Reached out to Fine Wood Repair for a table top repair. It was more complicated than any usual repair, as I damaged the top and left a nice crushed corner on it. I found this company via yelp and can confirm they do a good job restoring furniture. I had a large dining room table that was 60"x80" that I purchased in 1998. After 26 years, had scratches and sharpie marks and general wear from supporting a family for meals and friends for dinner parties. They turned it around pretty quickly and were still giving it one last oil polish before handing it back to me. They gave me a verbal bid, I put down a deposit and the final amount was less than the bid. They charged me what the job took to finish. read more

It was not easy finding a repair shop locally that would even work on a valuable instrument like mine and as you can imagine, repair shops that specialize in harps are pretty rare (only a few in the entire country) so I was pleased when I finally found Fine Wood Repair and they were willing to help me. Lee was easy to work with, knowledgeable, and I knew that his care and attention to antique pieces of furniture meant that my precious harp would be in safe hands. Lee and his staff sanded down the scratches and dents on knee-block, filled it in with epoxy and shaped it to fit the curve, and refinished it to match 100% perfectly with the original finish of the harp. Looking at it now, you could not tell there was ever any scratches or dents there. I bought this large wooden bowl/platter when I was in Tanzania visiting a few weeks ago. The bowl was fashioned out of a natural full piece of wood. The person you crafted it into the bowl had done so keeping the natural elements of the wood grain, holes, and knots. I loved it from the moment I payed eyes upon it. The only thing I didn't like was this bird that had been carved into the wood to make it look like it was perched on the bowl. I just wanted to take a second to review this company, I haven't actually used them but reached out for a quote on getting a mirror replaced in an antique armoire that shattered in a move. He responded in a timely manner and gave me a thorough explanation of my options, including the option to cut them out completely and go straight to the glass company (even recommended which company to use), but also gave me a quote for them to handle everything for me if I don't want to mess with any of it. I'm opting to go straight to the glass company to save a little money and if they won't do the install (he said sometimes they will sometimes they won't) he can do that portion of the job. So basically he will handle as much or as little of the process as I want according to how much money I want to spend. He took the time to explain all that to me knowing that he likely won't make a dime off of me (and even if he did it's a small amount). I just really appreciated that level of service and had to share. Even if I don't end up using him this time I hope I need his services in the future just to give him my business. read more

Repeat, Satisfied Customer! Lee has visited my house on two different occasions over the past year. Once as a result of some dining room furniture damage done during a move. And second as a result of some bedroom furniture that was damaged during original delivery. The respective at-fault company contracted Lee for both jobs. After this second time though, I'm keeping his business card! Lee is a professional - timely, thorough, and helpful. He's made our furniture look like new again. We had an espresso-colored buffet with a nasty, deep scratch, a bedroom nightstand with a broken guide-rail, and a white bedroom dresser with a scuffed corner. Lee tackled all three and made them all look and work great. I'm a bit of a DIY guy, so anytime a trade professional (i.e. plumber, electrician, handyman, etc.) is at the house, I have a tendency to look over their shoulder and ask lots of questions. Some don't mind it and some hate it. Lee welcomed it! Once he was done with the requested work, I showed him the rail of a baby crib that went through some rough times as we experienced the "cry-it-out" phase of child sleep development. And by "some damage" I'm being overly generous. There are deep finger nail and teeth scratches up and down the dark wood rail. When asked if he could fix it, he of course answered yes, but also provided some tips should I tackle it myself. Then as he was walking out the door, I showed him my front door which gets beaten up by the afternoon sun. My original plan was to sand the wood all the way down to the grain before completely restaining. A project that probably would've taken me 2 weekends to complete. He showed me the tricks of the trade to have the door looking like new in 2 hours or less. I found Fine Wood Repair on this site after searching for a mobile woodworker. Lee came by a few weeks back to look at fixing the fine trim on the lower rim of a round table that had come loose. After he took some measurements and inspected the pieces, he said he'd come back and fix the table and we agreed upon a price that I thought was more than fair. I had previously talked to a few other woodworkers, and all required me to bring the table to their shop to even discuss them working on the trim. This was impossible given how large the table was - the transport costs alone would've cost more than the trim repair - and more damage could have occurred in transport. Today Lee returned at our agreed upon time and repaired the trim within 40 minutes. The table looks like new, and Lee was professional and high quality. He communicated what he needed to do and followed through.
