The workers are always throwing outdated food stuff away. This store is ok if you can be there at the correct days before spoilage. Still today 3/6/2026 there are still NO baskets for customers. People are carrying 6-9 items in their hands. Most mornings 8am-10am when I shopped there there's no register open except self- checkout. read more

My partner and I came to this supermarket located in Saddle Brook, NJ to do our food shopping. This is our go to place only for Campbell's Spaghetti. Believe me we tried all the nearby markets, no one carries this item but here. Kudos to the purchaser! Social distancing is enforced. Thanks goodness their aisles are wide enough and clean. Unfortunately their prices are a bit steep. A box of strawberries costs $7. Elsewhere it's $3 cheaper. Maybe this could the reason why not too many patrons shop here. read more

It's bad enough that ACME engages in price-gouging on regular items when there's no sale. But when there is a sale, customers should at least expect to have the sale prices honored, and, if there's no stock, to get a rain check--not falsely advertised items that never appear, and that the customer can never buy! But not here! Sales routine run for products that are advertised, even though this ACME has no intention (or possibly no ability) to ever stock them, replenish them, or honor the sale price--making the "sale" totally illegal, and prohibited bait and switch advertising. Getting a rain check can be difficult to impossible, as the customer service desk is not staffed half the time, and whoever is working the front end will rudely insult you if you ask for an attendant or manager to come over to the desk (you could never call it a "courtesy" desk here). But even if you could get a rain check, our experience has been that the item you couldn't find during the sale may never even replenished, making even the potential raincheck fraudulent. This store and the ACME chain as a whole needs to be heavily fined for engaging in false and deceptive business practices that take unfair advantage of consumers. read more

They have a good selection and are never out of stock when I'm trying to find specific brands/items! But, the cashiers are very slow and the policies are frankly stupid. I was buying a small cake and a birthday card and told the cashier I didn't need a bag. She then puts a "PAID" sticker on the birthday card!!! I was honestly stunned and asked why she even did that, and she said anything that doesn't go in a bag needs a paid sticker. The cashier in the next lane agreed that this was the policy, which is stupid. She completely ruined the card and I had to go to customer service to get a refund. read more

This has to be one of the worst acme's I've ever been in the store doors barely work and the cart carrals are packed all the time with carts. When it comes to 10 o'clock they had the one register open which was fine but only one self checkout lane that is absurd I waited on line for 10 minutes to buy a coke and a bag of chips. I'm at this Acme nearly everyday and the only good qualms of this supermarket compared to their Shoprite counterparts are their random produce sales, beauty product sales, and friendly cashiers. Lines also tend to move faster than most supermarkets. It's often times hard to find what you are looking for at this location, things aren't necessarily organized the way you would imagine. Again, if you need just one or two items, sometimes I stop here to pick up some fruit on sale or seltzer. read more

Can anyone answer why this grocery store got rid of the small carts and baskets? If you are running in for a few items, you are forced to grab one of the giant clunky carts. It is absurd and I'm sure a tactic hoping the extra cart will cause you to buy more things. It's the only grocery I know of those doesn't have a basket option. (Anymore at least- they used to have them.) A few years since my last review, and this grocery store continues to disappoint. I just came back from the Acme Supermarket in Saddle Brook. I tried to use the Ladies Room, there is no toilet paper, water on the floor, totally disgusting conditions. This is a constant occurrence. DO NOT BUY THE FISH FROM HERE!!! My man and I went there for the first time and bought salmon. He worked with the fish Dept to select the perfect piece. We came home and cooked it simply with butter and lemon. Cooked through and well. That night, I had cramps while my man was throwing up. The next day, we felt like such crap, we saw the dr, to ensure it was nothing serious and so we could be around our 8 month old. With symptoms and a diagnosis of food poisoning, they needed to test us for salmonella. If positive, we can't kiss our own kid. With now a ton of medical bills, missing work, pain and agony and not being able to kiss my own kid, I beg you to not buy any fish from here. It's not worth the cost or the short line. So far I like what I see. At first I was upset that A&P was closing and being replaced with ACME. I kept wondering just how bad this place will be. Well, ACME has been opened for a few weeks now, and the place is spotless. They replaced all those rattling, squeaky, and rusty carts with brand new ones. I always had to change my shopping cart 2-3 times. No more carts veering to the left when pushing straight. Another obvious change, is the lighting... I didn't realize just how dark A&P was. Maybe I just got use to it, but you can actually see the fruit and vegetables now. And speaking of fruit and vegetables, they changed their setup and actually have fresher stuff now. I've been there a few times already, and already don't mind the change. I kept forgetting just how expensive A&P actually was. Keep up the good work! Oh... And if you like steak, fish, or chicken. You may want to check out their meat department. Apparently they have a buy one get one free section. Stocking up the next time I go there. read more

It's your average suburban supermarket. It's not as crowded as shoprite usually is . Their prices are nothing to rave over . They can be pricey if you do not buy everything on sale . If you only buy sale items then you might come out saving . What I feel really sets acme apart is their bakery section. Their pastries, cakes , and various other desserts are works of art . These items are what you would expect to see at a high end bakery. They are also very flavorful. I would say if you were to compare their bakery section to shoprite, acme would win hands down. read more

The layout is very strange. The bread isn't easy to find when you first shop there. Their produce department doesn't have the best variety. The meats, particularly the chicken, usually have sell by dates the same day, maximum two days after you come to shop. So if you buy meat here, use it quickly. They never have many checkout lanes open, and staff often has an attitude. read more

Walking in after previously coming here for the a & p, would be have proved to feel like a new experience but to be honest it felt exactly the same. The layout of the store hadn't changed and the prices certainly didn't improve that much either. This store compared others in the area seems a bit overpriced, I noticed particularly in the produce and deli section. They did have a good meat special going on though. They had buy one get one so I walked out with almost 3 lbs of prime rib for like $11. All in all I don't think I will be going back because I feel like they are lacking alot of everyday items that I can usually get at even a walmart! Where do I begin! First off, I only shop here when I desperately need something since it's right around the corner. Produce is almost nonexistent and what is there is often near the end of its life. Off to the deli for some cold cuts? Better take the prepackaged stuff because you will be hard pressed to find a clerk to help you. And if you do, be prepared for a scowl. Meat Dept. has no selection and the BOGO deals mean there's a lot of about to be expired meat and poultry. In a nutshell, the place is overpriced and under stocked with fresh merchandise. Now to the front end! This store has a multitude of lanes but most of the time there are only 2 or 3 open. With the exception of a few cashiers, most have the worst attitudes on the planet! They openly complain about their jobs and are slower than molasses flowing uphill in January! This morning I asked my husband to push our order down the belt so I could pack and the cashier commented to the next man in line that I was so rude. He, in turn, said to her that if I was a cashier I should be fired. Number one, if you have something to say to me, say it directly. Number 2, guy behind keep your comments to yourself and number three don't eavesdrop on others conversations. Surprise people! I was a cashier in a neighboring supermarket for years and we would have been fired for this type of behavior. Acne management, get with the program and start improving this store. The worst super market in Saddle Brook. Every time I buy something, I get home and see the expiration Date has already passed. It has become such an inconvenience to shop at this store. On top of that I always notice the employees fighting and bickering with one another. It is not a well managed store and I can honestly say even though I live right at the corner (within walking distance).. I will never be back here. The price of the salad bar was recently increased to $6.99 per lb. Making what was a $5 salad nearly $8. You won't see me there again!

I was happy to see A&P leave hoping a better supermarket with better prices would be there But nope, got Acme whose prices are just as bad that sometimes I wonder if the vegs and fruits are being sent down from Mt Olympus by the Gods that the prices are outrageous. I dont shop there only run in for milk and bread did try to get some things one time that were on sale a total of 4 bags and 85 dollars Wont do that again At my usual market Shop rite I would have come away with at least 2 more bags. I find while looking items I usually get are any where from 75 cents to 2.00 more That is a lot. Adds up especially when on fixed income. Sure some prices have come down but not enough to warrant shopping there. Oh and be very very careful of the dates they have A&P habit of selling expired or right on the date and unless you are going to eat it all immediately in goes in the garbage money wasted I bought tomatoes that day 5.00 vine and when cutting them open they were so rotten inside the white seeds looked like maggots Threw them out would not bother to bag them and tote back to store UGH Now they have delivery wow you have to be a CPA to understand the delivery fee. I pay only one fee shop monthly and have it brought up to second floor including all water cases etc. And yes you can very rarely find someone behind the bakery counter that is true Well hopefully they reduce their prices according to the income per family etc cause we do have a load of senior fixed income residents or maybe we can get another supermarket in there LOL read more
