Worse customer service, prices don't always add up asking someone for help or to get a price check is like pulling teeth and why have all of those self checkout if they're not going to be used waited 10 min just to get a gallon of milk ridiculous. I just had the worst experience i have ever had at a grocery store at your MacDade acme. Oreos were on sale for 2.99, when i checked out the price was wrong. When the employee went back to check/confirm the price she removed all the sale tags from the shelves. She didn't know i had already taken a photo because i have had this same issue many times at the store. When i brought it up to her she started yelling at me saying it wasn't her fault that the item wasn't on sale anymore. I asked if i could pay for one of the two packs of Oreos and renter my number the Oreos rang up the correct price. The employee then proceeded to scream at me some more about how it wasn't her fault in the first place. I'm angry because groceries are expensive & not only did she call me a liar she went and removed the sale tags from the shelves so when i went back to double check they were all gone! I've reported her to corporate and I will be speaking with the store manager. The customer service agent on tonight should not be in customer service! Also the man working self check out shouldn't either! I know for a fact when the videos of tonight are reviewed they will see the two employees yelling & removing the sales tags from the shelves! read more

I have been a regular customer at Acme Holmes for years. My daughters birthday is 2 days before Thanksgiving she wanted Strawberry shortcake. Last week 1lb of Strawberries 5.99. Today Mon November 20th 1lb of Strawberries was 10.98 And they were mostly unripe or damaged. And don't get me started on the outrageous prices for their other products. My Son works in produce for Giant the price for 1lb of Strawberries is 4.99 and for 2lbs 6.99. CLEARLY this is PRICE GOUGING at its finest. My neighborhood is filled with hardworking blue collar families Everyone is struggling in this economy and during the holidays to do this to people is DISGUSTING. ACME needs to take care of the customers who have been so loyal to them all these years instead of taking advantage of them. read more

Iam sad to say I won't be shopping at Acme. I been a frequent customer for years but not anymore I have been buying Signature select ice cream for awhile but when I went to open my ice cream today I found a winged dead bug inside . I will say this I know this isn't the store fault because it was factory sealed and when I opened it the bug was there. But acme needs to follow up with the factories they vendor with . Good Evening to my Yelp Family!!! I have never patronized this Acme and I am always in this area because of my association with Planet Fitness - Folsom. I haven't visited this area in a month, simply because all of Planet Fitness gyms are closed because of Covid 19 - the Corona Virus. I decided to visit this Acme because I had just left the Dollar Zone and the Citizens Bank ATM. I am not at all thrilled with Acme, my supermarket of choice is Giant. The prices are way too high for me at Acme. I do not mind coming here when there is a sale. Today, the hot chocolate was on sale, 2 for $5.00. While I feel that I could have gotten it cheaper at Giant, $1.75 or $1.00 at the dollar store, I was here, so I just went with it. Also, sometimes the dollar store does not have hot chocolate in stock. Also I needed a money order and I know Acme sells money orders just like Giant. It seems funny seeing most of the store personnel in face masks. I had just left Walmart in Glenolden, not too far from this Acme, and only a few of the employees were in face masks. Also Walmart limits how many people can come into the store at one time. This is happening because of Covid 19 and because of the social distancing and the hope of keeping people safe. I went through the self -serve checkout to purchase my hot chocolate. I went to Customer Service to purchase my money order and Marge was the Associate who assisted me. Marge was pleasant and cordial. She answered my question about my Serve card and if I could load it there. Another associate said no because it was not listed on the notification panel. My experience here today was positive and I cannot say if I will visit again, because I prefer Giant. Every time I shop here I regret it. Selection and price are not great - it seems like they are always out of something I need. However, my biggest beef is service which is just terrible. Employees vary from inattentive to just plain rude. I have started going to the new Giant in Springfield - a million times better. read more

Let me start off that the prices are defintiely not high-end. They had better sales than the newer ShopRite further north on MacDade the last I was there. Nice cashiers and store setup overall. The only thing I noticed is some items that weren't on sale totally out of stock. I came there to get more choices than Darby Save-a-Lot and picked out the same thing in different brands. read more

I hate coming to this place now that they got rid of the self checkout lanes and replaced them with the four "express lanes/15 items or less." They only ever have one maybe two (if you're extremely lucky) of those four lanes open and half the time the line is filled with people who have more than 15 items. read more

Since I moved to Glenolden, this has become my grocery store of choice. Unfortunately, it is the lesser of the few evils (that is, not that good, but better than the other terrible grocery stores around town). I usually love Acme, and have always considered them the higher tier when it comes to food shopping. The Acme in Holmes, however, is just not that good. They are frequently out of the specific brands that I prefer, and overstocked, I believe, on store brand and generic products. Being somewhat of a foodie, I find myself commuting to the Trader Joes in Media to get the "good stuff." I can't even find the Raisin Nut Bran cereal that I love, and every other grocery store I have been to in my life has always had it, it's not a rare cereal. When I lived in Newark, Delaware, the Acme there was much better. The only major problem I had with the Holmes Acme staff was once when I needed to get a roll of quarters (it was late, and the banks were closed). I had just purchased about 130 dollars worth of groceries, and thought that if I gave the cashier $10 in cash, there would be no issues getting a roll of quarters. Apparently, I was horrendously wrong. He referred me to the manager, who very rudely dismissed me and said "we don't give out rolls of change." Now I wasn't asking her to GIVE me anything, I was asking for an exchange. I informed her that I am a paying customer and that I use this store frequently, but she didn't want to hear it, she told me that they pay the bank for their change deliveries (which I know for a fact is a nominal fee), and that they can't give it out to everyone who walks in off the street. Once again, I was a PAYING customer, not someone who just came in for the change. That really ticked me off, and just proves that many people don't belong in customer service. I wasn't asking her to go an extra mile to accommodate me, just walk a few steps, and she couldn't even do that, totally lazy. Long story short, I went next door to the Kmart, where I didn't even buy anything, and the lady behind the customer service desk forked over the quarters with no questions asked. Great job Acme, you win the award for giving worse service than Kmart, and that's sad. Also, I like to use the self-checkout when I have only a few items. The attendant that is overseeing the self-checkouts is NEVER paying attention to anything. Anyone that has used a self check-out knows they aren't perfect, and frequently need the attendant to override an item because maybe it isn't reading it's weight. When this happens, a prompt appears on the employees terminal that assistance is needed at your station, a red light also blinks. Even with these alarms, I still need to turn and let them know "HELLO!!! NEED HELP!!!" Incredibly inattentive, and if someone were to not scan something and just take it, they wouldn't even know. I also have purchased on several occasions items from their bakeshop that were incredibly stale even though their dates were recent. All in all, I tolerate this place because it is close and convenient to my apartment, if something better came along, I would go there in a heartbeat. read more

As a whole, I love Acme. It's my regular grocery store. However, it's not THIS store. I dread having to stop here for things when I'm around here. The people are EXTREMELY RUDE! Maybe the day staff is better, but I'm usually popping in at night, for one or two things, and the employees are snide and ignorant. And they're not young people. Every one of the ladies I see is at least 40 years old... I almost want to tell them to quit if they're so unhappy! Just now I had to stand at the customer service desk, waiting, while the worker was on the phone talking (rudely) about another co-worker, only to have the self checkout woman come over and tell me she couldn't help me because I wasn't at 'my regular store'. I'm not a huge fan of this particular Acme. I come here only if I happen to be in the area and need to grab something. When compared to the Acme in Folsom, this Acme has very little. There is really no organic section. All of the other items you would normally find in a grocery store are here though. Nothing more to it. read more

I'll echo some recent reviews regarding the inefficient and rude employees, and consistently long lines. On three occasions, I've abandoned full carts of groceries due to the slow, long checkout lines. For years, Acme management seems unable to run this store effectively. I love Acme Markets. It'a well-stocked each time I shop there, especially the Holmes location on Macdade Blvd. There is only one problem - the day-time Manager is not the best. She doesn't seem to know what it's all about. Several times I overheard her discussing employees right on the floor with with customers all around. THIS IS IMPROPER!!!!!!! and really turned me against the company. Come on, now, guys, I'm absolutely positive you can do better than that for management.
