If you filter to negative reviews you'll see that almost every one mentions parking costs. If you can ignore that or if you're lucky enough to live within trolley/walking distance (as my brother who I'm visiting is) it's a really phenomenal mall. There's a great range of both high-end (Hermes, Chanel, Tiffany, Carolina Herrera, etc) and affordable (Uniqlo, H&M) shopping along with both expensive and fast-casual dining. I love going to Marugame Udon for lunch and grabbing a quick bite, or Haidilao for hot pot if I want something a little nicer. There's also a VERY popular Din Tai Fung here. In addition, there's a food court with some fast food options, a Shake Shack, etc. It's a beautifully maintained and designed outdoor mall with plenty of space to sit and lots of kiosks where you can get coffee or small treats. Overall it's a phenomenal mall (maybe I'm biased because I haven't had to deal with parking though) and I'll definitely return. read more

I had a very disappointing experience at this mall because of the customer service at Panini Cafe, one of the businesses located inside. My pickup order was significantly delayed, but that was not the main issue. Delays happen. The real problem was the way I was treated when I simply asked for an update. One staff member responded by pointing at the monitor and saying, "OK?" in a dismissive and aggressive tone. He did not check on the order, explain anything, apologize, or show basic courtesy. I raised the issue with the manager at Panini Cafe, and she was professional and said she would address it, which I appreciated. However, the staff member himself appeared to avoid the situation and showed no apology, accountability, or remorse. This kind of experience reflects poorly not only on the restaurant but also on the overall customer experience at the mall. When businesses inside a mall treat customers this way, it affects how visitors perceive the entire place. Customers should be able to ask a reasonable question about a delayed order without being treated disrespectfully. I left with a very negative impression and will think twice before returning to this mall for food or pickup orders. read more

Leaving the parking lot completely ruined the shopping experience. It took me over an hour to get to an exit gate that was less than 300 feet away because of the massive backup the gate caused. When I called the parking office, I was told it was due to "human error" and couldn't possibly be a technical error. They also refused to send a parking attendant to help clear up the congestion. If customers are paying for parking, there should be attendants at every gate!! I had already paid my ticket, but I was still charged an extra $3 because of the time spent stuck in the backup. read more

Every time I come down to San Diego to visit my daughter, I usually stop by Westfield UTC. I really like this place because it's clean, nice, and there are a lot of food options, so we can just walk around, relax, do a little shopping, and eat all in one area. There are a few restaurants here that I personally like, especially Din Tai Fung and Haidilao. There's also Starbucks and plenty of other spots depending on what you're in the mood for. The whole area just has a comfortable vibe to it compared to a lot of other malls. Parking has honestly never been too difficult for me either. I initially went to Macy's in UTC to find some shoes for my wife and when i went up to the employee named "Grace" which I'm assuming is a manager by the way she thought she was superior and didn't want to waste time talking to me since I'm JUST a customer, anyway i go up to her to ask for her help and instead she pointed at some kid working there without even pausing what she was doing to acknowledge my existence. Didn't even look up, no words were spoken, just a simple point which felt like she was telling me to piss off. It really killed my mood and we walked out without buying any shoes. This is such a great shame since l've always came to this mall whenever I visit La Jolla. Probably the nicest outdoor mall I have been to! Tranquil, pleasant, beautiful and so many place to sit, relax and soak up the San Diego sunshine and enjoy the breezes. It's get busy, but there are many little enclaves and areas to just be and hang out. I also like the stores and shopping here is a lot of fun! One thing that detracts from the joy of UTC, the paid parking. They charge to enter, grab and ticket and within 59 minutes, you owe them money. This feels like a real money grab. My main goal was to visit the Pop Mart which we don't have in Hawai'i. At first, I was surprised at the ticketed parking. I read quickly that the first 2 hours are free, so I browsed the mall quickly. I don't think I finished, but I got a good overview of the type of shops here... they seem more upscale. The restroom was very beautiful and clean! I was quite happy and satisfied with my visit overall! I also was surprised by the Pop Mart vending machine near the water fountains. I actually came here to eat, but decided to walk around after our lunch. Looks can be deceiving. Up front, when walking around, my perception was the mall wasn't very big. It just loops around and that was it. Yeah, I was totally wrong. The mall expands out to luxury shop area, a food court/restaurant area. This place has it all. They have Uniqlo (one of my favorites), Alo, Zara, Pop Mart, car showrooms, Louie V, Hermes, Tiffany, a workout gym, desserts, coffee shops, the list goes on. We ended up walking around for a couple of hours. I was amazed how big it was. This is a mall I liked going to. It had everything. I would come again. read more

My wife, our families, many of our friends, and myself decided to stop going to that mall for one and only reason. WE used to go for less than two hours before 10 in the morning for coffee and after 8 in the evening for dinner or ice cream many times per week, The free parking was for two hours and the time was enough to do all this. But today when my wife and I left we were charged $2 for parkiked there 1 hour and one minute. When we pressed the button the attendant told us that NOW is only ONE FREE HOUR. We are very unhappy to see the ownership take advantage of good customers (I spent $250 for a jacket and I had to pay a $2 parking). So we are done with this mall. As soon as Doc finished work we headed to this beautiful mall. Impressive with shops, eateries, play area for kiddies, wonderful place for families, couples and friends to enjoy. My husband and I specifically went to try the Venchi gelato store, and ended up really enjoying walking about this Westfield. This place has plenty of parking, and even if it was busy, it's hard to imagine you wouldn't be able to find parking. The only downside, if it can be considered one, is that it's not an indoor mall. But it has a lot of stores, and an amazing variety. Like most Westfield malls, it has a nice layout with a high standard of decor. This is actually my favorite Westfield mall. There are high, mid, and "low" end stores. There's literally something for everyone. I had a lot of fun just window shopping and checking out stores like the Popmart, Apple story, etc. Enjoyed just walking around watching people, checking out the koi pond, statues, etc. Even on a Friday night, it wasn't that busy either. Parking is free for the first two hours, you'll receive a ticket so be sure to keep it in order to get out. I really love Westfield UTC, everything is spacious and outside, I really love how all the stores are boutiques, stores that are familiar (apple, pacsun, nordstrom, etc), and also luxury stores! There is also a numerous selection of food and drinks, such as Wushiland for Boba, Bakeries, and numerous of sit down restaurants! Overall, I love this mall and it's so incredible! Can't go wrong coming here when we are in San Diego. You can't really take your time in each store since the parking is unfortunately timed. I believe the gym and the AMC movie theatre helps extend your parking validation from the first free 2 hours, but just note it's an hour more. If you pass it, you pay minimum $3. My boyfriend and I enjoyed several activities this outdoor mall had to offer. The movie theatre is cozy and convenient. The indoor ice rink is available to be viewed in the food court. Ice skating there was fun too! Very dog-friendly with lots of dogs strolling around! There's a mini dog park too, which is very nice. Pretty high-end stores here and lots of additional upscale stores are coming soon to expand the mall even further. I kinda wish there was more restaurants but I doubt they validate. Westfield UTC is my absolute favorite mall and my go-to when I actually feel like shopping in person! As someone who mostly shops online, this place makes it totally worth the trip outside. This mall is huge with a great mix of stores from luxury brands to affordable faves like Uniqlo, Zara and Alo. The food scene is also no joke with spots like Din Tai Fung, Ramen Nagi and Hai Di Lao plus tons of coffee shops and dessert places too. Besides shopping there's so much to do here like an ice rink, a cinema, cool art installations throughout and plenty of outdoor seating to just chill and relax between stores. You could easily spend a whole day here! Shoutout to the staff too because the bathrooms are always super clean and well kept. Can't believe it was only my first time visiting this mall-it was beautifully decorated for the holidays, and lots of families in the holiday spirit. We came on the weekend, which was perfect because there was tons of activity and special holiday events happening. The mall is also dog-friendly, which I really loved (there's an on site bark park!). There's a great mix of shops - from clothing for men, women, and kids to coffee machines, plus plenty of restaurants and snack spots. Just a heads-up: parking is free for the first two hours, then it's $3 per hour after that. THE GREAT: UTC has a PHENOMENAL repertoire of food and drink options, a well-rounded mix of affordable mid-range to high-end specialty stores, and a good amount of parking spots to boot. No matter which time of day I went, I never had an issue finding a spot. Despite the mall being in an affluent part of town, for its range there is truly something for everyone to enjoy here. THE NOT-SO-GREAT: The most recent adjustment in their parking policy is why it gets 3 stars instead of 5. Each vehicle gets 1 hour of guaranteed parking now instead of 2 hours. Past the initial hour, you're paying $2/hr, unless you reach the $15 daily maximum. Unless you know exactly what you're getting there and you'll be in and out quickly, 1 hour is frankly not enough to navigate around the mall at your own leisure. OVERALL: For a mall that was beloved by MANY locals (including myself) and had everything going for it, the updated parking policy was a ridiculous move on Westfield's part! It's a nosedive into the whole UTC customer experience. I could only imagine how much of a nuisance it can get to exit out of those parking lot gates nowadays ... Anyway ... if you happen to live, work, or vacation within the vicinity, then consider yourself one of the lucky ones. You can bypass the potential parking fees by using public transit or walking over. If you're outside of the vicinity and planning on coming here soon, then I would be extra intentional about how much time you want to spend towards eating, shopping, and entertainment (unless parking fees are the least of your concerns). read more

Westfield UTC has plenty of shopping, dining, and entertainment locations to choose from. We swung by to check out the holiday overlay and it was quite busy everywhere. A few of the dining locations have some holiday faire (alcoholic beverages, food, and sweets). This time of the year it is beautiful and festive. I stopped by Melo Melo to pick up (as my daughter would call it) a sweet treat to take home. Their desert are light and refreshing and they have plenty of toppings (I got plain coconut and hers was topped with fresh strawberries). We also stopped by our favorite Corner Bakery to pick up dinner to take home. UTC has options has a little bit of everything from budget friendly to a little more high end but every place we have been to so far has been great. Great, anchor stores, an AMC, and even a Shake Shack! Whatever you need, UTC has it. I think it is a great combination for a mall (all in one!). 1st two hours parking are free, past that there is a small fee. One of the 2 high end mall in San Diego that we frequent to. Parking can be a pain in the butt during holidays but normally,more than enough to accommodate shoppers. Renovations and new shops are continuously being done with more high end brands to come in this 2026. Shops come and go. Turnover is fast,before you know it,one has closed,others have opened. 4+ Large shopping center that's mostly outdoors in a very nice area of San Diego. A lot of the shops are higher end and they also have some newer concepts as well. This place feels kind of like fashion Island in Newport Beach if you're familiar. Based on a sheer size, there is a ton of selection of different retailers and eateries. I think management also does a good job of keeping this place up and clean and well maintained The negative for me personally is the parking. It feels like there's not a lot or enough of parking or maybe I just don't know where a lot of it is, but for me personally finding a spot here on the weekend is anxiety provoking I don't mind walking so I was able to find a corner in a far reach of a parking lot. Apocalyptically awful parking lot! This parking lot is a chaotic, soul-crushing labyrinth that may very well be the single worst design I've encountered in my 79 long, well-traveled years on this planet. Upon entering, you're handed a cheerful little ticket promising a free first hour--how generous! What they don't tell you is that you'll spend roughly two-thirds of that hour trapped in a slow-moving purgatory just trying to escape. You've got about 20 blissful minutes to enjoy yourself before trying to join the line of cars that moves slower than a sloth on melatonin. I genuinely cannot tell if the exit gates are malfunctioning, cursed, or if the drivers ahead of me were participating in some sort of cognitive endurance experiment. Multiple cars took a baffling 4-5 minutes each at the gate--an interaction that should take about 10 seconds unless you're attempting to solve a Rubik's cube while blindfolded. By the time I escaped, I had aged another decade. I will absolutely never return to this parking lot. Bring a helicopter. Hope this helps. read more

It just keeps getting worse... Some of the stores I've liked in the past have gone, the restaurants they bring in are increasingly generic and... there's an hermes store here now? For who? The topper to all this was the fact that apparently jacking rents until only the most expensive stores could be here wasn't enough: they need to charge for parking. So if you stay more than an hour, its $2. Ok who cares...but here's where it gets interesting: what happens when no one is expecting that? oh yeah, everyone gets stuck at the gates. When you do go to pay, it actually doesn't work. So, for an extra hour, they get $2 a car but then you also miss the light? I went to leave on to Genessee and there were cars backed up at every gate. I've noticed it before that the gates don't do the payment transaction well but if its just for 2 hours+, not a big deal. But everyone who goes more than an hour? So basically you can't get a lunch in without getting stuck searching for your ticket and then trying to get their cr*p machine to accept payment. Give it a pass - one day they might figure it out but of course it could work out that it crashes and burns which would be hilarious. read more
