, I say "you need to remove more paint like your sample" and they say "this is going to cost more. We need more money." Everyone agreed to wait for the stucco guy's opinion. The owners left, and the worker did a good job removing enough paint, even though he complained that his equipment was not working correctly. End of Day Three, I received a verbally abusive call "what you want is taking too long. This is going to cost you more." I responded that the problem was their defective equipment. Again, everyone agreed to wait for the stucco guy's opinion. Day Four, no sandblasting crew, but stucco guy inspects the sample area, Day One work and Day Three work. Stucco guy says Day One work is useless and unusable, the other two are fine. I send sandblaster an email with photos and the stucco guy's opinion. Sandblaster accuses me of lying: "Is there even a stucco guy?" I send sandblaster the name and phone number of the stucco guy. Sandblaster calls stucco guy and is verbally abusive, challenging stucco guy's opinion (stucco guy has 30-years experience and 100 employees). Day Five, sandblaster calls me and gives me a dozen excuses of why he should be paid more. When sandblaster starts yelling into the phone, I hang up. All he had to say was 'I will do the job I promised for the agreed price.' He refused to say this. I am certain the sandblaster will respond to this post with an excuse or blaming me. There is no excuse for such unethical and abusive behavior. read more
