SEARCH NO FURTHER! We had the greatest experience tonight with a late-night emergency main line service call! Nothing worse than getting ready for bed, to find all the drains in the house are backing up. Time to call around... I first called one of the well-known plumbers you hear on the radio, and was surprised to learn there was a $99 +$265 emergency call out charge (a total of $364 before any repairs are even made!), and a 2-hour response tj. I came here to Yelp, and found Mike with Ace's Plumbing... most 5-Star reviews in the area. I called just before 9PM and Mike answered, said he'd be right over (though he was getting ready for bead as well when I called!). He was at my house within 15 minutes, diagnosed the issue within 5 minutes, and was soon running a snake down the main line! Was a total of 30 minutes and the job was done! So glad we searched Yelp and found Ace's! In the end, it cost us LESS THAN HALF of what the other guy wanted just to show up (not to mention a 2-hour response time). I called Ace's Rooter for a clogged drain in my basement floor. Mike was fast to respond and actually came 30 minutes earlier than stated. The clogged drain was backing up in my basement about 3 feet diameter. It was a 15-20 foot line that ran toward the main line. The water went down the next day when Mike arrived. Mike said if he has to clean out the main line that would be 575, but he would clean out the small line for free. Mike put the camera down the small line which had a handful of small fingerlie type branches in there which shouldn't be. Mike said the pipe was bad and really needed to be replaced. He checked the mainline while I was upstairs turning on water for him. When i came back down stairs he said he already ran the camera down the main line and it was fine. I asked him to show me with his camera because I had just bought the house a few years ago and the house inspector showed me where there were a few branches at the end of the line that would need to be cleaned out eventually. Mike ran the camera again and there was sitting water at the end. He said he could clean out the lines but that would be 575+220 after he just told me he would do the small line for free. I then asked him for a rough estimate on replacing the small line. He got on the phone with his concrete buddy and was whispering in the corner on the phone. Comes back and gives me a quote of 9700.00. I ended up only having him clear out the small line and he ended up charging me 575.00. This guy does a bait and switch on his pricing, so I would get everything in writing on how much it costs before he does any work. I won't be using him again. Mike Zison charged me for $700 JUST THE LABOR to replace four shutoff valves and two faucets in a bathroom. it took him an hour and a half. He had come out day on a Sunday to replace just the valves (which is all I originally asked for), but I had bought the wrong kind of valves so he couldn't replace them. Then he told me I should replace the faucets (which had non-flexible intake pipes which aren't as good as flexible) as well because one of the faucets was dripping and he said it was better to replace the entire faucet than repair the gasket inside the gasket. He said if he replaced just the valves, the solid intake pipe on the faucets would crack (in retrospect, I realized that he was lying; you can bend the pipes 90% without breaking them) so he told me I needed to buy new faucets. I should have stopped him right there and said, "never mind, I'll fix it myself for a few bucks and keep the old faucets," but I wasn't sure if I could do it and I figured I owed him something for coming out on a Sunday but not actually doing any work. During the installation, one of the faucets leaked into the cabinet blow the sink so he ran down into the basement to shut off the water without first putting a towel down to catch the water. So water ran down into the holes at the bottom of the cabinet and onto the floor under the cabinet, which is inaccessible. He "promised me" that water didn't run down the holes the pipes go through, but I don't believe him. So the job was too big and expensive and now I have to worry about water under the cabinet that can't be reached and can't evaporate. I called other plumbing places later and they would have charged $250. read more

A Moen shower handle cartridge needed to be replaced because the water on the tub spigot kept leaking out. I sent a video of the issue and got a call from Mike. He tells me he doesn't want to even touch it for fear of damaging it. He gives me a ridiculous price for replacing it but then says he can't do the work because he doesn't work with these models. Seriously? He adds that I can probably have someone else fix it instead of replacing it for around $300. I don't do much yelp reviews but Mike from Ace's Rooter was such a great help that I HAVE to give him a review here! The initial problem: Our shower water was backed up and the shower had turn into a small pond..... The nearby plumbing company weren't able to solve our problem. They tried with a snake and a hydro-jet but nothing works... We were told the ONLY solution would be changing the pipe underneath. So like most people, not knowing anything, we agreed to it. LUCKILY, we spoke to Mike from Ace's Rooter before the other company come to change out our pipe underneath the bathroom. Not only did Mike drove all the way from El Monte area to OC, he was able to solve our shower problem with just a snake(snaking). After he clear our shower drainage issue, he also helped us fixed a couple small issues around the house in the same day! Mike saw out our corroded pipe (a part of it is shown in one of the picture) and replaced it with the different pipe(see picture). He also solved our garbage disposal issue and our faucet by replacing them. SO, not only did Mike helped us solve the shower drainage issue, he was nice enough to stay around to help us fix some of the mentioned issues around the house.
