What can I say... it's valet parking. Okay, it is just valet parking but with a little extra. It's right on the main street for La Jolla and all of it's wonderful restaurants and right in front of two spectacular restaurants, Eddie V's and Crab Catcher. We were greeted immediately upon pulling up like you would expect from valet. But instead of a ticket, they just take down your cell number. No more hassling with a parking ticket and hoping you don't drop or lose it. The added benefit is they will send you a text with a link. When you are ready to leave, maybe about the time you get your check, you can click the link and when you get outside your car will be there waiting for you. I tried it and it worked flawlessly. Fantastic idea and the first time I've experienced it. There are other valet parking right here on Prospect but none offer this service and Eddie V's Valet Parking is a little cheaper. And something I really appreciate is they don't mess with the window! I have no idea but so many valets will roll down your windows. I have no idea why they do this. I don't want my windows down and I'm so happy Eddie V's doesn't do that. FYI, they only accept cash when you pick up your car so make sure you have some on you and make sure to tip the valet. What a place. We were there on a Friday night. A band came at 7 or 8 and played the greatest songs. Loved it. Not to say that the service was excellent, food was delicious although a bit on the pricy side if you take a three course with wine like me ($90 with tip). You can choose to be on the ground floor more quiet, or on the second floor with the band or even outside with an amazing view of the bay of La Jolla. I came here for a quick lunch before a wedding in La Jolla, and despite my need for expedited service, we were seated at the best seat in the house (third floor overlooking the bay) and had charming servers. I have used this service a bunch of times. Every time i have had a five star experience expect for my last visit, which, if i hadn't previously used their service would have merited one star. They have a really cool automated check in system which sends you a text when you drop off your car. This system allows you to request your car while still in the restaurant which in theory makes it so you car is waiting for you when you get out side. It is a really cool system and has worked for us wonderfully every time except the last time we used their service. I requested my car about ten minutes before we Left the restaurant. We got outside (it was very cold) and the truck keys hadn't yet left the valet area and they didn't seem that busy, i paid the $10 fee without any wait and we stood there for another ten minutes before my truck showed up. The guys that were working didn't seem to have that valet hustle a valet should have. I observed these guys for the ten minutes I waited and wasn't impressed with their work ethic especially considering the fact the guys expect a big tip. I have done their job and quite frankly was not happy while watching these guys. If i can find parking i am going to try and avoid their service going forward. read more

He made great recommendations and was patient with us as we extended our meal into the night. Great dining experience. My one issue was with the valet service in front of the restaurant. RUDE! October 11, 2018 BEWARE! This valley service came into my work and all the employees were told to use their service. No waivers were signed and the valley drivers are not liable for anything! You are basically giving your keys to a stranger. They left a light on in my car and killed my battery! I've heard other people also had dead batteries. read more

SEPT. 16 2018- I went to a memorial service dinner at Eddie V's restaurant last night. I was with my parents and my dad decided to park his truck in the ACE parking lot towards the middle/back section (space 42). We parked between the hours of 5:00 & 8:30 pm. When we got back we noticed the back window broken into and my purse (which I had idiotically left under the seat that day) was stolen. We looked around for help and there were only a couple of young adults there working valet. They were supposedly running in and out of the lot all night but didn't see anyone nor did they notice the broken glass everywhere. One of the workers said he would call the cops while we looked around our vehicle for other stolen items or damage and the worker ran back about 5-10 min later asking, "have you called yet?" We were stunned because we had been waiting on him to talk to his boss and call. So we then called ourselves and handle. The workers were useless. We asked if there were cameras and he couldn't answer us. He said I couldn't speak to a manager and that he would just give me an EMAIL to contact. Exactly what you want to hear when you get your personal property invaded and important things taken from you. Granted it was my mistake for leaving my purse behind but the fact that they were no help at all made it worse. I emailed the manager and still no response. I would hope they would alert the neighborhood or put up a sign saying that theft HAS JUST happened as a warning. And I would think that the workers would keep more of an eye out and care for their cars/customers in the lots. It amazes me that they didn't see anyone, or hear glass shatter or a car alarm go off or ANYTHING. Meanwhile, we were mourning the loss of a loved one.... read more

We made a reservation a week in advance and got the worst table in the entire restaurant, right next to the staff bus station. We asked to move because there were several open tables. The manager flat out denied our request to moved because the restaurant was "booked." He made no attempt to satisfy our request at all even though we were paying customers too! The food was really good but I have never felt more like a second class customer than during that interaction with the manager at Eddie V's. I will never go back because of the way they treat their customers not the food. read more

This place is unbelievable... We were greeted by Christophe like a part of his family. He spent some time with us talking about traveling and thanked us for coming in. First off..if I could rate them with a -100 I would. They do not deserve any stars! After a very nice meal at Donovan's (La Jolla location) we returned to the valet stand in front of Eddie V's to retrieve our car. There was one group in front of us waiting for their car. Apparently the valet had lost their car keys. I was thinking, wow, that would not be good. The next thing you know we find ourselves in the same situation. Then there was a 3rd party waiting with the same problem. If you go to downtown La Jolla DO NOT use the public valet parking on prospect. If you do choose to take a gamble then make sure you have an extra key with you. We were fortunate to have an extra key, however, the expensive key FOB is still missing. Nice, upscale steakhouse with a fairly laid-back atmosphere. I made reservations for a birthday with hopes of a nice sunset view. We were seated at a table on the top deck but away from the edge making the view a bit obstructed. I asked if they had something else closer and they were able to move us to a nice table on the outdoor lower deck right next to the window giving us a stunning view of the water and coastline. The lobster tacos were amazing as usual, as was the swordfish. Very good service (quicker than downtown) but slightly over-priced for the portions. My four stars are meant to say that given the presence of lots of competition for top-end restaurants in La Jolla, others provide greater value. This was a business dinner and we were well attended to with good staff interactions and a view that is La Jolla's trademark. But, one goes to a restaurant foremost for the food and our collective experience was that what we were served was very good but not inspired. For the prices charged, one expects inspiration. Out of the eight of us, not one person said that what they ate was extraordinary ... and no one had a bad experience, either. The steamed sea bass was very good. The best compliments went to the mushroom/goat cheese salad. The house-style sides were nothing special. There are several restaurants in the neighborhood with inspired food. If you are a true foodie, go to the Nine-Ten, or if you go a little further, try the Pammplemouse Grill. Neither has a great view, but unless you are trying to impress tourists, it is really all about the food. read more
