These happen to be my favorite times, as I love cooking and I love making things authentic and as legitimate as possible when I can. Over the past year, I have made it my personal achievement to become proficient in making tamales. Over the last eight months I have learned to perfect multiple different tamales, but I cannot call myself a master, as I have not put in the time of a true master. This is what led me to La Mexicana. A search for proper ingredients beyond just the simple masa and lard. I am always looking for fresh peppers when it's out of season that I cannot grow and dry myself. As well as other things to toy with my base tamale recipe to try and create new and amazing things that may have not been done before. I am happy to say LA Mexicana has everything one needs and more to make any Latin meal and also has incredible people working there. The shop looks small from the outside but runs deep with a wonderful vibe and classic decoration and bright color. They have a deli towards the side and rear and even have the wonderful pastry cabinet that I hope to find in every carniceria. Went here recently. Can't really complain since what my dad and I went to get was at the store and…read morenot part of the bunch of empty shelves at other aisles here. My experience was not bad. Though there were huge crowds here I was not surprised because Walmart is a very popular store chain. I got shoes and dress pants. The shoe section was really spacey but the kind I got there were at least three sizes which was great compared to times at the now defunct Payless and the even less prepared K-mart. That and the pants were plentiful which was overall like a breath of fresh air! Though these are trying times if you need to, go here even if it ends up a last resort. The customers are in large numbers so if that bothers you you may have to find a smaller business to support instead. Otherwise Walmart is definitely a place to go!
